Another Day Off ....

But, another busy day

The reason for these days off is because one of the people I work with is on holiday with her parents, the other has had surgery.

But, health wise it will do me good, and I am keeping busy.  I could have worked somewhere else in the hospital, but I have opted to stay home and relax (a lot of walking over the weekend, and I did really well health wise, but I am not going to push myself and take a back step)

This morning it was great as both my missing clocks came home.  They had both stopped at the start of the pandemic and I have really missed hearing the ticks.  The one in my study strikes on the hour and was bought when my great-grandfather was living & working in New York in 1890.  I inherited it when my grandmother sold her house in 1980.  The other one which hangs in my lounge, was the wedding present for a different great-grandfather in 1880, and mu inherited it when he died in 1953.  So they have always been around in mum's life, and now mine.  It is so great they are back on the walls.

While waiting for them to arrive I made some ginger biscuits, so now I have to get back to my photographs ... ready to be spammed later.

Hope you are all having a fun day, as well ...  as ever, before I go -

And, had hoped to post a few photos as well .... but

  • The computer is on a go-slow for uploading the photos, so I shall smile sweetly, and hope to get to share the photos with you at some point!

  • Yesterday was not a good day, so after work, and a walk, I slept most of the afternoon

  • Yes, although not a football fan I did watch some of the England v. Germany match ... nice to be on  the winning sde!!

And now we are at today.

  • Today is my baby brother's birthday.  My memory of 54 years ago, is of being told off!!  My other brother & I spent time in the garden, and we went paddling in a large puddle.  Yes, I remembered to take both our shoes open, but forgot to remove the white socks Nick & I were wearing.  So, don't remember Tim arriving (he was born at home). just know I got told off.

  • For the 3rd day in a row we saw a boy who was aged under 10 (in fact yesterday we saw a 16 year old, as well)  All the boys were really nice, and makes life easier.

  • Other than our 3 year old patient we saw one other man, and the other 3 were no-shows!

  • I got home early, which was lovely ... and lucky as I had organised for a horologist to come at 1pm, or later ... he was 1/2 hour early.  So both my Mum's Grandfather's wall clocks are now off for repair.  Both are 1870's - 1880's, and Mum has had both since their wedding in 1952 ... so I inherited them a few years ago, as neither brother wanted them.

  • Had a great walk, and now am here to try and get some icons finished, as well as hope the photos upload.

But, as ever, before I do other things -

29. Did you go to your high school’s homecoming dance?
We didn't have one - but wouldn't have gone if we had

30. Who taught you how to drive?
Mum took me out for my first drive.  After that I had 2 instructors - Collin & Bob

Well that's me back up to date - hopefully I will try to catch up with you all this evening.

Ramble thanks!! )

Yesterday I had a great day out with Christine while she is on half term.  We went to Dunster Castle (photos to come), and managed to avoid the rain showers.  It was a fascinating place, having been lived on since about 1000, and basically having had the same family live there over the last 700 years, until they handed it to the National Trust.

Thought I would share a few random pictures, anyway.  I took this rainbow last month - so great to see the range of colours (even to my colourblind eyes.  This image was taken with me standing on my front door step.

Last week Tim & Claire replaced the flowers at Mum & Dad's grave (we keep a small posy of silk flowers there), and they also cut the grass around it, and tidied things up ... so thought I would share, for those who haven't seen the stones, or the lovely tranquil location that they rest in.  Now you can see why I love going for a walk around the cemetry each week.

And, Jiffy always decides which way we are going to stroll, so I get to see all sorts of graves ... and I spotted the Titanic stone last week

And, for those who are not members of  [livejournal.com profile] photo_scavenger I thought you might like to see my posts of my last 3 prompts ... roadsign, ornament & old

The camera is busy )

We all love clocks in our family - and this is one of the many at Mum and Dad's ... I re-started this, took the picture, and then headed out for Church this morning. This one is Mums, and belonged to her Grandfather - in fact was a wedding pressie to him, from his parents, and had been hanging in their house (He married in 1885)

I am now off to change all the clocks in my place!
