Wow, it was cold at work today - the photos are of the entrance of the hospital ... as well as the view from where I was working .... so, as you can see, a cold location (even with a radiator next to me!)

13th January (1)

13th January (2)

13th January (3)

No news really - I am off (as always tomorrow) ... and Monday I am working then have an opticians appointment, which means I won't be here, so -

13. Make Your Dreams Come True Day - if money, time and location were no option - what would be your dream?
Travel the world - visit everywhere that is on my never-ending bucket list.
Buy my nephews houses ... treat my brothers and a couple of close friends to a "what they want" gift

14. National Dress up your Pet Day - do you have any pets? If you used to, did you ever dress them up?
Jiffy always wore "pyjamas" to bed (a jumpre), and if raining he had a waterproof coat
Previous dog-pets never wore anything at all.
Jaykub wore an anti-fly coat & face-mask for 8 months of the year, but didn't wear a rug in the winter. DJ, even as a foal, wouldn't wear a rug at all.
Superman

15. National Hat Day - do you like to wear hats? What does your favourite hat look like?
I always wear a hat to Church, and always wore a hat while riding ... but really I am not a hat person. I do have a CWGC hat that I have worn a couple of days this week to keep my ears thawed out ... but really not me. Having curly-ish hair means I have hat hair ++++++

Right, see you Tuesday

This set of icons is made for Round 24 of [livejournal.com profile] gen10in30 with a theme of games -

6 7 8 9 10
6 7 8 9 10

As ever, all are snaggable, but credit would be appreciated. All of the photographs, except the one of me, were taken by myself and all other credits are available over at my icon journal - [livejournal.com profile] d4s_icons

I do hope that you are feeling loved – especially if you are in a relationship. And, if not, well, you never know that Knight on his/her white charger might be just round the next corner. I was always brought up with that story, but he still hasn’t arrived. I did end up having 2 boy horses who were very special, and much loved, so that was a good side-effect of fairy tales. When Jaykub died everyone who knew him made a point of saying how much he had loved me … so, Happy Valentines Jaykub, 19 years on and I still miss you.

Well that ended up a bit of a ramble, didn’t it?

Still, the good news is that suddenly my computer up-loaded the photos on Saturday, so I will post them soon. Really weird as I tried, tried & tried again … gave up, and tried again … gave up …. And suddenly it worked. That’s why I didn’t get back to you. With everything going on I “gave up” …. Computers, don’t we love them!

Actually I am typing this at work as I cover lunchtime on the department … great to be paid to blog!   Clinis went well this morning, so all in all (for a Monday) it was a good day.  Oh well I shall email this to myself, and finish it off by catching up with the questions ...

12. Who would you most like and least like to be stuck in an elevator with?
Well, the obvious answer for favourite is .... James
Least favourite ... someone with bad BO

13. What was the last song you listened to of your choosing? What was the last song you heard that was imposed on you (e.g. background music at a store, in someone else's car, etc.)?
I had an Elvis Presley CD on yesterday
Don't know what "noise" they had on in the office, as it's not my type of music at all!!

14. Do you play mobile games on your phone? If yes, what is the most addictive game you've played?
The only thing I do is Scrabble - blame my brother for that!

Right off to sort out photos

Well I am back from my trip to see Auntie Joyce, and although I am now tired (despite having had a lazy day yesterday), I am not as tired as I expected to be so that is a positive point.

Auntie Joyce was "as normal" ... looking really well for the age of 94 -
IMG_20210612_083114

However the journey up was very, very long.  Add breakdowns, to roadworks, to more breakdowns and it seemed to take forever.  Coming home on the Saturday I only got stopped once as there had beeen an accident ...
IMG_20210612_113628
However I also got diverted by about 20 miles as one of the motorways was closed for roadworks.  So an easier trip.

So although I am tired, I am pleased I did the trip, and as I said am positive about the fact I am not totally shattered, although I shall be fairly lazy today.

On another posive note, my 2 special roses are in flower again.  The red one was Mum's favourite bush as a child (I think I have posted photos of it in the past).  The yellow one was given to me by a mother & daughter who I rode with when Jaykub died.  They pointed out that I had called him my golden boy a few times ... can't believe it's been 18years since I said goodbye to my man ... Jaykub you were very special ... a real golden boy.

This flower is just one in a bed near the entrance I use of the hospital.

Well, I am going to rest, and sorry I won't be catching up with everyone, but will try to do that later.  I have got to do some shopping, then be a good girl and rest.

Hope you are all well ... but, before I go -

14. Do you remember what you wore on your very first day of school?
No - I was 5
However I went to 6 schools overall and for the first day of the other 5 it would have been strict school uniforms ... all but my first were very strict.
debris4spike: (Jaykub)
[livejournal.com profile] curiouswombat has reminded me, via her latest post about her hristmas Shopping, that although I spnsor a guide dog in Mum's name I have never got round to sponsoring a horse.

I loved my 15 years of riding and do miss their company.  Horses are beautiful creatures, and how they get abused is more than beyond me.

Many of you have known me for some time and have read about my riding with DJ, my Connemara namesake; however, although he was very special, he wasn't my first love.  His name was Jaykub, and when he died in 2003, at the age of 10, he broke my heart. I had fallen in love with him at first sight, and had the honour of actually owning him for just over 18 months ... and also knowing he loved me.

Anyway, as I was looking at web-sites, I saw this poem ... well known, but as ever, meaning a lot.

The Rainbow Bridge For Horses
Author Unknown

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
when their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,
is a place where beloved creatures find rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
til The Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
for here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed.
Their bodies have healed with strength imbued.

They trot through the grass without even a care,
til one day they whinny and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes sharp and alert.
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the herd.

For just at that second, there's no room for remorse.
As they see each other...one person...one horse.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past
The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart
has turned to joy once more in each heart.
They nuzzle with a love that will last forever.
And then, side-by-side, they cross over...together.

Still miss you Jaykub (& DJ)

One thing that I have managed to do over the last couple of weeks is make 20 icons for the first round of [livejournal.com profile] monthlyinspo ... the theme is "Blazing Blue". There were no other prompts, which I tend to find slightly harder.

Anyway, here are the three teasers :-

365 Meme Day 43

Write a letter to someone who broke your heart.

Dear Jaykub,

I am so sorry that we had to part after such a short time together.  For me it was love at first sight, and I know in our time together you did look after me, and kept me safe.

You also taught me to know what it feels like to be loved.

Although you were only young when you left me, I do still think of you and the great times we had.  I wish we had been together longer, but those times were very special.  Thank you.

Love you Jaykub, miss you ...  Will see you in eternity.

Thank you.
Love Deborah xx

365 Meme Day 37

Write about your first love.

Perry our blue roan Cocker Spaniel died in my arms a month before his 5th birthday. I vowed I would never speak to an animal again!

However as the icon shows, My Jaykub, was truly special. It was love at first sight, and I do know that he loved me, as he really took care of me. Sadly, my friend Toni had to phone me with the news that as a 10 year old he had to be put to sleep. I still miss my boy.

Humanly speaking - I'll have to fill this in at some future point, when I have a name to add!

Happy & Sad thoughts today.

Excited .... scared .... muddy .... hot .... But most of all LOVED.

Today is the 11th anniversary of my beloved boy's death.  He was too young, but I can still say to this day he is missed, but in the time we were together I never doubted that he loved and looked after me (as well as teased me) at all times.

One very special boy - RIP Jaykub.

I don't have many pictures of Jaykub, and those I have are not photographically great.  However I love playing with icon art, but large pieces scare me ... so look what the amazing [livejournal.com profile] comlodge has done ...

In memory of the phone call that I received 10 years ago this morning - the call I had never ever imagined.

I had known Jaykub for 4 years, and it was love at first sight. He had been mine for 18months ... and the love had deepened.

Then he broke a front leg, in a minor injury, so he had been put to sleep.

Jaykub was just 10 years old.

I still love him, he taught me so much - both about horses and riding, but especially about unconditional love.

I was lucky to have had him in my life.

Jaykub - I stll miss you.

A friend mentioned Ronan Keating in a post tonight, and it reminded me of the one song of his that does mean something - he re-recorded the song in 2002, so was popular at the time I lost Jaykub the following year - for me it really reminded me of our relationship ... as tomorrow never did come. However we did love each other - and I did tell him often. Just good to remind myself that it is something I need to do. Those I love need to know it ... I hope my special friends out there know how much you truly mean to me.

*hugs*

That 5 thingy meme is going around again. Having read a couple of entries, one of which was from a friend who I had never got to ask me 5 subjects to ramble about. So, I decided to volunteer ... here is what [livejournal.com profile] deborahw37  gave me

What does home mean to you
Your favourite memory
Clarinet
David Tennant
The Internet.

So they are a great, and new selection.

Here is the ramble - )

Hope you weren't too bored! If you want to ramble, just comment and I will give you 5 topics.

Look what I saw when I got in from Bible Study this evening -

Photobucket

My memorial rose for Jaykub .... I am happy about that. I know that it doesn't bring him back, but it was given me the day after he died and it stayed in Bude with me, travelled to Mum & Dad's over the winter and now is with me in Exeter.

He died 8 years ago this July ... so the plant is doing well.

At Bible Study we talked about the word "why" .... and were reminded that God doesn't promise us answers to hard questions, but He does promise us His un-dying love.

Jaykub was only 10 when he died and words can't ever really describe how much much he meant to me ... maybe this year I should try to write about our amazing friendship.

However in the loss of Jaykub I then had the honour of training my namesake DJ, which is something that I would never have been involved in ... which also meant that he was able to go and live the spoilt life that he now has.

So, I still miss Jaykub, but in his loss DJ and I both gained.

It's Saturday and I am meant to be gardening, but it is raining off and on so am trying to catch up with LJ and even popped onto FB ... this before lunch in the hope it clears after lunch.

So, how are you all?  Having a fun weekend - I do hope so.

I said I popped over onto facebook - well I snagged this from o[livejournal.com profile] oldgreymare.. even if you have never owned a horse, think of your 4 legged friends ... And for those who are pet-free, spend a moment to think of my Jaykub.  Sadly I wasn't with him when he died, although that does mean my memories of him are all happy ones.  My best friend and her daughter were with him (as well as his 2 best pny friends) ... I still miss him, 9 years on.

RIP Jaykub
