Now It's Weekend Again

Well, that was an odd morning. I was working, and luckily there were 2 of us on the shift. No, things were quiet, but I couldn’t log onto my computer. A couple of days ago the company had a data breach and sent us all new passwords. Sandy logged on fine … but, mine, no. I spoke to the IT team 4 times, and they have come up with a great answer … leave it till Monday and see if it works then! Brilliant!! I get the idea that the man I was speaking to you isn’t due to be working on Monday and therefore he won’t have to deal with the problem.
So it was lucky that it wasn't a busy day, and that I had someone else working with me.

So, we shall see what Monday brings.

We had a short sharp rain shower just as I was walking home. Typical that it will rain over a weekend. Still I have more tidying to do ...I think I have caused more chaos in my spare room than I solved. Part of me thinks I should be doing that ... part of me is thinking that sitting reading a bit more of my book would be more fun!

Well, whatever I decide I am going to sign off in a moment... but ...

18. Do you live near any museums? Have you visited?
Exeter has The Royal Albert Museum … and I usually go round at least a couple of times a year.

19. World Baking Day - Do you watch The Great British Bake Off? Do you prefer to buy your baked goods or do you bake some yourself?</iV I do like baking … and yes, I watch Bake-Off … but could never do the decorating that they do OK – see you Monday

Well hopefully I wasn't really!

As I told you I was working Saturday afternoon/evening on Main Reception.  Part of the job is finding what wards patients are on, or just confirming they haven't been moved.  In an 850 bed building that can mean a lot of extra walking for the visitors!  Brilliant ... well it was until the last 90minutes or so.  We had a new "complete" system that links everything together ... and although I love computers (Hee, what am I typing on?), I was always sceptical that there would be problems.  Well, that last 90 minutes was a nightmare as I couldn't help people as to where their relatives were.

However, what bothers me is how do treatments etc work when you can't actually get hold of notes, as everything is on the computer now.

So, call me old-fashioned but I really do not like it!

~~~
Rant over!
I have a great day yesterday - and there will be photos to share at some point.  Christine came up and we did some sight-seeing in and around Exeter.  It was lovely weather, and we walked about 5 miles overall ... so good fun, and good for the calories (although we did finish the day off with cake!
This morning clinic went well, and shopping done ... now I am here posting this.  I hope to get some photos done and posted today but can't guarantee it.
But before I get on with that -
20. Do you hold grudges? Are you holding one now?
As I am fairly quick tempers I tend not to hold a grudge.
21. June 21 is "International Yoga Day". Do you do, or have you ever done, yoga?
No .... But more important than yoga, today is
INTERNATIONAL GIRAFFE DAY
Right, photos are calling ... see you later x
I do hope that you are feeling loved – especially if you are in a relationship. And, if not, well, you never know that Knight on his/her white charger might be just round the next corner. I was always brought up with that story, but he still hasn’t arrived. I did end up having 2 boy horses who were very special, and much loved, so that was a good side-effect of fairy tales. When Jaykub died everyone who knew him made a point of saying how much he had loved me … so, Happy Valentines Jaykub, 19 years on and I still miss you.
Well that ended up a bit of a ramble, didn’t it?
Still, the good news is that suddenly my computer up-loaded the photos on Saturday, so I will post them soon. Really weird as I tried, tried & tried again … gave up, and tried again … gave up …. And suddenly it worked. That’s why I didn’t get back to you. With everything going on I “gave up” …. Computers, don’t we love them!
Actually I am typing this at work as I cover lunchtime on the department … great to be paid to blog!   Clinis went well this morning, so all in all (for a Monday) it was a good day.  Oh well I shall email this to myself, and finish it off by catching up with the questions ...
12. Who would you most like and least like to be stuck in an elevator with?
Well, the obvious answer for favourite is .... James
Least favourite ... someone with bad BO
13. What was the last song you listened to of your choosing? What was the last song you heard that was imposed on you (e.g. background music at a store, in someone else's car, etc.)?
I had an Elvis Presley CD on yesterday
Don't know what "noise" they had on in the office, as it's not my type of music at all!!
14. Do you play mobile games on your phone? If yes, what is the most addictive game you've played?
The only thing I do is Scrabble - blame my brother for that!
Right off to sort out photos
No Thanks
11 Do you like having your picture taken? Why or why not?
Another easy one - no I don't!
Easy answer as well, it's for the same reason I don't look in mirrors, I don't think there anything special about me (and yes I dare say people will want to comment at that ... but please don't). I was bullied from 10 - 18, and sadly it has left me not liking what I look like. Terrible to say, and it used to break Mum's heart, I know, but "friends" can cause long-term pain.
Anyway, that's my problem, not yours! (And, yes, you guessed it, I am putting a no comment link on this)
On another note, I don't work Fridays ... even in the past when I was fully fit & well. However this evening (yes I have to be in by 6pm) I have a 2 hour training course as we are having a new computer system ... it's been a 2 year project for the hospital, but now down to the last month, so all training has to be done by then for all the 9,000 members of staff
It Won't Work At Work
6 What is your favourite keyboard shortcut?
I do like the Ctrl C & Ctrl V ...  Copy & Paste
The only trouble is, the main computer programme that is being used at present at the hospital doesn't let it work ... so frustrating!
Day 21 → your favourite websites this year
Well, it still is LJ! Even if I have been a bit MIA this year, I still love it, and miss it when I can't get too involved.
My other website I like is Instagram, although I tend to use a different one called 6tag. But I do like sharing a few photos ... but also looking at other photos, especially ones about travel, or giraffes .... or Westies and other dogs.
The other sites are MSN & BBC news, Wikipedia, ... and eBay, of course.
debris4spike: (Boo)
I'm back .... Yay!
It took the whole week to get my router and computer sorted out and reconnected!  Thankfully each of the phone calls were to English speaking people, so even though frustrating at least I could understand what they were saying.
I have missed so much, I know .... so if I missed something vital please let me know.
I will catch up with comments etc tomorrow ... for today I want to get a set of icons finished, as I couldn't download the screen-caps last week.
Anyway, I am going to try the 100 Happy Days Meme ... although I don't get internet access at Mum & Dad's at the weekend, so it may get a bit disjointed.
Anyway ... Day 1 ... I am "home"
debris4spike: (Grr.aargh)
My router appears to have died.    And my phone is useless!
So I will catch up with you when I can.
Miss you all
*hugs*
debris4spike: (Huh?)
We all sometimes have trouble with our computers.
I had a problem yesterday, so I called Eric, the 11 year old next door, whose bedroom looks like Mission Control, and asked him to come over.
Eric clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem.
As he was walking away, I called after him, 'So, what was wrong?'
He replied, 'It was an ID ten T error.'
I didn't want to appear stupid, but nonetheless inquired, 'An, ID ten T error? What's that? In case I need to fix it again.'
Eric grinned...'Haven't you ever heard of an ID ten T error before?
'No,' I replied.
'Write it down,' he said, 'and I think you'll figure it out.'
So I wrote down: ID10T
I used to like Eric!
Well, first it was dad's computer dying ... then my friend [livejournal.com profile] jaded_jamie ... now my one has switched itself off a few times ... I need to make sure everything is backed up - just in case.  Mind you my Kindle also cleared the memory and the re-filled itself ... so maybe Jamie's was nothing to do with me, and the others are reacting to my "sparkling" personality!!
Last Friday I went to Physio, and was annoyed with her explanation of the injury ... it isn't often (now) that my past training comes up ... but that was surely it!  She said the injury was because I had high arches - and was nothing to do with the patient falling "onto" me ... in other words, that's what goes on the notes if I sue (which I am not going to anyway!)   Still I now have a crutch to help with walking, and will admit that makes life easier. (I worked for the first time yesterday - just bed making) ... and the bruising is, at long last, beginning to seep out.
Saturday saw me back at Torquay hospital - this time with mum. Her breathing got really bad and I took her in. They say she has started to build up the fluid on her lungs again. I played it down to her, but it is worrying. We didn'tget back till 1am .... she was very upset to muck up the evening - but I just teased and said I had never had a chance to take her out on a Sat eve, so it was good!!!
I am working again, making beds, later - and will admit I have dug out the "nasty" pain killers to get through.  Then 2 days off before I go back to physio (boooooo, hisssssss)
Well I had better go and rest my leg if I want to stand on it later.
Hope you are all well.
PS -
Any James fans .... over on [livejournal.com profile] marsters_daily they are doing a countdown to his birthday and showing a lot of great, previously shown, pics .... but still fun!  He is in recording studios, doing another book narration this week ... Carnival of Souls
Some of you noted in my meme thingy that I was sad not to see James this year - yet he will be over at a Con. Sadly, even for James, I know I would never cope. Just the thought of it, as I type screws up my breathing. If he were to do a concert that I could get to, yes I'll be there ... otherwise, sad to say, no James. Thought I should explain that a bit more.
debris4spike: (James - buzz cut & name.)
Just wanted to share something I was listening to at Church yesterday.
We have been having a series of DVDs by Wayne Grudem (of Chicago) and yesterday he was talking about Creation.  He pointed out one or two things we may have forgotten.
Thank God for  creating colour.
We could live in a B&W world ... some of the shades and tints have no purpose other than to give us somethig to look at.
Thank God for creating music
In a similar fashion - everything could be a basic mono-tone.
Thank God for creating computers.
Yes, without God's creation of sand, we wouldn't have silicon ... and without that we wouldn't have computer chips.
He then went on to wonder what else is out there, yet to be dscovered.
