I managed to catch up with a friend from work for a short walk ... we pretty much avoided the rain, but were stunned to see almost waves on an inland lake!

Stover is not far from where Mum & Dad used to live, so it was a popular walk for Jiffy.  But it is also fairly flat, so easier walking when I am struggling with a cracked rib.

In the afternoon I got the bus into the city as I have had some problems with my vision ... the optician was great and quite positive, that although my prescription had changed in less than 3 months it was still OK

Today I am having a lazy day ... I need to collect a prescription, but as it's cold and wet I shall leave that for tomorrow.

Instead I shall try and make some icons, which I love, but at present the mouse has to be used in my left hand, so slower than normal.  Before I do that, I must catch up -

9. National Cherish an Antique Day - a day to find out about anything you've got that has been passed down through the family. Or maybe you've bought something that you will pass down? Do you have any antiques?
Actually loads!  The room I am sitting in has a couple of books that belonged to my grandparents when they were kids ... also a clock (one of 2 in the house) on the wall that belonged to my great-granparents and were made in the 1880's

10. World Homeopathy Day - a day to raise awareness of Homeopathy. Do you believe it has a place in modern medicine?
As an ex-osteopath I am a great believer in all forms of traditional healing such as homeopathy, naturopathy etc

Right, let's get on x

... and now I must gt on, as I am in work later.

I met up with Christine (from work) ... she is still on long-term sick leave.  We went to Stover, which I hadn't been to since Jiffy crossed rainbow Bridge.  It is not far from where M&D used to  live, and jiffy loved going there ... so happy memories.  And, the weather stayed lovely for us ... here are a few photos from the walk -

We walked up the memorial for the Canadian loggers who were here during the war -

5 – Global James Bond Day: Are you a Bond fan (either books or films or both)? Who is your favourite Bond actor? Do you have a favourite Bond theme song?
Pierce Brosnan ... although I quite like Timothy Dalton, as well
If you know me, you know I love jewellery, so the music has to be "Diamonds are Forever"!! Although actually I do like the actually James Bond theme itself.

Right, off to shops, before heading off to work - see you tomorrow x

Yes, here are the FridayPhotos ... a day later again.  Sorry

Yesterday I actually did do a short drive (yes, I know I was a naughty girl), to wish Christine a Happy Birthday and to have a walk with her.  We did keep our distance, and met there, so didn't feel too bad about breaking the rules.  I did wonder if I would be able to go though when I left the house as my brakes on my car had sealed "on".  So had problems with noise etc, so went to my garage who said that it just showed my drive had a slight slope (which it does) and I hadn't driven for some time ... yes, over 2 months.  So all they said was I had to drive to get the brake pads smooth again, but that they were perfectly safe!

So as we met early afternoon for our walk I thought I would wait to post the photos.  Then we ended up walking further as there was a new WWI memorial to see (see at end of photos) so ended up getting back a bit later than I planned, so didn't go upstaires to switch on my pc.

So here are my photos around Stover ... a bit poignant as Christine & I had been there a few times with Jiffy.

This is the new memorial to commemorate the Canadian Lumberjacks who were stationed here during WWI.  It was a longer walk than we had planned, but the statues and the memorial were well worth the walk -

The story on Devon Live can be seen here - The story of the Canadian ‘Sawdust Fusiliers’ who cut down Stover's trees during World War One

This morning I did another 2 1/2 mile walk on my way to buy some more milk.  I am trying to be positive and walk a bit more each day.  I am also using my inhaler on a regular basis to try to get this tiredness back under control.  Every day (except yesterday) I have ended up sleeping for about an hour in the afternoon.  So far, so good ... well except for the blister I rubbed on my heal, despite the fact the shoes are not old and they are comfortable.

Today I actually hung washing on the line, as it is very bright, so thought it would be nice to get the bedding outside.

Now, I am a couple of days behind, and have tomorrow to do as well, so here are the DailyMeme questions -

25. What’s the most recent show you’ve binge watched?
LOL - I have been re-watching Hercules, The Incredible Journeys

26. What conclusions did you make about money as a child?
You have to save to get what you want. As Mum & Dad would say "Money doesn't grow on trees!"

27. What would you like to have less of in your work right now?
PPE. I am lucky in that I only need to wear basic PPE, but it is still very hot to wear. I also find it frustrating that in the past few years the NHS has worked hard at cutting back on landfill, but with Covid there has been such an increase for obvious reasons.

28. What did you love to do as a child?
Jigsaw puzzles ... and I still do!

Well, that's me up to date, and it must be getting close to organising lunchtime.

Hope you all have a good weekend, catch you next week.

Oooops - these photos are from last year!

Just before Christmas Christine and I took Jiffy to one of his favourite places - Stover park.  Then after Christmas Christine came up to visit us and she and I walked along the quayside.  On both walks there was quite a bit of wildlife ... and the camera was busy.  Here are a sample ....

Friday Photos Again

Yesterday I had a really good day, well almost.

I had to go for a check-up at the dentist, which showed that the infection has gone and the mouth is slowly beginning to heal.

I also had to take Jiffy for his haircut ... he goes about every 6 or 7 weeks.  As you can see he is looking a bit "fluffy".  The last few days he has been a bit sluggish, so he really was more than ready for his appointment.

When I had eaten, and picked up Jiffy (he still goes to his same hairdresser), we then went and picked up Christine and headed back to Stover Woods.  A lovely local park that I have shown you before ... anyway here are todays pictures ....ExpandClickity click )

A Lovely Walk

I had to go to M&D's this morning to collect paperwork (etc), as Tim and I are now Dad's deputies.  We have set up the bank account etc, so Tim is going to sort out bills, cancel the phone, etc.  There is a probability that we have sold the place, even though it's not yet on the market.  We were going to do a final sort out over Easter, as much as needed, but our neighbours, who are only renting are very interested in buying it.  So, we need to focus and get on with the work.

Anyway, as I am off work again for another week I went this morning.  I also collected a load of Mum's sewing stuff, so I can sort out what is good, and throw the rest.

As it's lovely here today, I took Jiffy with me.  He doesn't like going to his old house now, but he did love the fact that I took him to a park that he loves.  We have been there a few times with my friend from Church.  Jiffy + walk + views = camera!  There is a leaflet here if you want to see what there is.

So - share our stroll with us .....Expandhere )

And, as I type this, Jify is asleep behind me, hence the icon!

My Holiday - Day 3

Having spent Tuesday afternoon walking round Living Coasts (see last holiday entry!) we had a less exotic walk on the Wednesday.

There were a couple of other reasons, as well.

Firstly Mum and Dad had a friend over for lunch. She was in Torbay on holiday and wanted to visit. It was a nice time - the lady in question is the second wife of Mum's sisters x-boyfriend!!!! When Auntie Marion started going out with Uncle Fred it was Mum who wrote the "Dear John" letter .... as Auntie Marion said he didn't need to know! (That was in 1943, and she kept in contact every since (until his death 5 years ago)

Anyway, Annemarie and I took Jiffy for a walk in Stover Woods ... do you remember, I went there with him and Christine last month ... so,Expandhere are a few images - )

Then in the evening Tim & Claire came over. Tim had last seen Annemarie in 1986 ... but both agreed that neither of them had changed.

Yes, I have, at long last got round to posting the pictures that I took when my brother Nick and his family came for the day.

In the afternoon we went for a walk in Stover Woods, near Newton Abbot ... and although the weather was cold, it was a lovely time.

Here are all the family just near the car-park ... I'm suprised this picture came out, as I also am holding Jiffy's lead ... and life is too busy to stand still for a photo!!

Under the cut are some photographs that I took on the walk - English countryside on a winters day - Cold, but spectacualr!
