I went to a funeral yesterday .... Back in 1966 we moved back to Essex and our next-door neighbours were a family with a girl 5 years older than me, and a boy 3 years older than her.  In 1986 we moved to the West Contry and just after Mum & Dad moved to Torquay our neighbours parents moved there as well ... so we never really lost touch.  Sadly Keith has not had the best of health recently, and passed away a couple of weeks ago.

So  I went to the service, and was going to head home, but Liz asked me to go to the crematorium service, and then back for the wake.  So I stayed for that.  I was almost the last ready to leave, in the end, but Liz asked me not to go, so we could catch up afterwards.  Considering I had been sitting with her most of the day I was suprised ... but pleased.

We are hoping to meet up again later in the year, as wwll.

So I was late back yesterday and didn't log on.

Now I am here, having walked to the shops, and after lunch I will be going into work .

Let me do the photo catch up ...

Yesterday I drove to this village near Torquay

And then we drove to the Crematorium, where I spotted this tree of memory -

Today I walked the longer way to the shops, and as you can see, I spotted a couple of bright splashes -

Right, let's get on ... and as tomorrow is Sunday I wont be on-line ... so

9 - National Pizza Day. Have you ever made one from scratch - what are your favourite toppings?
I have a scone based recipe I make from time to time.
But basically I like meat based ones … but please not an Haywain (I love pineapple, but not on a pizza)

10 - Do you own an umbrella or do you hate using them?
I lived in Bude on the West coast of England for 25 years … umbrellas don’t survive, so got used to not using them. However now I am 10 mins walk from work, yes, I do use them now.

11 - International Day of Women and Girls in Science - can you name a female scientist?
Marie Curie
Helen Sharman

Right, I will catch up with you all on Monday x

What a lovely tree of memories.

I thought of Rosalind Franklin and Maggie Aderin Pocock when I saw the female scientist question. And I think Katherine Johnson probably counts.

I don't like Hawaiian pizzas either. A lot of people do. And like you I eat pineapple seperately LOL. 10. I have a beautiful vintage umbrella from a museum with Steinlen cats all over it. 11. I'm thinking of the female scientist who actually WAS THE ONE who created the DNA molecular model, called the Watson Crick model, only, she bowed out because one of those men was just problematic and sexist. And now, I can't think of her name. '
