Win-Win Morning

I walked into work this morning only to find that the clinic had been cancelled a couple of weeks ago and no one had told me.  So, I put my coat back on and headed home ... lucky I am only about 10 mins walk away!  As I was leaving I was assured that I would get paid for the shift anyway ... WIN # 1

So, as it was dry I decided that I would have a walk ... not a fast "exercise walk, but I was out & about for about 1/2 hour ... complete with camera.  So I managed a photo-friday with the signs of Spring around.  Lucky that we didn't get any snow after all ... WIN # 2

So, here's the proof -

So, as you can see lots of colour, if you keep your eyes open.

Right, I need to get on and not waste the day completely.  So, before I post this -

10 – Middle Name Pride Day: not everyone has one, do you? Is there a story behind your middle name or why you don’t have one?
Jacqueline ... Dad was John James ... so that's where the name comes from.  Mum & Dad never wanted to name any child John ( even though that had been the tradition for centuries).  But, Dad, Dad's father, Dad's maternal uncle, and both of Dad's grandfather's were John ... so it got conplicated.
Mum & Dad did aim to give me 2 middle names - Jacqueline Victoria (as both my grandmother's had that as their middle name), but decided that 36 letters was just too long

Right, let's see what you are all up to x

Sorry I haven't been around much this week - but have been busy at work, and also had to do a load of e-Learning as I have a course next week, and have to have done "homework" before I got there.  So even though I actually had a day off yesterday I ended up on the computer for over 5 hours ... that much work & pc use meant I didn't want to do anything else ... the brain is still slightly scrambled (or should I say, more scrambled than normal!)

So a busy few days ... but just before I dissappeared I did make these 4 icons for challenge 140 from [livejournal.com profile] your_favourites, with the challenge of "favourite witch", and yes, I like Tara from BtVS ... but my favourites have to be Endora & Samantha from Bewitched ... the 1960's TV show that I grew up with!

Now I have had this afternoon off, and although I really want to get my conservatory cleaned that's a job for another day ... so instead I went for a walk round the block ... spring sunshine ... really lovely (and a great escuse for Photo Friday!

So, now I am up to date, well I have done a post, but I haven't answered my meme ... so, here goes -

2. What was one of the most interesting concerts you've been to? What was interesting about it?
I have only been to a few ... James Marsters & Ghost of the Robot.  However I went to leads as a musician ... and one was when the orchestra played "Peter & the Wolf", and I was the clarinetist soloist ... full circle, as Dad had the rcord and when I heard it I loved the music & sound of the cat, which helped me to decide to learn the instrument ... but, it's a real challenge of a piece to play.  So, amazing & interesting.

3. What did you Google last (or Bing, or Duck-Duck-Go, or otherwise search for online)?
Earlier in the week I was working on a Stargate Atlanti fic (my personal challenge) and was trying to remember facts, and failing ... so it was easier to Google to remember which episode I needed to look into further

4. What odd smell do you really like?
I used to love the smell of Jiffy when he was slightly damp.
I used to work near a brewery and I loved the smell of the beginning of the brew process (Mum hated it)

Well, that's me ... I hope to catch up later, but don't know if I will have the brain power!

Enjoy the evening

Yesterday I decided I would walk into Exeter in the morning as I needed to take some photos, mainly to try to catch up on [livejournal.com profile] photo_scavenger, but also to get the PhotoFriday done.  So started a fun morning ... on my way I stopped for a slurp of water and decided to text Claire to see if she fancied meeting me for a cuppa (she doen't work Fridays), and yes, she said ... great.  However it would be in the afternoon.  So I decided to agree and spend some time in Exeter, just being "me".  It is something I realise I have to work on, as it is something I have never really done before.

my first stop was to walk to the cathedral as one of the prompts was "stone", and you can't get better that the ceiling built of stone, in the 1250 - 1260 era.  So, as ever I pottered round the cathedral for a bit and then heard there was going to be a free guided tour so decided to join it.  It was fun, and over the hour I learnt a lot of interesting and fun facts, most of which I hadn't already learnt!  Here are a few pictures of the cathedral -

The font .... however in the seventeenth century it was not used for one of the christening.  King Charles I daughter was born in Exeter while the family (not the King) were fleeing to France ... however a special gold bowl was crafted for the service instead!

I then headed for a late lunch, a panini, and some crisps!  So almost healthy!  Then I pottered round M&S and managed to get the boots I wanted, before heading to where I was meant to meet Claire for our cuppa, only to find it was ("Covid")closed, so text her and we met somewhere we had been before - and, as you can see, we didn't quite have a cup of tea and a piece of cake, as we had planned!

8th_October_(1)
Well there were raspberries in the drink - so, very healthy!

We then met Tim from work and walked home ... about 1/2 way is where we split, so it was good to catch up with them both yesterday afternoon.

So, yes a fun day!

Now we have a weekend again.  I have just popped to the local supermarket as I only needed a couple of things, and met my neighbour (opposite)'s puppy ... he had always been a friend to Jiffy, so it was nice to see the baby.

Well it seems as if this is going to me a mega-post, so will close here, and do the questions before signing off until Monday

8. Have you ever boycotted anything?
Never officially
I have refused to go to some Church services for personal reasons.

9. Do you have any embarrassing usernames?
Debris4spike is my username everwhere ... and Debris was a nickname I had for years before that, so no

10. Have you ever did well on a test when you didn’t study?
Not that I can remember.  I was well "brung-up" ... tests & exams mean revision!

Well hope you are all OK - and that you have a great weekend ... see you Monday x
debris4spike: (Default)
Yes, I am actually going to see my brother, wofe & family ... the first time for 18months.  My other brother & wife will also be there.  That's the advantage of having a big birthday in the family we are making an effort to get together ... hopefully for a BBQ, to spare too much indoors.  However we are technically 2 households, so are not breaking any rules.  But an outside event means one of the boy's girfriends can come.  The original plan had been to hold the event in Exeter, to save the birthday girl having to travel, but my other brother wouldn't have come, so we decided to do the trip.  It's actually easier for us 3 to travel than the other 7 or 8.  I shall sleep overnight on the sofa so it means I can have a drink, but then probably head off after breakfast as it's Father's Day, and I would imagine Nick would prefer me gone, but shall see how the morning progresses.

So away tomorrow, then whatever time i come home it will be Sunday, so I shan't be back till Monday ... Hope you all have a good weekend.

Today, complete with camera, I had a 5 mile walk, so have photos to share (I also had a lazy morning, not getting up at my normal time), so it's a nice daya s well today ... although in a moment I do have ironing to do from the washing on the line.

On one of the roads I walked down they are trying to change the speed limit, and there were small printed posters on most gates ... and this on one of the garden walls.  I will admit I had presumed the limit was already 20mph as it is 20 in most of the local streets.
DSC_0275

Well I am sure the ironing is calling, and I have the dishwasher to sort out as well.  But before I go -

18. Last time you swam in a pool?
2 years ago I did a sponsored swim for charity.
However I do want to get back to that at some point.

19. Type of music you dislike most?
Some of the stuff my brother listens to!
Actually modern jazz is completely lost on me.

20. How many people have you kissed in a car?
Haven't kissed anyone other than family, anywhere.
debris4spike: (Default)
As I posted a load of photos yesterday I thought I would just take a few photos today, after all it is still a Friday.

So I walked into the city (and caught the bus home to save the blisters!) and took a few close-ups of the Cathedral .... it is amazing to see the stunning work, and history on view. After all the West Front Image Screen of Exeter Cathedral is one of the great architectural features of Medieval England -

4. Have you ever experienced sleep paralysis?
Ummmm, no, don't think so, as I have never heard the phrase!

Happy Weekend

I had an early start yesterday as I had a dentist appointment to try to finally sort out my tooth problem.  Although she didn't think the treatment would work, it actually had ... so I was glad to know that she had saved the tooth and could do the final filling.  However, while there I also needed to show her where I had broken the front tooth off it's plate last week.  So, she took another impression and saod I could be able to pick it up later ... brilliant.

So I decided to go to the shops that where nearby, and that were also the supermarket that Mum & Dad used to go to every week.  In fact over the last couple of years they went, I used to drive them there and take Jiffy for a walk while they shopped.  So, as part of my walking routines and in memory of Jiffy I went for one of the 2 walks we used to do .... up to see the County Court which is just under a mile away -
DSC_0135

This is the car-park between the supermarket and M&S
DSC_0140

DSC_0137

I also walked past the steps that we sometimes walked up to do a different walk, but by then it was starting to rain again, so I didn't go on "both" walks (I know, I' m lazy!)
DSC_0141

So I then went into M&S to have a look to see if there were any nice dresses, which there weren't, but I did buy a pair of shorts.  I then decided to do my shopping at Sainsbury's, and bought a dress & a skirt there, as well.

From ther I went back to M&S for lunch.

I still had a couple of hours to kill, so I decided I would go and visit Heather (the next-door neighbour of Mum & Dad).  I used to go and see them whenever I took Jiffy for a  hair-cut, but with Covid and losing Jiffy I hadn't seen her since last year at Eric's funeral.  Sadly Heather is now totally bed-bound.  So I spent a lovely hour with her, but it was so sad to see her like that ... just thankful that it never happened to Mum or Dad.

Anyway, back to the dentist - but don't know what they did as the plate no longer fit .... at all.  So I will have to go back next week to get that sorted out (again)

Today I have done a 3 mile walk and a bit of housework - so now I am getting caught up here (although I shall catch up with comments later).  However before I get on with other work etc -

21. Do you have any bumper stickers on your car?
An ICTHUS .... ie a Christian fish symbol

22. How many jobs have you had?
One week as a Christmas postman - 1977
Working Saturdays in a Health Food Shop - 1978 - 1979
Saturday job in assorted departments in a privately owned department store Roomes Stores Ltd, 1779 - 1983
Osteopath - 1983 - 2010
Groom (to pay for Jaykub & DJ's keep) - 2000 - 2009
Auxilliary Nurse - 2011 - now

23. What’s your favorite kind of soup?
Chicken

happy weekend everyone x

... And it wasn't raining this morning.  I did a 5 mile walk to and from Exeter to run some errands (including a haircut), and took my camera with me.  So I have photos to share ... yes, there is some more "colour" but also a few views of the city.

Enjoy -

Exeter was a Roman city, and a busy Tudor & Elizabethan trading centre. Sadly much was destroyed in 1942 during one of the Baedeker Raids, but there is still a lot around wherever you look. (And, yes, the wall is still partly around, with part of the original Roman construction still present)

I need to get some baking done, so signing off in a moment ... but -

14. Does your house have air conditioning throughout, or do you have one that sits in your window?
LOL - I'm English ... we open a window!
debris4spike: (Default)
This morning I started with a trip to Torquay (where Mum & Dad used to live), and to St. Marychurch This district is about 2 miles from where we used to live, and from our view it looked as if the Church had a steeple and a tower.  In reallity the 2 Churches are about 100yds apart.

The CoeE is dedicated to St Mary the Virgin and although I couldn't go in it has a Saxon font dating from around 1110 AD. On Sunday May 30, 1943, the main part of this church was destroyed by a German bomb, killing 26 children and teachers.  So, as you can see much of it looks nice & shiny, but presumambly still in the same style.  This is the one with the tower, in the tree filled cememtry.

The Catholic one, with the steeple, is dedicated to Our Lady Help of Christians & St Dennis.  That is an unusual dedication IMHO

So I had a short walk around, before heading to the dentist.  So, now I have a temporary filling in which will be there for a couple of weeks.  She still can't find a reason, but is still doing the slow route to repair.  Thinking, long-term, I do wonder if it is stress related after the ill health & Jiffy's loss.  I eventually lost a front tooth over a long time unresolving problem when Mum died suddenly, and Dad dying a year later.  Hopefully this will be sorted, but I do wonder if I am going to lose this one as well ... watch this space!

So, PhotoFriday & news ... wow, that's a shock!

I was back home in time for a late lunch (eaten carefully), and then a 3 mile walk, as it's sunny, although chilly.  The forecast for the weekend isn't great.

But, as ever -

7. What time is your alarm clock set for?
7.15am Monday - Thursday (with another quarter of an hour's snooze).  The other 3 days, I don't set the alarm

On another note this was also the area where there was a Gibbit!

I Bring Photos

Friday, April 16th, 2021 03:45 pm
debris4spike: (Default)
... so hope I am forgiven for only posting twice this week!  However, as it's PhotoFriday I do have photos to share althought this one was actually taken for on a walk with a friend yesterday -
DSC_0026

I spent over an hour in the opticians in the end.  All they could, eventually, work out was that I have lost a small amount more of my vision in that eye, but my glasses prescription was completely unchanged.  So, all in all, my eyes were fighting the changes to cope.  There wasn't enough of a retina change to actually make me notice it - but the prescription was obviously different, as the view out of that eye was going to be in a different angle.

Yesterday I went for a walk at Haldon with my friend from work.  She is now back at work mornings and overall is doing well.  However it was nice to have that walk to be able to chat.  So that was 2 busy afternoons, so I didn't get round to switching on my computer.

Today I walked into the city the way I would normally drive (a bit further, as it's just over 2 miles that way, so I had a total of just over 4 miles)

So as you can see there is some more Spring colours ... but also to show you a bit more of the city -

Well that's my photos up to date ... I hope that you are all keeping well and safe
debris4spike: (Default)
I have been MIA (still I had been doing well until then!)

I had a lovely walk with Christine on Monday, then a walk by myself on Tuesday, but instead of coming in and turning on the pc, I realised that the Chronic Fatigue had flared up again.  So I had a lazy day, then back to work for Wednesday morning.  However I then made the "mistake" of meeting a friend from work for a walk in the afternoon ... 3.5 miles.  So although it was lovely I really shouldn't have done it.
7th_April_-_Haldon_with_Christine_G_(1)

Then on Thursday it was a busy morning at clinic.  Yes, I did do a 1 mile walk in the afternoon as I am trying to keep my personal promise to walk every day.  I also had a doctors appt to actually check on how things were going.  He has changed my asthma treatment ... although I haven't got the new treatment yet, so I shall have to wait and see how that goes once I start it.  Hopefully if I can get my breathing a bit better it might also help the tiredness.

Anyway, today as day off is also PhotoFriday.  This morning I did a longer different walk as I walked into the city and back ... another 3.5 miles.  I am actually also meeting a friend this afternoon for a stroll.  So, all in all exercise on a day off, with the rest of the weekend with no work if I feel tired.

So, here are a few images I saw on my walk -

. It is less than a mile from me and for the last year that Jiffy was alive we used to go there, by car, most weeks. It was ideal for him to be able to potter and sniff without having to spend a lot of time walking there, or being in the car (especially as Lockdown kicked in)

So here are a few general views, as well as a couple of tombstones that I found interesting -

We had quite a lot of rain overnight - which will have done my newly sorted out garden tubs good. Thankfully the rain stopped earlier this morning, so after cleaning my kitchen floor I went out for a walk, and took the camera with me, so have more Spring colour to share with you all. Actually as I type this the sun is now shining, so I should have waited till now, but having said that I enjoyed my walk today, just local roads, but still nice (and I actually have 2 sets of FridayPhoto posts today, as the camera was quite busy!

Change Of Plan .....

Saturday, March 20th, 2021 02:38 pm
debris4spike: (Default)
... as I was driving to the dentist yesterday there were roadworks, everywhere.  So I got stuck ... and stuck ... and stuck.  So I phoned to see if I could get there late (only about 1/4 of an hour), but no good.  So it's re-booked for next week ... I shall leave very, very early!

Still on the plus side, as I was heading "that" way I carried on and went to visit Jiffy's grave.  While there I also started the process of ordering his tombstone.  So the day wasn't totally wasted.  However I do have a couple of photos to share - that of Jiffy's grave as it is, but also the cemetery itself, which is looking really beautiful with all the Spring flowers.  He is certainly resting in a beautiful, peaceful place.

Well as vere, being Saturday, before I turn off the computer I shall do 2 questions ....

20. What is something you really wanted as a child?
To be able to have clothes bought at a shop ... Mum made all our clothes (even part of our uniforms when she could)

21. What parent are you more like?
I am disorganised like Dad
I love reading fiction like Mum, and factual, like Dad
I love handcrafts like Mum
So I suppose I am the "perfect" mix between them both. Maybe if you ask my brothers you would get a different answer!!

Have a good weekend, everyone - see you on Monday x
debris4spike: (Default)
... that is my morning, so far.  I had a birthday pressie to post, walked a slightly different route, but still some Spring colour, and a couple of pictures of scenes ... all within a mile of where I live.  This FridayPhoto has been good at watching Spring emerge, but it is also good to be able to enjoy my local area.  As you can see I am so lucky to have "countryside" literally "next door"

This afternoon I have a dentist appointment.  I had a check-up booked for just after lockdown started last year but that, of course, got cancelled.  I have had short bursts of pain off & on since in one tooth, but over the last week or so it has got more frequent, as has another tooth started feeling a bit off.  So, although I, like most people, don't like a trip to the dentist, it is certainly better than the alternative.

So, I have some spare time before I leave, which means I have no excuse not to do some housework ;(

But before I turn off the pc - LOL, I have just read the question ... how ironical!

19. Do you have a preferred toothpaste brand?

No, I just like peppermint/freshmint ones, and actually try to alternate the brands & types from purchase to purchase.

I did wonder if I would get to take my photos this morning - so I have PhotoFriday to start with.  Nothing special, just some more Spring colour.

This road is just at the back of me - Jiffy loved walking over that grass in the centre -

And, finally, you can tell I was walking without Jiffy .... he stayed semi-snoozed rather than running away

I had wondered if I would manage to get some photos done as I had my Manual Handling Update this morning at the hospital. It recently was extended to every 3 years, so at least that is a gap now. There were 8 of us that allowed us space, but also meant that we could all try most things. The only thing we did once was using a hoist ... as I was the only one not on a permanent ward contract I volunteered to be the body. We ended up finishing a bit early, and as it wasn't raining I decided to walk to the local shop ... only to find that there was a long queue, so instead I just extended my walk. I was a good girl and had the camera with me - so there are photos.

Some time this afternoon I have a phone call booked from my GP, but other than that no real plans. So maybe icons, maybe knitting, maybe (well, slightly maybe) some housework. We shall just see what the day brings.

One other thing I am trying to do is to finalise the words for Jiffy's gravestone.  Hard to sum him up in a couple of sentances, but I think I am getting there.

Well, I must get on and try and read all your news.  Before that -

12. Where would you like to spend the most time?

I love being in Churches/cathedrals & museums ... but I also love being at home.  One other place I like is looking out over an active seascape

Well you had Welsh at the beginning of the week and now we have another British-Celtic language ... Happy St Piran's Day

Having lived in Cornwall for 25 years I really couldn't ignore this wish to you all.

However today being Friday I have just had a walk round locally, not a long way, but I have to be out soon to collect my brother Tim from hospital ... he is having surgery on some fatty tissue that has developed in his leg, and with Claire not driving, I was "volunteered". However I took my camera for PhotoFriday, and thought I would show you some more Spring colour ... and just a few photos of my corner of this city I live in -

And quickly, before I head out here are the latest 2 questions (didn't turn on the pc yesterday)

4. What is something you want to learn how to do?

I would love to learn to play Bridge

5. How did you wear your hair as a child?

Points to icon ... the blond grew to ringlets until I was about 5 (think Shirley Temple), since then it turned brown and the style has not changed since.

Yes, here are the FridayPhotos ... a day later again.  Sorry

Yesterday I actually did do a short drive (yes, I know I was a naughty girl), to wish Christine a Happy Birthday and to have a walk with her.  We did keep our distance, and met there, so didn't feel too bad about breaking the rules.  I did wonder if I would be able to go though when I left the house as my brakes on my car had sealed "on".  So had problems with noise etc, so went to my garage who said that it just showed my drive had a slight slope (which it does) and I hadn't driven for some time ... yes, over 2 months.  So all they said was I had to drive to get the brake pads smooth again, but that they were perfectly safe!

So as we met early afternoon for our walk I thought I would wait to post the photos.  Then we ended up walking further as there was a new WWI memorial to see (see at end of photos) so ended up getting back a bit later than I planned, so didn't go upstaires to switch on my pc.

So here are my photos around Stover ... a bit poignant as Christine & I had been there a few times with Jiffy.

This is the new memorial to commemorate the Canadian Lumberjacks who were stationed here during WWI.  It was a longer walk than we had planned, but the statues and the memorial were well worth the walk -

The story on Devon Live can be seen here - The story of the Canadian ‘Sawdust Fusiliers’ who cut down Stover's trees during World War One

This morning I did another 2 1/2 mile walk on my way to buy some more milk.  I am trying to be positive and walk a bit more each day.  I am also using my inhaler on a regular basis to try to get this tiredness back under control.  Every day (except yesterday) I have ended up sleeping for about an hour in the afternoon.  So far, so good ... well except for the blister I rubbed on my heal, despite the fact the shoes are not old and they are comfortable.

Today I actually hung washing on the line, as it is very bright, so thought it would be nice to get the bedding outside.

Now, I am a couple of days behind, and have tomorrow to do as well, so here are the DailyMeme questions -

25. What’s the most recent show you’ve binge watched?
LOL - I have been re-watching Hercules, The Incredible Journeys

26. What conclusions did you make about money as a child?
You have to save to get what you want. As Mum & Dad would say "Money doesn't grow on trees!"

27. What would you like to have less of in your work right now?
PPE. I am lucky in that I only need to wear basic PPE, but it is still very hot to wear. I also find it frustrating that in the past few years the NHS has worked hard at cutting back on landfill, but with Covid there has been such an increase for obvious reasons.

28. What did you love to do as a child?
Jigsaw puzzles ... and I still do!

Well, that's me up to date, and it must be getting close to organising lunchtime.

Hope you all have a good weekend, catch you next week.

.... Yes, Covid numbers are coming down, Claire & I have both had our injections #1, and Nick "was" booked for today for his, and ....

Yes, Brenda has Covid!

She didn't have classic symptoms, just a bit of a cough, and spoke to her GP about getting a blood test as she is still stuggling with menopause problems.  Her GP hearrd her cough and said she needed testing, and it's come back positive!  Hopefully she will continue with the mild "non" symptoms.  I spoke to her and she sounded as Brenda, as normal.  Her real worry is Nick, as he has quite a few health problems (and is sadly a smoker)

Oh, well, at least everyone will be on alert for him, or my nephews.

On further "bad" news is that I have decided to delay my May holiday to France till next year (as I had to last year).  I am not nervous of travelling, but as I am going to a specific small museum, so want it to be open when I go, as that is the main reason I have booked this trip - to see the Deborah tank So, decided that I want to be sure I get to see this I need to delay things.  All the cemeteries etc will be open, if we can travel, but didn't know about this museum and didn't want to risk it.

As it's raining and I have had a rough week, health-wise I decided not to go for a walk, however still doing the PhotoFriday thingy. I got the inspiration from a question I did yesterday from earlier in the week. ie
        15. When I have a look around my home, it’s very obvious that I…
... love giraffes, and never throw any ornament away. Also, that I owned a Westie

So I have taken a few photos in my lounge to prove the point!

My nest of tables (a friend bought me the frame for Jiffy's picture)

My friend Toni bought me Portious the Christmas that Jaykub died.  He used to sit on my bed at Mum & Dad's, now sits in my lounge.

A friend drew this for me as a Christmas present ... and, yes, I burst into tears as I opened the gift.  That is my Little Man
DSC_0224

So, not many pictures, but at least I didn't ignore the challenge this week.

So, that's me up to date, and I do hope to catch up with you all later.  But before I disappear I shall do my question -

19. What are the three most dominant emotions in your life right now?

Tiredness
Worry (about N&B)
Frustration (at not being able to get out & about)

Hope everyone is keeping well & safe

A Positive Friday

I know, I missed yesterday ... I can blame Claire for that.

For the last 6 years she and I have met up, usually for a shopping day, but mainly to celebrate another anniversary of her being Cancer free.  7 years ago she had a total mastectomy, but it turned out that she didn't need any chemo/radio ... so I made a point of saying we will celebrate that day.  Sometimes we talk about the cancer, but sometimes not, I always bring up an open-ended thought and leave it for her to decide.  Yesterday, we didn't.  But it is still a day of celebration, whichever she decides.

Yesterday I had a lazy morning, doing some shopping and a bit more spring-cleaning before wrapping up and walking over to her ... spotting some colours etc for my PhotoFriday challenge, which are here -

While I was spying on coloured plants, I realised someone was watching me ... so I took his photo as well!
DSC_0802

One of the disadvantages of living where I do is that I see helicopters coming into land at the hospital, sadly too often ... here was the latest -
DSC_0805

However one of the advantages of living in Exeter is that it's an old city.  Devon's popular houses are called "long houses" and this is one, although like many they are divided into 2 - 3 properties.
DSC_0798

I also took this photo of a couple of items that were Mum & Dad's and that Tim has on display in their front garden
DSC_0807

Anyway, when I got there we had a walk and then cam back here for a chat (in the garden again due to lockdown).  I didn't feel too cold then (tea and a liqueur) helped there!  However by the time she left and I came in I realised I had got cold, and even though I wrapped up with more layers it was ages before I was fully thawed out ... so didn't go up to the computer.

However, I wouldn't have not done that afternoon, both the spending time with Claire, and the getting cold for a chance to celebrate her being cancer free.

I have just been to get some extra bits and pieces from the shops, but it is still cold, so plan to spend the rest of the day pottering in the house.  This morning I watched an episode of Sharpe on the TV while doing some more spring-cleaning.

After I have answered the 3 questions I owe you/me then I plan to do some artwork, but not much as it is colder up here, then downstaires to read the paper I bought and attempt the crossword puzzles.

Hope you all are managing to keep safe and well .... and warm!

So -

12. How would a stranger that met you at a dinner party describe you?

So shy ... that they wouldn't be able to say anything else about me!

13. How old do you feel?

Some day 95, other days 25 ... really depends on the day. A lot of the time I'm not really aware of my age at all.

14. How has getting older helped you deal with challenges in life?

I don't think it has. I have always seen something positive, or humorous, in circumstances that challenge.
