I ended up having a lazy day yesterday, although at least I managed to get my knitting pattern sorted out, and have got it all going again ... I do love knitting, but am not the fastest, and tend to only do a few rows a day. I spoke to Auntie Mary yesterday, and despite the fact that she is almost 96 she still knits a lot. She was just starting on a cardigan for a friend's partner. What she does is ask them to provide wool & pattern ... and she knits. If she has nothing specific on the go, then she knits baby clothes for charity. As ever,it was great to catch up with her, ... we always have a good laugh.

On Saturday we had the "family" get-together. Since Mum & Dad died, Tim & Claire have had a gathering at the beginning of December each year (except Covid year, of course). So her family & his family turn up, eat, drink and are merry. Nick & Brenda picked me up ... and our side was missing nephew #2 & partner. Claire's side was missing nephew/niece & toddler (as she is also 7 months pregnant) and missing sister #2.

But, as you can see ... I got to meet Jonah, at long last (he was ill, then I was busy, then I was unable to drive ... so nice to meet him at long last)

My Christmas is coming together - decorations are up, and cards are written ... although I have a few letters to write to add to the cards before posting. I had sent one to Australia at the end of last week, and heard from them this morning ... although, it's no longer a "them", so I also need to write another letter to Jean.

Oh well ... let's get on with that ... so ...

5. Do you own anything with fake (or real) fur trim?
No ... I did when I was younger.

6. Do you own a microwave oven? What do you use it for?
I have one, but don't use it very much at all.

7. Have you ever tried an alcoholic cocktail, or a non-alcoholic mocktail? Do you have a favourite?
I love many cocktails ... but not a mocktail fan (what's the point!!) If I am driving, I just stick to lemonade.

8. Today is Green Monday: the most lucrative shopping day of the year. This is usually the last day that people can shop online so that the purchases can still arrive in time for the holidays. What’s the last thing you bought from an online retailer?
A specialist light-bulb for a lamp that we kids bought Mum & Dad back in the late 70's

9. If you have a battery smoke alarm in your home, do you check the batteries regularly?

Mine is electrical with battery back-up.

Right, hopefully it will rain less over the next few hours so I can have my daily rehab walk.

Let's try & catch up with you all before I log off.

xx

Wow - I See The Sun

.... Anyone would think it was the summer.

I actually managed to get washing done and on the line ... Don't know how long it will be dry, but want to make the most of it, as I am sure the rain will be back pretty quickly.

Yes, I got my spare room done ... and even finished a jumper that I had been knitting for ages (one of those patterns that seemed simple but never seemed to go well).  Still, I was able to adjust things, and finish it.  It's "OK", although I shall never wear it if I need "posh", but at least it is done, it fits and it will be nice and cosy come the Autumn.

Today is another day of trying to get a few "small" tasks done ... they are annoying, as you keep busy, yet when you look back you can't remember what you do.  So, before I post this -

10. Global Energy Independence Day - a day to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy sources such as solar and wind. Have you tried (or are you planning) to reduce your fossil fuel energy consumption in some way?
I try to reduce consumption ... to save money on bills, if nothing else!

Right. let's get this done ... see you tomorrow x

As all of you probably know by now we had a terrorist related incident in London, and as ever random people walking through the city are injured or have lost their lives.  It seems small compared with other atrocities, but no doubt is meant to scare people away from the city.

No way - terrorists are not going to run my life ... or my country!

Anyway, enough of politics (etc) not something I usually even mention on LJ.

I keep saying I am back and then disappear!  Last time I picked up a tummy bug (I think the kid who sat in front of me at Church the previous day was ill), and sadly my Chronic Fatigue set back in ... so I somehow lost a week.  I managed to work for 2 days, but that was all.

So, I need to focus, and get back on track.  There is no way I can skim back through your news, and I must yet again apologise that I have been a bad friend (I should get that sentence in the pc memory and that way just fill that line in each time! ).

So what I need to do is do a catch-up post incase any of you remember who I am, and want to know where I am and what I am doing! It's all about me - )

I do hope that you are all well ... any news, please let me know.
*group hugs*

100 Meme - Film # 28

Mr Lucky is another Cary Grant film that is more unusual, but one I love. He plays a gambler who plans to swindle money from a charity program, but starts to have second thoughts when he falls for a rich society girl.

Watching him learn to knit is a scene that has to be seen -

I Feel Cross-Eyed

Today mum handed me one of her jumpers - she had decided to unpick the neck and re-knit it (the shape felt wrong) ... However with her poor eye-sight it meant that she had got it in a total muddle.

So. you can guess my job - further un-picking and picking up, and some knitting.

She is now trying to decided what she wants the neck to look like ... so it looks as if next weekend will be fully booked as well.

And, tonight will be my least favourite task .... pressing and sewing up.  I enjoy the knitting, wven though I'm slow ... but hate joining the jumper together - even though I'm looking forward to wearing it (at long last!)

Just Saying Hi!

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 02:48 pm
debris4spike: (James - Union Chapel 09)

I am not working today - no patients (see this is what I mean about needing a new direction in life), and didn't ride this morning, as having spent most of yesterday in bed I was a bit week at the knees this morning.  Still, when I phoned Toni she said that DJ was tired, as they had been using a tractor to dig ditches and do some hedging, both in his field, and the next one over ... so he had a busy day yesterday!

Anyway, I don't want to let my day drift, I sorted some stuff out, and while doing so came across a jumper that I had knitted the back of, ribbed the front, and stopped!  So, I have started it off again.  Being plain stocking stitch it is easier to knit than my jumper with a pattern, as my hand injury has really been playing up recently.  So, I have taken a pic and will post in a minute!

I am also wanting to get back to my 3 fan-fics that I have been working on at various times - but procrastinaton is winning that argument at present!

And, to cap it all - t's raining, so I don't even feel like going for a walk!

Oh well - there is so much in life that is great - counting my blessings is something I am really enjoying doing again, so I'm not going to let today get to me ... if you don't have the downs, how on earth can you appreciate the ups?
