... and not just meaning I need to lose some weight!!

I last posted on Thursday ... wow, how can it be Tuesday today?1?!

Last Friday was another clinic day, and ended up going quite well overall.  In the afternoon I went see Ana & Lily (Martin was out) so we had a good chat ... and as you can see I actually had a hot water bottle to keep me comfy ....

She is so, so tiny.  I can't believe that she is 3 weeks old.

So that was a really lovely afternoon ... but needless to say I was there longer than I expected, so ended up getting back late and decided to have a computer free afternoon/evening, aiming to catch up on the Saturday.

I did a load of shopping, instead.  I also went and got a couple of new tubs for the garden and spent some time pottering around out there and moving things around ... just in time for the rain that we had coming in.

Yes, Sunday was a "normal" Sunday ... Church and then laziness.  So it was a good weekend.

Here, yesterday, it was the May Day Bank Holiday and I collected Christine and we went to a National Trust property (photos to follow).  We had OK weather ... but as I had a text from Tim in the afternoon to say it had been raining off & on in Exeter, so I was glad that we had meade the effort to do a day trip.  Greenway is the house that Agatha Christiel ived in with her second husband, and yes, they do have a first edition of each of her books.  I hope to get the photos sorted out tomorrow, as I am not working.

This morning it was work, again.  As ever people are odd!  the last patient had phoned to cancel as he was having car trouble ... fair enough, these things happen.  However 3/4 hour after his due time he turned up as he got a lift, but no, he didn't actually ring to see if it was OK!  Yes, Chandhu was in a good mood, so we wnded up seeing him.

And now it's now!

I will hopefully catch up with you later, but can't guarantee it ... if not today. then tomorrow..  But before I post this, I need to catch up -

29. What technology from a science fiction movie or TV show would you most love to have?
Teleportation ... oh to be able to travel from A to B instantaineously

30. April 30 is "Hairstyle Appreciation Day". How would you describe your hairstyle?
Unchanged since a teenager

1. Is it more or less difficult to be successful in the modern world than it was in the past (10, 50, 100, or 1,000 years ago)?
Less - everyone will know how you are doing ... some years ago it was only other people in the community you are against.

2. What do you like to do in the spring?
No different from any other season, really

3. Is teaching a skill that can be taught?
No - all my teachers went to college to train, and only some of them were good teachers ... whereas at college no one had trained, and again not all of them were good, or bad, teachers.

Well, I think I am now actually up to date ... now to sort out the photos from yesterday.

What a lovely picture.

I am thinking about whether teaching can be taught... I think it helps to be taught some of the essential nuts and bolts. I did a City & Guilds* Teaching course run by the School of Nursing*, as a ward sister and I think it was useful - but it was only 1 day a week for an academic year.

But there are 'non-teaching' things that school teachers don't seem to be taught these days as they dash from obtaining their degree to teaching so quickly - such as the young man teaching Year 1 children who couldn't understand why a 6 year old child who drank a 300ml bottle of water at 10.00am might need to go for a wee before 12.30 - he could drink 300ml and not need to go for 2.5 hours after all...

*Defunct terminology dates me :)
