... For another couple of weeks, anyway.

Yesterday I had a physio appointment (I had forgotten about it, but got there OK, as the buses were on time). The physio thinks I am "odd" (I think family and friends would agree with me). I am struggling to cope with the leg injury, but all the muscle strength tests are better than my Physio expects! I can actually hop on the bad leg ... but ask me to sit relaxed and I can't get the leg to feel OK! I think she is correct with the nerve damage ... however such a lot is a "mental" problem (!!!!!). She thinks that as I never had a reason for the injury, didn't fall, get run over, etc, etc, my brain has never really accepted the injury. So add that to the nerve damage the leg is not coping with normality again. She has given me some specific tasks to do in the hope of getting brain, leg, muscles, etc to actually just act as one. (So, we shall see how that goes).

As ever I went to work after that ... but am still taking the Wednesdays off for a few more weeks. It's a combination of actually getting some things done, and being able to use the leg in everyday life, rather than just behind a desk.

This morning a friend from the Church I used to go to (up to a year ago), picked me up and we had a coffee/tea, and then came home via a larger supermarket to pick up some bits I can't buy at my local one.

This afternoon I have just made some biscuits, but despite making them in the past I obviously did something wrong and they have spread ... and stuck to the tin! Oh well, I am the only one who will eat them, and they taste OK, so that's the main thing.

I want to catch up with you all, but before that -

10. Have you ever owned a Tamagotchi?
No, but Tim had one for a time

11. Would you consider yourself superstitious?

I inherited a clock that belonged to my Great Grandfather, and at present needs servicing. However as a family it stopped when he died, when my grandparents died, when my parents died ... normally being stopped for a couple of weeks, before we could get it started. However it's been stopped 5 years now ... yes, it stopped when Jiffy died and I couldn't get it started. I just need to get myself organised!
But, basically, no I'm not superstitious.

Right, let's see what you are all doing.

Welcome December

Wow, as quickly as I feel I am getting slightly better, I realise that I am not progressing as fast as I hoped. When I have a good day I try to get a few things done, and really try to restrict what I do to protect my leg ... but then really suffer later.

However I am totally off the pain killers now ... so that's positive. The leg is constantly aching, but is no worse now the pills are gone, so decided it was sensible to stop them.

The leg still has no strength at all ... so the crutches are there, and even though my physio wants me to learn to use them in a different way so there's more pressure on the leg, rather than the arms. However I still fibd, after a short distance, I am really limping badly. So, over the weekend I opted out of trying and walked as I had been on my daily walks.

I actually managed to get some Christmas shopping done - bits and pieces on a couple of days ... on one of the days I actually bumped into Claire, as well, so we had a cuppa.

On Saturday (don't tell Mum), but I made Mince Pies ... Mum wouldn't let us have them until Christmas Day itself!!

Then in the afternoon I walked into the hospital to see the volunteer who had emergency spinal surgery a month before my injury, if you remember. He is really progressing ... in fact while I was there we had a walk together ... we must have made a great couple with him using a frame, and myself on crutches. he is still negative about things, and I found myself being positive about how far he had come ... which made me smile, as I realised I was saying things to him that people keep saying to me!

Sunday I watched "Church Online" ... I still have no idea when I will be able to drive again. But, since Covid, most Churches do the online services, not the same, but still good, Other than that it was a slow walk, and a lazy day.

Now we are in December ... I need to sort out what pressies I still need to buy, as we have the family get-together on Saturday ... and want to start sorting out my decorations.

So -

27. Have you ever slept in socks at night?
No – I like having cold feet.

28. November is part of World Vegan Month – have you tried any vegan food this month?
No – I am a meat eater

29. What types of fruit do you always have in the house to eat?
Oranges, apples … and often grapes.

30. Do you have any special plans for December?
Getting back to work!!

DECEMBER
1. Do you use serviettes/napkins when you eat, or are they just for fancy meals/when you have guests?
Always have paper serviettes on the table, and usually use one.

Right, I need to post a prompt over at [livejournal.com profile] photo_scavenger as it's my month ... and then see if I can catch up with you all
debris4spike: (Default)
I do find life so, so frustrating at present. However, when I look back on a couple of weeks ago life is so much more easier.

I have managed to have a walk each day, without the splint, and using the crutches. It's slow going, but I am managing it, so that's the main thing.

I have also managed to get a bit of housework done ... so another positive tick. Today my car is being serviced and MOT'd ... I was slightly worried as it was running out, and I am unable to drive. However the car company have collected it, so hopefully they won't find any major problems, and it will get returned OK.

Last Friday I managed to catch up with someone who used to go to the same Church as me. It was lovely to see her, and just have a couple of hours of gentle chat.

Well other than that, the highlight of the missing few days was a visit to the doctor to sort out the painkillers ... so nothing super-exciting.

I am going to gt some more icons made in a moment. Before that -

13. Have you ever played card games? Do you have a favourite?
When I was at school there used to be a group of us who played Solo Whist, a lot. I loved it.
I have enjoyed other card games when I have had a chance.

14. It’s National American Teddy Bear Day! Do you have any teddy bears?
I have loads! Including the first bear I ever had … and on my bed is the teddy that was my first Christmas present, and the one that’s my first birthday present.
But downstairs I also have the bear that Mum had as a kid
And, as I say, loads more.

15. Do you give names to inanimate objects such as your car, your computer or other items?
No

16. Are you a fan of ‘fast food’? When was the last time you visited a fast food restaurant?
When I am out by myself then I pick fast-food, as it's cheep and quick. Normally when I am in London that's my lunch for the day.

17. Do you use placemats when you eat at the dining table?
Yes.
Although Mum & Dad had a proper protective cover, as they preferred that with the tablecloth. I suppose it means you can move things around easily that way.

Right, let's see what you are all doing?

Wet Wednesday

Wednesday, November 12th, 2025 11:26 am
debris4spike: (Default)
November is certainly living up to it's reputation ... damp, grey, bleak ... just generally yukky!

I actually am going to hobble into work later as I want to drop a small gift off to my colleague. She has had eye surgery, and starts back again tomorrow. She had a "food parcel" delivered to me the day after I came back from the hospital. Which was amazingly thoughtful, although ironically I couldn't actually eat much of it, as I am allergic to butter. So I just wanted to get her something as a "welcome back" gift ... a few pamper items, is what I chose.

While at the hospital I shall go and see the volunteer who is receiving long-term hospital care. There's a probability he will be transferred to Salisbury for rehab, so although it will be better for him, it's still hard as all his friends live this way.

I will be wearing the splint to do this, as it's a lot of walking. However around the house I am hobbling around with a "naked" leg!!

Now I want to get on with some icons so will get on. As ever -

12. Are there any natural red heads in your family?
Not that I know of.

Right, let's see what you are doing? Catch up with you all.

Friday, June 6th, 2025 11:07 am
debris4spike: (Default)
81 years ago the Allies landed in Northern France.

One of my friends landed on Gold beach.  He was such a lovely man, who I used to meet every year at a Remebrance Day service in London.  One of my treasures is actually the Sweetheart Broach he gave his wife when he went to war in the beginning of 1940.  He had twin daughters and apparently they wanted me to have it, as they knew we were good friends.  So special.  Another friend landed on +3, and was always talking about that!

Dad was in London working on the docks and saw much of the activity up to a few days before the 6th June.  Mum was in the middle of England and until the end of May was aware of a lot of transport heading south ... then nothing!

It is good to remember small events on a big day of history.

~ ~ ~

I ended up having a lazy morning before work yesterday, but today am being busy ... done some housework, as well as made some ginger biscuits.

After lunch I am yet again heading into work. Hopefully it will be as good as shift as yesterday. On Wednesday afternoon, despite it being only a short shift, it was chaos, so I was certainly glad to get home!

So, before I head out -

5. When you visit somewhere new, do you research anything about the area?
Yes
I love, love, love sightseeing ... so nice to know what's worth seeing, as well as the basic history of the area.

6. Do you have a membership to any local organisations (e.g. gym, museum, art gallery, local group, etc)? How often do you use your membership (and what’s the advantage of having it?)
Not a local one, but a national one - National Trust. I ususally use it 5 - 15 times a year. Even visiting the local houses there is always something new to see.

Right, I want to make some icons if I can

Another Concrete Sky

We had rain earlier ... but sadly it is just a very bleak morning now.  Still, I suppose a lot of people really don't enjoy February.  Maybe that's the reason.

I heard today that my friend Ana (remember I went to her wedding a couple of summers ago) has had to have an early Caesarian.  She is 37 weeks along, but apparently they have been monitoring her, as the baby was small.  And, it hasn't grown at all over the last couple of weeks.  Lily, who is 2 was a week late, yet she only weighed 5lbs ... so she does grow tiny babies, but this one is even smaller.  So they are taking her in tomorrow.  I just pray for her and the baby's safety.

I really can't think of any other news, exciting, or not.  So -

19. What is your favourite flavour of chocolate (for example, with mint, salted caramel, with nuts or something else?). Is there a chocolate flavour combination you dislike?
I do like mint with chocolate ... after all, I am a "Cadbury" girl, yet I never say no to an After Eight Mint, and they are by Nestle.

Rightt I shall get on.

Catching Up

Tuesday, January 28th, 2025 11:51 am
debris4spike: (Default)
As I spent a lot of time on-line over Thursday & Friday, here, making icons and trying to sort something out for a friend, my old eye injury was not happy with me, so in the end I decided to take Saturday off from computers.

Then Sunday was, ae ever, a non-computer day.

yesterday I had Toni come round for some help & advice about a back injury.  Although I gave up my profession 14 years ago now, much of it is still there after 32 years of practice/training.  She was a very regular patient (in fact that's how we met).  So in some ways it was a bit scary to find the osteopathic brain cells again ... but in other ways it was nice to know how much was remembered, how automatic those cells in my brain started again.

Then in the afternoon I had arranged to meet a friend from the Church I used to go to.  She & I had been trying to organise this for ages, so despite the bad weather she ended up picking me up and we went to a garden centre instead of our original plans.  It was a lovely afternoon - in fact it was a good day, overall.

And today I had to be back to tell you what today's "celebration day" is.  Well, if you are going to celebrate something then lets go with one of todays ... International LEGO Day ... so worth me making sure I got back on-line today!  I visited Legoland Windsor in 2018, and will visit again at some point.

When I was 10 I took part in a local LEGO competition, and actually came in first. I got a large box of it, and this shield -
DSC_2289

As I wasn't on-line yesterday I missed the A to Z challenge ... Week 5 – Jan 26 E is for EAST

That took some thinking but then I took the photograph of one of the plates, that had belonged to Mum & Dad (although I don't know where they got it), and there is the reverse ... japan is part of the Orient & the "East"
DSC_2290

DSC_2291

So, now I think we are all up to date ... so ...

25. Are you making a conscious effort to keep fit this year? What activities are you doing?
Yes & no!
I am trying to get back into walking ... and doing a few stretching exercises first thing in the morning.  Nothing serious and that way I hope I will stick to the plan.

26. Where is your favourite place in your home?
I like my study, where I am now.  But also like my comfy  seat in my lounge.
I think it mostly depends on my plan for the day - the time of year ... etc

27. Have you ever been boating?
No

28. Most countries have at least one example of a long-running soap on TV. Do you watch soaps (have you in the past)?
I used to watch Eastenders when it started ... and tended to watch Neighbours, as well, when I was with Mum & Dad, as they had their after-dinner cup of tea while watching it.

Right - I need to get on.

I have icons to post etc , so will also spend some time checking up on you at some point today x
debris4spike: (Default)
... despite the awful weather on my drive there.  It was heavy, heavy rain.  Not nice when you are on a dual carriageway with a lot of lorries around.

Still, it was good to catch up with Toni (& her husband).  They also had her dad and step-mum with them.  So, all in all a good lunch.  It was to celebrate Toni's birthday which is actually tomorrow, but that means her celebrations spread out!

This morning I walked into Exeter as I had to sign a load of paperwork for the sale of the house that I am a trustee for.  Mum & Dad's neighbours had a few family problems (I think I have mentioned this before), so they asked if I would be willing to be a trustee, with a distant cousin.  They were good friends, especially to Mum & Dad, so I said I would.  It's been pretty complicated, but luckily for me I have had very little to do, as the other trustee is a retred solicitor, so he has done much of the stuff.  Hopefully, 18 months on, the house is now sold, so over the next few weeks everything should be finalised.

I am going to get some icons made today before I switch the computer off, again.

But, before I get on -

23. On this day in 1842 Charles Dickens arrived in Boston, Massachusetts, to start a tour of the US (he wrote about it in a travelogue: American Notes for General Circulation). Have you a favourite Dickens novel?

Had to read Oliver Twist at school, but that’s the only one I have read.
However having seen a few films I do like the story of “A Tale Of Two Cities”

24. It’s the International Day of Education – what was your favourite class in school?

Maths
I liked history, as well. Although I was never any good at remembering names, and specific dates, so was advised to drop it when I chose my “options”.

Right, let's get on x
debris4spike: (Default)
Brother’s Day on May 24th honours the brothers in our lives. Whether we have one or many, they hold a special place in our hearts.

Happy-Brothers-Day-Messages-784x441

Yesterday I spent the evening with one of my brothers ... Tim & I get on incredibly well. Sadly Nick has some health problems so I don't see him as much ... but both of them do have a very special place in my heart.

Sorry I haven't been around - the first part of the week I was working. And I was further delayed as a friend asked for a favour ... which, as ever, ended up getting more complicated than expected. So that ended up taking up more time than expected, but that's what friends are for.

Yesterday I was out for the day with Claire (photos to come) and had a great time. As I said I ended up back at their house for dinner. We were talking a lot about their plans for next March, as they are going to have a big "do" to celebrate their 35th anniversary.

Now I have the day off today, so am doing some housework, cooking & baking ... and getting caught up here, I hope. So hardly a lazy day, but hopefully productive.

So, am going to post this, get something to eat, and will be back. But, as ever, I will catch up with the questions -

21. In 1909 the first tennis player to win the 'Career Grand Slam', Fred Perry was born. Do you play tennis or do you prefer to watch?
I had to learn tennis at school … and was hopeless at it. Although used to play a lot of table tennis.
Don’t watch it either.

21. What is the weather like today? Is it hotter/colder than the average for your area?
Today (the 24th) is overcast, and apparently we have rain coming in later. It is a bit cooler than it should be.

21. Édouard Manet - the artist was born in 1832. Have you ever seen any of Manet's paintings?
Had to Google … and will hav seen some at the National Gallery, London

21. Have you ever visited any notable bridges like The Brooklyn Bridge (which opened in 1883 in New York)?
Went to NYC in 1989 so have seen the Brooklyn Bridge.
However my 3 favourite bridges are Tower Bridge, in London; Clevedon Suspension Bridge near Bristol; and The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco

Right, be back later x

I realised that I had missed a couple of temples ... and then this set will finish with a final few from the last day of my holiday (another set to come, and then I'm done!)

About 2/3 of the way on our trip up the Nile, we had to go through the Esna Lock. It's a queue, that seems chaotic, but obviously done on every trip -

One of the Temples we went to was that of Kom Ombo dedicated to Sobek. We actually arrived after sunset, so that was fascinating. We also saw the Museum next door ... that contained 300 crocodile mummies ...
At least these crocs are safe ... )

We also had an early start to see < href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temple_of_Edfu">The Temple of Edfu ... which is surprisingly intact ... the roof is in place. We had a "taxi" there and back ...

And another visit</a> <a href= )

it was at Edfu we learnt to count -

Yet again I had arranged to meet a friend for a walk, and look what started as I drove towards her ... rain.  (luckily the roads were quiet, so i could snap the shot, as my camera was round my neck).  So we met at venue #2 ... a coffee shop and had a chat instead.
DSC_4405

Yesterday the course went better than expected ... after all this was an annual Resuss training and bi-annual health & safety training.  However the group was good, and it was great to spend the day with others who were upset with the new system we are working with ... here is the venue of the day.
1710503237914

Tomorrow I am also hoping to meet someone else for a walk, so hopefully will have photos to share (yes, I know I still haven't done many of Egypt, but they will come, but not now until at least the end of next week ... Sorry.

I have work later, so this is only a brief visit ...

In the UK it's Comic Relief Red Nose Day - a day to raise money for charity. Red noses are available to buy in various places - have you ever worn a red nose?
Only when I've had a cold!!!

Right, let's get on and get sorted for the rest of my day.

Hope you are all well x

What A Lovely Day

I had arranged to meet my friend from work, for a walk ... we have had to alter the date a few times, and today we stuck to it. However, with the bad weather and she had hurt her back we just met up for coffee/tea and a chat instead. Great to catch up ... not as good for the exercise though.

It's quite bright now, but waiting for an engineer about the internet cable, so can't go for a stroll!

Oh well, no excuse not to get some hosework done, though.

Anyway ... here is my drive home -

Before I post this -

Shrove Tuesday - will you be having pancakes today? Do you make your own crêpes?
Oh yes - I shall have lemon & sugar tonight (as I remembered to buy a lemon ... otherwise it would have been syrup)

Hope you are all having a good day don't forget the pancakes!!
debris4spike: (Default)
I went to a funeral yesterday .... Back in 1966 we moved back to Essex and our next-door neighbours were a family with a girl 5 years older than me, and a boy 3 years older than her.  In 1986 we moved to the West Contry and just after Mum & Dad moved to Torquay our neighbours parents moved there as well ... so we never really lost touch.  Sadly Keith has not had the best of health recently, and passed away a couple of weeks ago.

So  I went to the service, and was going to head home, but Liz asked me to go to the crematorium service, and then back for the wake.  So I stayed for that.  I was almost the last ready to leave, in the end, but Liz asked me not to go, so we could catch up afterwards.  Considering I had been sitting with her most of the day I was suprised ... but pleased.

We are hoping to meet up again later in the year, as wwll.

So I was late back yesterday and didn't log on.

Now I am here, having walked to the shops, and after lunch I will be going into work .

Let me do the photo catch up ...

Yesterday I drove to this village near Torquay
9th February (1)
And then we drove to the Crematorium, where I spotted this tree of memory -

Today I walked the longer way to the shops, and as you can see, I spotted a couple of bright splashes -

Right, let's get on ... and as tomorrow is Sunday I wont be on-line ... so

9 - National Pizza Day. Have you ever made one from scratch - what are your favourite toppings?
I have a scone based recipe I make from time to time.
But basically I like meat based ones … but please not an Haywain (I love pineapple, but not on a pizza)

10 - Do you own an umbrella or do you hate using them?
I lived in Bude on the West coast of England for 25 years … umbrellas don’t survive, so got used to not using them. However now I am 10 mins walk from work, yes, I do use them now.

11 - International Day of Women and Girls in Science - can you name a female scientist?
Marie Curie
Helen Sharman

Right, I will catch up with you all on Monday x
debris4spike: (Default)
Yes, life got away from me again .... I worked in clinic this morning, which in itself was confusing, as I don't normally do that on a Thursday morning!

Then I met up with my childhood neighbours as they are back in Exeter, as her brother has had a heart attack.  Luckily for him he was in hospital, which saved his life.  He is still finding the amputation hard to com  to terms with ... and has yet to start on his Chemo, so life is tough at present.  Still it was good to atch up with Liz & Steve, as I brought them back to my place to give them a break from the hospital.  They are back to Essex on Saturday, and hope they can spend some time there as Steve's sister-in-law is over from Australia for a few weeks.

Now I want to post a few photos from the Bygones Museum ... Victorian streets, shops, and WWI, WWII memorabilia ....

27 – Refreshment Day: What is your go-to refreshment on hot summer days? Is this something you enjoy year-round, or that you mainly drink in the summer?
HotTea ... and cold water

Right, let's try and catch up x
debris4spike: (Default)
That phrase is one my Grandmother, and then Mum, used all the time. Their theory was that if you tried to do anything silly, or dangerous, or just plain wrong, then someone you knew (or a friend of a friend) would see you.

Well yesterday I had just started my shift when I had to help a lady with dementia for a few minutes. As I was walking back towards my desk I almost bumped into a couple as I walked round the corner, who were on their way in to visit her brother ... and ... they both said "Deborah". As I looked at them I realised I knew them, well. She and I were actually next-door neighbours when we were kids. It was her that did the beautiful picture I have of Jiffy on my lounge wall.

So that was really lovely to see them. We have been trying to meet up for a weekend for ages, but assorted problems have been against us. Now the 3 of us are settling down, it is the brother who has problems. When I was a young teen, he had been diagnosed with leukaemia. This had been fairly under control until recently, so now he is 75, it has been a good run. However he is in hospital awaiting a lower leg amputation for diabetic damage. But, as ever, the 2 problems are "arguing" against each other. Sadly it doesn't help that his partner is an alcoholic who hasn't once visited in the 20+ days he has been in hospital

Anyway, sad news, but still good to see them both ... and will probably see them again when I am at work later. They aim to visit as he is due to have his op on Tuesday.

So, as I said, walk round a corner and all but bump into someone who lives over 250 miles away.

"You can't, can you?"

Right, have shopping and baking to do. This week is going to be quieter which means that I can get all sorts of things done. I want to get the house cleaned, even without Brenda visiting soon, it needs a good sort out. I also want to get things like my fridge-freezer thawed and cleaned.

But, before I head off ...

10 – Don't Step on a Bee Day: is an important reminder that the fate of the common bee lies in the balance – with bee numbers in some countries having halved in the last decade with no apparent cause. Some localities are taking measures to help the bee population, for example, planting wildflowers by the side of roads/on road medians or encouraging residents to move away from a manicured lawn to a yard full of flowers. Are you aware of any such measures where you live? Do you agree that if bees disappear, life would change significantly for humans (and not in a good way)?
I have been pleased to see bees in my garden this summer. I have tubs of flowers and it's nice to see them, but nicer to see bees being busy.
And, on a side note, as my name means "bee", maybe if we lose all bees, we will lose all Deborah's as well ... and that would be a tragedy!!!!!!!!!

Right, on that note, let me get on. I aim to get out first, then come back and check up on you all x

10 "People"

I have made a set of 10 icons for round 22 of [livejournal.com profile] gen10in30 ... and the theme is people. Well, I think some of these are people ... the rest are either myself, or my family (do we count as people?)

6 7 8 9 10
6 7 8 9 10

As ever, all are snaggable, but credit would be appreciated.  The photographs are all taken by me, or on my camera, of me.   The credits are available over at my icon journal - [livejournal.com profile] d4s_icons

Sorry for the non-Spuffy fans ... you have just had 2 lots of posts from me already.   Today is my posting day at [livejournal.com profile] seasonal_spuffy and as you can guess, I made some icons, but also had an idea for a fic and went with it.  Having not written anything for some time I dread to think how my grammer went, but decided to post it anyway.

But now we are back to a normal Saturday post ... well, normal for me, so just a ramble about nothing special!

Let me start by wishing [livejournal.com profile] spikereader a happy birthday ... she is one of the few people I have met, so although not here now I didn't wat to miss the post.  I also want to wish DJ a happy birthday ... He was a very special friend to me, so hope, if still alive, he is having special people with him now.

The weather, so far, is looking good.  So I am going to have a walk this morning once I have finished here,  It's nice to actually have a day off where the weather is being kind to me, for a change.

Tomorrow is Sunday, so Church in the morning ... although I do have a shift booked for the afternoon/evening.  Not a personal choice of working Sunday, but the welcome/reception desk is short-staffed so I do agree to them, although won't work the morning half of the day as I really don't want to miss Church.

I am hoping to catch up with Christine later, as we normally chat on a Sunday.  As I am also off on MOnday we are hoping to possibly meet up, but as yet, no real plans.  However, in the hope we can sort out something ...

13 – World Fair Trade Day: Do you try to buy certified fair trade products?
Not especially ... I don't drink coffee, or eat bananas ... but buy tea & chocolate by brand. I know there are other things, but they are 4 popular examples

14 – World Migratory Bird Day: World Migratory Bird Day is observed twice a year during the second Saturday in May and again on the second Saturday in October. The goal is to raise awareness of issues affecting migratory birds and to inspire action around the world to take measures for their conservation. Do you live in a region that sees bird migrations in the spring and fall? Light pollution is a major threat to migratory birds. Does your municipality have any "Dim the Lights" policies in place to protect migratory birds?
The house the Mum & Dad had in Bude, for 11 years, was actually overlooking wet lands, so we got very used to seeing the seasons change

15 – Bring Flowers to Someone Day: When was the last time someone gave you flowers? When was the last time you brought flowers to someone else?
The last flowers I had was a bouquet from work when Jiffy died ... a stunning suprise.
I took flowers round to Claire when she had her latest op ... when I go to either sister-in-law for food I take drink, as they buy themselves flowers, so nice to take something else.

Right, let's get on and have a look through you latest posts ... and then go and enjoy the sun xx

... Yes, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] kazzy_cee's inspiration I gave it a go this morning.  She is always positive about her classes, and I mentioned that I couldn't seem to get motivated she sent me the links to 2 seperate classes within my city.  I contacted both ... and heard nothing.  However in the meantime we have a local community centre so thought I would see if they had anything at all, and went this morning.  So 5 mins walk each way.

I have had confirmation though ... my body co-ordination is literally nothing!  However I will go again, although ironically can't go next week as I am working, but it will be good to actually do something, and Karen seems a nice lady (maybe it's the name that has helped the positive vibes!).

Overall it might not be for me, but at least I am trying something.  So, let's "watch this space"

I have work later, so all in all a busy day ... but busy for good reasons.

Now I must get on -

23 – Peanut Month: do you like peanuts? Peanut butter?
Yes, and yes ... in fact one of the favourite biscuits I make are peanut butter ones!

Right, let's try to catch up with you all

Yes, I ended up working for 11 hours on Thursday, and then a 7 hour day yesterday.  So came home exhausted on Thur and tired yesterday.  So, on both days I was a good girl ... yes, I know, hard to believe.  I went straight to bed on Thur, and then yesterday sat and watched some TV and did a crossword puzzle before an early night, as well.

Then this morning I didn't turn my alarm on, and yes had a 12 hour sleep.

So when I went to the shops I was again lazy and took the car rather than walk the couple of miles there.  Lazy, but am trying to have a truly lazy day today.

Tomorrow I have Church as always, but after that I am actually "breaking" my "rule" in that I am meeting a friend and walking into the city with her ... it is Ana's hen do.  They both know it isn't something I would normally do, but am happy to celebrate with her ... especially as out of the 12 people invited 7 people are busy, although a couple of the excuses were defianately vague.  So that makes me doubly glad that I said "yes" ... to me supporting friends is something that I think is important.  Mind you, I shall feel ancient as all the others are 1/2 my age!  We are going to an escape room (don't know what happens there, so can let you know), and then for a pizza (with the groom, as he has Lily for the missing time).  Ana is breast-feeding, thus the low-key day.

So, I caught up with you on Wednesday ... but need to do that agin later, as well.  Before I sign off, for now -

21. If babies are considered innocent, when do people cease to be innocent?
Once they begin to think and make decisions for themselves

22. What would you genetically change about humans to make them a better species?
Nothing

23. Have you ever worked retail?
My first Saturday job was when I was 16 1/2 and I ina Health Food Store until I was 18
Thene while at college I worked in an independant Departmental Store, Saturdays & holidays. I worked on the linen, toys, china & electrical depts. The last one for 3 of the 4 years. During my holidays I could be moved anywhere though, and in fact one morning worked with Mum who did her 4 years on the jewellery dept.

24. A robot wrote this entire article . Another wrote and performed poetry. Should we be scared?
I work in a hospital where they do a few robotic surgeries. So robots have their uses ... but I think we are a long way from creating a new STNG Data.

Right I am going to sign off so the computer use is off & on as I am being a good, but lazy, girl

Hope you are all having a good weekend x

Sunny Saturday

Well 2 weeks today is my nephew's wedding ... so I hope they also get sunshine, although hopefully a bit cooler.  Apparently Britain has a red weather warning.  I love being English, I really do, but some of the general attitude to weather makes me smile ... 1/4 inch of snow and everything grings to a halt ... now we are due temperatures of 40'C and the same is going to happen.  I know we aren't fully equipped to handle full weather extremes, but then you look across Europe and the weather is hotter for longer, or snowy for longer.  Why do we have to alert people?

People are going to burn & get dehydrated however much warning is given.

Oh well, rant over!

I had a good day yesterday.  Met up with Toni & Pete and she admitted to knowing she is getting depressed.  We had met roughly half way between the 2 of us, and she thanked me for getting her out of the house for something that wasn't a hospital appointment.  Anyway we ended up having a lovely couple of hours.

Then I had messaged Ana to see if she was around, so in the afternoon I walked the 3 miles there, and spent a lovely couple of hours with the 3 of them.  Martin finished work about 1/2 way through and as he worked from home it was nice to spend time with them ... and get to cuddle Lily ... she really is growing, and getting to be one tough girl.  Considering she is only about 10 weeks old she really is trying to sit herself up and is a real wriggler. ...

And, for those who wonder, her t-shirt says "Grandpa's partner in crime"

Well today I have done some shopping, now I am here.  I wasn't going to do any more fence painting, but noticed a missed a bit on the part I have done, so want to get that done, then shall do a bit more while I have the stuff out.  I have done the bits that are noticable, but have a section of fence by the shed, as well as 1/2 the shed still to do.  So I suppose doing some more means there is less to do in the future.

Before I do that, though, I am going to sort some icons, and have something to eat ... chicken salad.  But, as ever -

15. What was the last fruit you ate?
I eat fruit twice a dy, I think I had an orange after tea yesterday

16. If sacrificing your own life would save the lives of a specific number of strangers, how many strangers would need to be saved for you to sacrifice your own life? What if the people were friends? How about family?
No question - yes I would. But even though I have never been in the military, that's part of the reason many enrol.

17. July 17 is "World Emoji Day". Do you use emojis?
A few, here and there in WhatsApp messages ... but really that's about all

And, for the observant, yes I ave done Monday as well as it's a long shift at work.

Hope you are all having a good weekend.  Will try to catch up with you all later, but if not, see you Tuesday xx
