As all of you probably know by now we had a terrorist related incident in London, and as ever random people walking through the city are injured or have lost their lives.  It seems small compared with other atrocities, but no doubt is meant to scare people away from the city.

No way - terrorists are not going to run my life ... or my country!

Anyway, enough of politics (etc) not something I usually even mention on LJ.

##########

I keep saying I am back and then disappear!  Last time I picked up a tummy bug (I think the kid who sat in front of me at Church the previous day was ill), and sadly my Chronic Fatigue set back in ... so I somehow lost a week.  I managed to work for 2 days, but that was all.

So, I need to focus, and get back on track.  There is no way I can skim back through your news, and I must yet again apologise that I have been a bad friend (I should get that sentence in the pc memory and that way just fill that line in each time! ).

So what I need to do is do a catch-up post incase any of you remember who I am, and want to know where I am and what I am doing! It's all about me - )

I do hope that you are all well ... any news, please let me know.
*group hugs*
debris4spike: (Dad)
I have this week off, and although there is lots I should be doing, I am going to take the advice of an amazing friend and rest more than work. In some ways it feels so wrong, but then I think of yesterday morning when I didn't wake up till gone 10am. For the first time in 3 years I haven't been tuned into my phone, and for the first time ever I haven't got to account for my time to Mum & Dad. It seems wrong on all sorts of levels.

I also hate the fact I still can't cry. Mum & Dad have been my friends, parents, role models etc, and yet I still can't cry for the absence I now have of them in my life. It feels so bad, and yet I know that when the time is right it will hit me ... I suppose seeing my teenage nephews in tears round Dad's grave on Friday made me feel that there was something wrong with me.

I am hoping to get someone to look at my fence today (waiting for a phone call), I had asked Tim some time ago, but he is "busy". In fact they are away on holiday this week, so hope the weather is good.

Sadly Nick is probably going to lose his job.  He has major health issues, including severe depression, and an ahour each ways drive is not helping.  He loves the job, but not the drive.  He admitted that he could have minimised his symptoms but realised that wouldn't have helped him.  So maybe he is learning to open up a bit.  For the 3 weeks Dad was dying he came every morning for an hour.  He and I did chat, mostly about "nothing", but it was good to be able to spend time with him.

Well, I am going to get sorted out for something to eat ... I am sure Jiffy will be happy to see me type that.

I will catch up with comments now - theye really helped.  Can't guarantee it will be today, but will be in the next few days.  I shall also start to get back to LJ properly, soon.  I have missed you - hope I haven't missed anything exciting in my absense.

"Long May She Reign"
debris4spike: (M&D wedding)
We had a wonderful day on Saturday ... the food went well, everyone made the effort to spend time with M&D (including the younger boys) ... and even the weather behave do we could get some pictures outside.

All in all Mum & Dad felt that it was lovely, so that was the main thing.

Nick got the 4 boys to read out some facts about 1952 and 2012, and Andrew said a prayer of dedication, as well as the 4 of them singing a hymn -

Lord, for the years your love has kept and guided,
urged and inspired us, cheered us on our way,
sought us and saved us, pardoned and provided:
Lord for the years, we bring our thanks today.

That truly made M&D's day.

Tim read an inspirational story about faith, and both Mum and Dad talked about some of the "weird" family history.

They loved the vase, and later admitted they were glad we had done it.  We had all bought plants for the garden as extra gifts, and I had also had a tree planted in Northamptonshire (the county they married in), as there are some re-planting programmes going on at present.  It is a field maple, which is a native to England, but has a family link as Mum's Mum was actually born in Canada.

Anyway, words can't really sum up the day - just to say it went really well - and here are a few of the family pictures from the day -

Here is the rabble )

As you know I don't get internet at my place yet, and last night I truly worried.  I was just falling asleep when I realised I hadn't checked my emails ... and then couldn't relax.  So had a quick check ... and a message from LJ saying my credit card was out of date for the automatic update ... fine I have 2 weeks to go.  Then another saying the extra Userpics would end on the 2nd, as the credit card was out.

Yes, no notice ... and I have over 200 uploaded.  So, I thought, fine, I can buy the update on PayPal and work out the rest this weekend ... NO ... my phone wouldn't let me go to Shop on LJ.

So, I text Tim ... by now it is 10.30 at night .... but he was up, and on the internet (he is doing the family tree).

He has an LJ account he doesn't use - and couldn't remember the passwords!  LJ wouldn't let him buy the icons, without updating the account as well ... so, my baby brother did the lot for me.  I now have to send him the money, but it was a panic for me for a couple of hours.

I'm just so thankful that I couldn't sleep until I had checked my emails - and even more thankful for my helpful baby brother!

My brother Tim is mad .... but for the best possible reason.

He is going to walk over hot coals to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Research ... if you want to see a bit more, then look here

Rapid, Short Update

Wow the computer is slow - I'm writing from work as otherwise I never seem to get time.

Between internet searching for house (I'm going to see one later, which is why I'm still "here"), and getting ready for a concert in Bude this Saturday ... and work!  Life has been hectic.

No real news - other than apologies if I have missed something from you.  I try to skim through every day ... but sometimes that's as far as it gets.

Jiffy is slowly moving easier ... and 7 weeks on his skin infection is almost gone!  So basically good news there.

Mum has developed problems in her one working eye, so that has been very stressful for her ... and for Dad, who has found it hard to see Mum struggling with partial blindness.

No news on the house, yet - but Tim has been great ... so that's been wonderful.

Well, I must get a coffee, so have to move away from the pc - hope all is well with you ... and that I will catch up with you all, properly, soon!

*hugs* my friends.
