I was late into the Stargate Atlantis fandom ... but love the series ... although I did hope that John & Elizabeth would end up together ... which is why I actually wrote a fic to sort that over-sight out!

Challenge #11

Most of the fandoms that I re-watch over and over again have a similar theme ... unrequited, unrealised love.

In my top 4 shows with this theme, there are other pairings that do get together, and some even stay together.

But I am obviously a sucker for a love that doesn't work out, or maybe it's that the people I choose as my OTP are just not meant to be together. All I can say is thank goodness for Fan Fiction. I then realise that I am not the only person on the planet who wants those pairings to work.

My first fandom that got me involved with LJ (& DW) was Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And, look at my username. Yes, I wanted Buffy & Spike to get together. But we all know how the final episode finished ... and that's how I ended up in fandom, by writing a fix-it fic!

Some years later I watched Stargate SG1 ... and I so wanted Jack to end up with Sam. By the end of season 8, it suggested that they were together ... but there were 2 more seasons of the show to go!

I then got persuaded to watch Star Trek, Voyager and it was a similar story. Military rules not allowing for Kathryn to end up with Chakotay. However the writers decided that Chakotay needed someone, and he was taken down a completely different path in the last few episodes.

My friend nagged me until I watched Stargate Atlantis ... and I immediately wanted John & Elizabeth to get together. This time, although John was military, Elizabeth wasn't. However the writers decided other things for her ... and they were separated before there was any relationship openings.

So, yes, I love the shows ... but love the fan-fiction writers more. AO3 and I are good friends ... and the filters are set ... and there's plenty to cheer my fandom heart.

I didn't get any cleaning done ... ending up spending time on-line trying to find a solution for a friend of mine who couldn't get to the internet. So, in the end, all I ended up with was a headache.

So, I decided an earlier night would be good, so as soon as I had watched "Sewing Bee" I headed up to bed. Read for a bit, then as I was about to sleep I made the mistake of checking on Instagram ... only to find a live interview had started, and, yes, I made the mistake of listening ... and hour later I was able to switch off the light and get some sleep. The actor being interviewed was John Flanigan ... and as I had just finished this set of icons for a competition over on DW, I really had to listen, didn't I?

Wow yesterday was "slightly damp, wasn't it? I think there are a few countries around the world that could do with that rain. However, for me, I was working for 11 hours, so indoors ... but Tim & Claire were on holiday (they come home today), so they would not have been happy, as they love long walks.

I am working later, but am catching up here first, although I also have to do some shopping.

Back in the winter, when I was doing the Snowflake Challenge, I did say that I was going to write another fic .... and that Stargate Atlantis didn't finish quite as I wanted, so I wrote a finale "Longlasting Peace". I just hope I didn't tangle my words too much and it makes sense ... but at least I am happy I managed to complete it. I am still trying to get my ongoing BtVS fic written. Maybe now this one is done, I can focus a bit more.

So, shopping, and sorting ... then off to work again. But as ever, and before I go -

15 – Give Something Away Day: What is one thing of yours that you would consider giving away to someone in need?
Depends what they need ... but blankets etc are always useful

16 – Personal Chef Day: If you could afford it, would you like to have a personal chef? Would you have them cook all your meals, or only supper/dinner?
I enjoy cooking. And for "everyday" I enjoy simple meals, so it would be a waste of time ... but maybe once a month for a weekend?

For any of you who know me, not much has changed over the last few years ... although I at long last watched Stargate Atlantis ... and loved it. I am a great fan of John/Elizabeth (and am in fact slowly wring a fic).

But other than that my fandoms are Spuffy from BtVS (the series & no comics), Katheryn Janeway/Chakotay from Star Trek Voyager (haven't seen Prodigy yet)

Still love a lot of TV series ... but just look at my Profile, as not much changes. ... One boring girl!

I haven't don't any more from day one, until today ... I will do some of the missing challenges at some point, but will do this one now (one less for the future!)

I keep saying I am going to get back to writing, well last year I did add a bit to my Spuffy WIP.

As I mentioned in Snowflake #1, I found a new fandom in Stargate Atlantis, and shipping John/Elizabeth. Well, as I did when I fell into fandom I am writing a fic to change/add onto the ending. It is still a WIP, however I hope to get it finished ASAP ... and it will then be up on my AO3 account - Debris4spike

So although I can't share that with you, I am proud of the fact I am getting back into fandom writing.

And, as I said a bit earlier I fifnoshed off this set of icons for challenge 163 of your_favourites … with favourite hairstyle being the prompt. Although I personally have short hair, I do like long hair ... as you can see in these 4 Buffy icons, there are an asssortment of things you can do ..

So, finishing those off, as well as the night before catching up with me meant I never did catch up with you all in the end yesterday ... I will try to do better later!!

Clinic was another good morning, although we ended up with 2 no-shows. Maya still isn't learning and have tried to keep my patience with her, but it does get frustrating. I am in for the next couple of mornings as well, but she is in another clinic, so it will be less stressful even if the patients themselves cause problems!

I don't think I told you that Tim tested positive over the weekend, and apparently yesterday ended up seeing a paramedic. He is still at home and is having treatment that means that this morning he is feeling a little bit better. I liked getting that positive text, but I then received a text from Brenda that her routine screening tested positive this morning ... so the family is falling apart. Hopefully neither will be ill long, and won't pass on the bugs to other members of their families ... we were planning to all be together on Easter Day, so we shall now wait and see about that.

Now I have shopping to do so will head out, but before that -

Bizarrely I often find myself humming "Daisy, Daisy" ... what most people don't realise is that it is a chorus of a song, and no, I don't know those words.

However I "think" I got round the problem by downloading some of the icons that were used in the Inspiration Post ... so hopefully the icons fit the challenge ... but if not, please feel free to tell me (I won't be upset ... colour blindness is a pain in these cases)

Anyway, the set is made from season 1 of Stargate Atlantis, and it's the first time that I have made icons for them, as I have only recently watched the series for the first time (and in actual fact I am inspired to write a fic, as well)
