They shall grow not old, like we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning
We will remember them.

So, today is ANZAC Day ... and yes I have just finished eating an ANZAC biscuit that I made yesterday.   I always take some in for work on this day ... but they are just so yummy anyway!  I didn't get up for a sunrise memorial as ANZACs do ... but still I ended up telling a couple of new members of staff why the day is special.  So that was good..

So, as I said I made the biscuits when I got in from Church yesterday, and text a picture to Tim & Claire who invited me over for a drink, and a biscuit.  So, in the afternoon I went over and had a really lovely afternonn ... eand ended up staying for tea.  Over all the weather brightened up nicely and we even ate outside.  So a truly lovely afternoon ...

I won't tell you how much gin we drank ... but it was a good afternoon!  Actually I think part of the reason it was fun was that it was impromptu ... just lovely.

Work today was OK - last week working with Maya, and still wondering how she will actually cope.  But that's not my problem ... I have tried hard to get her to understand, and learn .. but ... !!

Now I have shopping to doand then plan a lazy rest of the day.  But, before I go -

25. If you were given the ability to reform how your country’s leaders were chosen and how they serve, what would you change?
I don't think I would change it.
One thing I would prefer would be that local councils etc were run by independant people, and not those of party politics.

Well must head off ... hope to catch up with you later

I"m in the US, I have so many thoughts on how to change our government systems. One way I thought of that could never actually be implemented would be a senate (or house) or whatever that was made up of random people chosen similar to how a jury pool is chosen. But they'd have to serve a year or two at a time, and that would be horrible disruptive and expensive (I imagine). But to actually have actual representation in the government is such a novel idea. Here, it seems like the only people willing to serve are the people I don't want representing me. ("Any club that would have me as a member I wouldn't want to join" kind of feeling. lol) My husband says it all comes down to how the media changes people's views. I dunno what it is, I just know that I don't feel represented in any way by any level of leadership.

My husband was suggesting yesterday that all old-Etonians should be banned from public office as, almost by definition, they know nothing about real life.
