Sunny Saturday

Well 2 weeks today is my nephew's wedding ... so I hope they also get sunshine, although hopefully a bit cooler.  Apparently Britain has a red weather warning.  I love being English, I really do, but some of the general attitude to weather makes me smile ... 1/4 inch of snow and everything grings to a halt ... now we are due temperatures of 40'C and the same is going to happen.  I know we aren't fully equipped to handle full weather extremes, but then you look across Europe and the weather is hotter for longer, or snowy for longer.  Why do we have to alert people?

People are going to burn & get dehydrated however much warning is given.

Oh well, rant over!

I had a good day yesterday.  Met up with Toni & Pete and she admitted to knowing she is getting depressed.  We had met roughly half way between the 2 of us, and she thanked me for getting her out of the house for something that wasn't a hospital appointment.  Anyway we ended up having a lovely couple of hours.

Then I had messaged Ana to see if she was around, so in the afternoon I walked the 3 miles there, and spent a lovely couple of hours with the 3 of them.  Martin finished work about 1/2 way through and as he worked from home it was nice to spend time with them ... and get to cuddle Lily ... she really is growing, and getting to be one tough girl.  Considering she is only about 10 weeks old she really is trying to sit herself up and is a real wriggler. ...

And, for those who wonder, her t-shirt says "Grandpa's partner in crime"

Well today I have done some shopping, now I am here.  I wasn't going to do any more fence painting, but noticed a missed a bit on the part I have done, so want to get that done, then shall do a bit more while I have the stuff out.  I have done the bits that are noticable, but have a section of fence by the shed, as well as 1/2 the shed still to do.  So I suppose doing some more means there is less to do in the future.

Before I do that, though, I am going to sort some icons, and have something to eat ... chicken salad.  But, as ever -

15. What was the last fruit you ate?
I eat fruit twice a dy, I think I had an orange after tea yesterday

16. If sacrificing your own life would save the lives of a specific number of strangers, how many strangers would need to be saved for you to sacrifice your own life? What if the people were friends? How about family?
No question - yes I would. But even though I have never been in the military, that's part of the reason many enrol.

17. July 17 is "World Emoji Day". Do you use emojis?
A few, here and there in WhatsApp messages ... but really that's about all

And, for the observant, yes I ave done Monday as well as it's a long shift at work.

Hope you are all having a good weekend.  Will try to catch up with you all later, but if not, see you Tuesday xx

As I said a few days ago I am overall feeling slowly better, although that has a couple of downsides (from some points of view).  Yes, I am feeling more me, and after 2.5 years I am enjoying that ... which means that I am slowly increasing the hours I am working ... which means I have less time for "me" things (so less LJ time) ... but on the upside the bank balance will be happy, and with a holiday coming up in August, and one in September I need that.  I am also staying overnight the day before a funeral next week (as the funeral is a 3 hour + drive away), and also for Andrew's wedding.    So good & bad

Anyway, I worked this morning and just popped over to see Ana and baby Lily.  Tomorrow I have a day out with Christine, and then the evening at Tim & Claire's.  Saturday I am out a lot of the day at Brenda's father's funeral (also with T&C).  Then Sunday is Church ... and then covering someone's shift at work.  (I don't book Sunday shifts, but feel it is the correct thing to fill in if needed on the areas where I work).  Monday I am off to Guildfor, for Claire's father's funeral on Tuesday.  Wednesday, Thursday, Friday I am working full days .... so I don't know how much LJ time I will get for another 10 days ... so in case I am not aroung much, I will catch up with the meme until the end of the month -

22. What was the last TV show you watched? Did you enjoy it?
Great Sewing Bee last night - yes I enjoyed it, although sad that Marni got a shock vote off a couple of weeks ago (I shall keep that news from Jiffy!)

23. What was the last live performance you went to?
Ghost of the Robot - 2014

24. What is the most expensive thing you're wearing today?

Jewellery ... my grandmothers 1st engagement ring has 2 rubies and a diamond (although my necklace cost me the most as it's a chain I bought when I was in Rome)

25. What's the last dream you remember?
Years since I remembered one

26. Name one item you can't throw out, even if it's not really sparking any joy.

Too many to list - I don't throw anything!

27. Did anything make you laugh today?
Watching Lily smile at her own reflwction (she is 10 weeks old now)

28. If pressing a button meant you received 5 million dollars (or equivalent in your currency) but it also killed 5 people somewhere in the world, would you press it? What if it killed only 1 person or killed 20 people? What if the people were people you knew?
No

29. What makes a good friend?
Honesty
Keeping in touch, whatever
Being willing to drop everything and help, if needed.

30. Do we control technology or is technology controlling us?
It is certainly trying to take over.

Well I hope to pop in as much as I can, but I do wonder how much I will manage ... sorry.

Hope you are all keeping well x

... and not just meaning I need to lose some weight!!

I last posted on Thursday ... wow, how can it be Tuesday today?1?!

Last Friday was another clinic day, and ended up going quite well overall.  In the afternoon I went see Ana & Lily (Martin was out) so we had a good chat ... and as you can see I actually had a hot water bottle to keep me comfy ....

She is so, so tiny.  I can't believe that she is 3 weeks old.

So that was a really lovely afternoon ... but needless to say I was there longer than I expected, so ended up getting back late and decided to have a computer free afternoon/evening, aiming to catch up on the Saturday.

I did a load of shopping, instead.  I also went and got a couple of new tubs for the garden and spent some time pottering around out there and moving things around ... just in time for the rain that we had coming in.

Yes, Sunday was a "normal" Sunday ... Church and then laziness.  So it was a good weekend.

Here, yesterday, it was the May Day Bank Holiday and I collected Christine and we went to a National Trust property (photos to follow).  We had OK weather ... but as I had a text from Tim in the afternoon to say it had been raining off & on in Exeter, so I was glad that we had meade the effort to do a day trip.  Greenway is the house that Agatha Christiel ived in with her second husband, and yes, they do have a first edition of each of her books.  I hope to get the photos sorted out tomorrow, as I am not working.

This morning it was work, again.  As ever people are odd!  the last patient had phoned to cancel as he was having car trouble ... fair enough, these things happen.  However 3/4 hour after his due time he turned up as he got a lift, but no, he didn't actually ring to see if it was OK!  Yes, Chandhu was in a good mood, so we wnded up seeing him.

And now it's now!

I will hopefully catch up with you later, but can't guarantee it ... if not today. then tomorrow..  But before I post this, I need to catch up -

29. What technology from a science fiction movie or TV show would you most love to have?
Teleportation ... oh to be able to travel from A to B instantaineously

30. April 30 is "Hairstyle Appreciation Day". How would you describe your hairstyle?
Unchanged since a teenager

1. Is it more or less difficult to be successful in the modern world than it was in the past (10, 50, 100, or 1,000 years ago)?
Less - everyone will know how you are doing ... some years ago it was only other people in the community you are against.

2. What do you like to do in the spring?
No different from any other season, really

3. Is teaching a skill that can be taught?
No - all my teachers went to college to train, and only some of them were good teachers ... whereas at college no one had trained, and again not all of them were good, or bad, teachers.

Well, I think I am now actually up to date ... now to sort out the photos from yesterday.

And thus didn't log on here yesterday. I went to visit my friends, to say Hi to baby Lily .... she is timy (was on'y 5:3lb, at birth) ... here the family is on the day of her birth -
IMG-20220406-WA0006

It was lovely seeing them all (and their dog) and catching up with them.  They have one tough problem in that his family live on the Isle of Man, and her's in Portugal, so there is no-one local who can pop in to make them a cup of tea and let them unwind.  But, overall, they are very happy together, and work well together ... so that's truly lovely to see.

Clinics yesterday and today were OK and I was home slightly early on both days.  Yesterday was slightly stressful as I was working with Maya again, and, no, she hadn't bought an iron, so she was yet againg looking rumpled.  But I was a good girl and din't comment on it.  Overall I had to count to 10 rapidly on various occasions, as patiemce has never really been my forte.

How are you all?  I will try and catch up later.

I have icons to make, and phone calls to make.  I missed one from Toni this morning, and over the weekend I tried phoning Auntie Mary and didn't get an answer, which is a bit of a worry.  But, before I do that -

11. What is something that really annoys you, but doesn't seem to bother most other people?
People not arriving early ... and even worse, people who are late

12. Has anyone ever saved your life (literally, not figuratively)?
I have had my hand's mobility etc saved ... but not my life

Well, I think that's me up to date.

Yes, the weather is lovely ... I only got home at 2.30 having done some work in Admin as well. Now I am here doing this, and am going to head out for a short walk, despite being tired it will be nice to have a few minutes in the fresh air & sunshine.

The Baby Shower went well ... although a couple of her friends dropped out as they were "busy" ... I will admit I wasn't impressed with the food, but the location and the friendship was fun. We all filled in a form asking "what colour hair/eyes, how big will the baby be" etc ... I wonder if any of us will get the facts right (if so, do we get a prize ... or ar we just exept from babysitting!!)

Sunday was a nice lazy day ... our pastor is doing a Lent series of 6 sermons ... actually all based on Dad's favourite verse of the Bible. So it is good, and nice to hear the Bible reading each week.

Now work today ... and will again tomorrow. However I am going for a walk to the cemetery in the afternoon, and then meeting Claire, and walking to meet Tim ... the 3 of us are going to celebrate what would have been Mum & Dad's Platinum Anniversary. So here are 2 days -

21. Should taxpayers have the option to explicitly say what they don’t want their tax money spent on?
No - everyone would have different ideas, and overall national bills need to be paid, whatever you think about them.

22. What is the TL,DR (too long, didn't read) version of your life?
Born ... still living 60 years on

Well that's me - hope to see you Wednesday

Day 20 → a picture of you taken over 20 years ago

Last time we did this it was a photo of 10 years ago, and I shared a couple of photos, including one of me aged 4.  Anyway I have 3 photos to share of yours truly ....ExpandMe )

Just A Mini-Me Ramble

Well I had quite a good day - getting things done that I had been procrastinating about.

I de-frosted my freezer, so now I can see what I have in there ... and what I don't have!

I went for a walk - trying to get some exercise ... not as good as riding, but I have got to do something ... otherwise I shall start to look pregnant!
.... and, speaking of pregnant, I had a weird dream yesterday where I had given birth to a baby girl.  The whole story was one of those that were set in the present time ... and seemed to even have an explanation as to why I was a single (and happy) mum!

No luck on the job front, although I manage to find something to apply for most days - I said when I decided to do this, the right job is out there.  So by trying in ots of directions, then I shall end up where I should be.
.... and speaking of which, I do want to thank you for your love and support.

I did a bit more to my fic, which is slowly taking form - some time yet before it's ready to post, but at least I am positive about it.

And James Q&A is up - so that was fun ... especially as he said he would bring back school uniforms ... brilliant idea!

So, that seems to be my news ... unless you want to know about the 2 new bras I bought!!  (One came complete with pants ... so for the first time ever I have matching undies!)

Well, I shall put the computer onto defrag while I make a cuppa - Vampire Diaries are on soon, so must be ready for that.
