... And we are basically half way through the year now ... and even weirder, a quarter of the way through the century.  How can that be?  Where have the days go?

I had planned to catch up with you all but for some unknown reason my internet is on a super go-slow ... so whether I get caught up is very debatable.

Although we are meant to be in a heat-wave today, it's warm & muggy ... but actually overcast and damp in the air.  Hopefully it will clear later, as I hung my washing out anyway.  For me, I don't mind, as I am inside computining this morning, and inside working this afternoon!

Hope you all had a good weekend.

Before I try and see if the internet will let me post this, let me do the question ....

โ€œA cold in the head in June is an immoral thingโ€ (L M Montgomery, Canadian author, born 1874). Have you had a cold in the head so far this year?

I tend to get chest infections more, but yes I have had a head cold this year.
(I love LM Montgomery's Anne series of books ... just saying!)

Right, I must get on ... hopefully to catch up with you all, but also to try and get some photos sorted, to post tomorrow.

See you soon x

Sorry, I did aim to post a couple of times last week ... However on the first of my 2 days I couldn't get on the internet ... some local problem with the internet.  Then on my next possible chance I had developed an ear infection and was feeling "very sorry for myself" ... especially as I still had the house to clean before Brenda arrived.

So ear is getting better.

Brenda has been and gone ... as have Tim & Claire.

Now I have some of this morning off, as I am working later.  But in my planned morning to sort photos Toni has phoned to say that she has hurt her back and can I possibly look at it for her.  (For those who don't know, that is how we met, about 25 years ago).

So, as ever, plans are thrown out.  Anyway, I will have loads of photos to share at some point as, despite the weather, Brenda and I went to 2 National Trust properties (and I still have photos from my museum visit to share), but until then ...

20 – International Chess Day: Do you play, or have you ever played, chess?
Yes, I can play, but not one of those people who can plan moves ahead ... just "reply" to my opponants moves.

21 – Junk Food Day: What is your favourite junk food? Is this something you eat regularly, or is it something you turn to when you're stressed, or that you reserve as a special treat or reward for yourself?
Roast Chicken crisps.
A Big Mac
I will eat the crisps usually once a week ... a McD's is if I am travelling and busy.

22 – Day Of the Cowboy: Do you like Westerns (either books, movies, or TV shows)? What about country and western music?
Traditional country music is fine ... as are the great westerns ... John Waine in Stagecoach is a winner.

23 – Peanut Butter and Chocolate Day: Match made in heaven or something to be avoided at all costs?
Never tried it ... but I do like a Snickers/Marathon bar

24 – Everybody Deserves a Massage Week: The third week of July is Everybody Deserves a Massage Week. Do you go for regular (or occasional) massages? Have you tried different types of massage: Swedish, Shiatsu, deep tissue, etc.? Do you have a favourite?
Never had a massage just to relax, but have regular Sports Massages for injuries.

25 – Hot Fudge Sundae Day OR Wine and Cheese Day: Which would you go for?
Something else I have never had.
I do like some cheeses, although have to be aware of my partial dairy injury ... but, white wine, yes please.

26 – All or Nothing Day: If it was your last day on Earth, what would you do?
I think I would want to contact family and friends.  But really, I don't know, as there would be too many variables.

Right, won't catch up with you as I want to get some photos sorted before Toni comes ... so will see you tomorrow xx

When I last posted (on the 27th August), I genuinely expected to be back later that day to catch up with you all ... but, NO ... my internet had other plans for me.

So, as of 1 hour ago I am finally back on line ... 5 engineering visits, including digging the road up (and diverting traffic) and the fault has been found.

I had hoped to post a note on my LJ when I was at work, but LJ (& DW) were both blocked by the NHS, so couldn't let you know.  As I don't have a posh phone I couldn't even get on line that way ... so sorry ... and I have missed you, and LJ.

So much has happened in that time ...

England has a new monarch, and I am not afraid to admit that I cried when I heard the news about The Queen.  And on the Friday before the funeral (a week after she died) I went up to London and joined a 13 hour queue to pay my last respects to her.  I then went on to Green Park to see the flowers.  A very long trip, but so special, and I wouldn't have missed it for anything.  Last night I had dinner with Tim & Claire, who had gone the following day and it was great to compare notes.  She will be missed.  God Save The King.

The day of the funeral (just at the end) I got a taxi to the city, travelled to London and have just spent an amazing week in Turkey ... travelling hundreds of miles, and taking hundreds of phots ... yes, I will share.

Today is the 7th anniversary of Mum passing away (Dad's was at the beginning of the month, 6 years for him), and I can't believe it.  If the weather stays OK, I may walk up to the cemetery, although it would probably be better if I didn't.  When I flew to Turkey my bad ankle swelled to double it's size, and has yet to go down!

I won't catch up with the missing month of meme, as I want to get the photos posted ... but will start with yesterday as that was the day I got back home after my trip, so ...

28. What’s the closest thing to a castle you’ve been in?
I am English, and a sightseer ... I have been in loads of castles. Last one was Totnes, back in the summer

29. What were the circumstances the last time you were hoarse?
I do occasionally get a sore throat and if bad enough it will make me hoarse, but not for many years now.

Right, well I am going to post this brief summary of my missing month, and will promise, internet permitting, I will catch up with you all later ... and get some photos up, as well

Hope that you are all well x

Challenge #13

In your own space, tell us about 3 fandom resources you use or enjoy. (One or two is fine, especially if you're in a smaller fandom!) Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Most people probably know where to get screen caps for their icon making .... but these are my favourite 3 fandoms, and their links -

Buffy the Vampire Slayer ........ it's kissthemgoodbye.net

Stargate SG-1 ........ it's gateworld.net/sg1 And that site does all the Stargate universe.

Star Trek Voyager Screencaps ........ it's /voy.trekcore.com/gallery And that site does all the Star Trek universes

If I need an addition, eg a hat, my first port of call is www.clker.com

Can you remember I broke a front tooth at Easter .... well I had the root filling done, and it then started hurting .... antibiotics, leaving it, etc ... and today was decision day.

I was still getting the intermittent pain .... so I had to have the root removed.ย

So the answer for me was out ๐Ÿ˜Š

On another point, I love my Chromebook, however my router has died .... so I am fated to not catch up easily.

Hope everyone else is having a better week than me ๐Ÿ˜‰

Although I still am having problems with my internet my provider has diagnosed a line problem, and is going to repair it ... so am happy that next week you should be bored by my pictures again!
debris4spike: (Confused - HPI)
I am still battling the internet and trying to upload my photos ... I have now contacted my provider and they are meant to be looking into it.  So, so frustrating that even one at a time they wont upload.  As I am having problems I may just scribble some things about my London trip (if you want) and post the photos when I eventually get done.

While arguing with the internet I have also been working on some icons, and did a bit of a silly thing ... I made an icon for [livejournal.com profile] btvsats20in20 (we were given a screen-cap to work with) and I quite liked it, but decided to do a different approach.  Now I have 2 totally different, and I like them both .... GGGGGggggrrrrrrrrrr .... what a twit, I should have stuck with my first thought!!

Health-wise things are slowly tightening up in my muscles ... one month till the specialist's appt, so hopefully I get some answers then.

Hope all is well with you

This is possibly the best link I've had for a long time.

Try it with your full address....when I entered the full address the aircraft went past our house........virtually anyway!! True!

It is a brilliant advert anyway, but add a British address and watch and see - sorry, but I don't know if the link will work outside Britain.  ETA - It doesn't work outside GB ... so those "away" can type in my old Bude postcode - EX23 8DH

Also a very clever bit of viral advertising by B.A. Wouldn't surprise me if the original ad didn't win some sort of award in the future. BA launched a new Olympics themed advert which is quite clever BUT the REALLY clever bit is you can put in any UK postcode or address (or try both) and "thanks to CGI and Google Maps", the advert will include the B777 taxiing up your road!

debris4spike: (Yay!)
.... Yes, I am sitting in my study typing!

Today has been long ... and I lost my lunchbreak in the muddle.  That meant, although hungry, I got to go home the 1/2 hour earlier.  As I was walking along I got a text to say my internet was ready to connect - so gave it a go ....

And, here I am!

Ironically I am going to Mum & Dad's later, anyway, as Dad has his carpel-tunnel op tomorrow, and I am on taxi service.

However ... as from next week ... Prepare to be spammed by me again.  And, it means I will get to keep up with what you are doing.  Speaking of which, Have I missed anything in the last 3 days?

And, as ever, no helpful phone number or link ... if I have a problem I can email them - LOL

I am hoping this will load ... but doubt it!

Over the last 48 hours I have lost the internet - all I get is ... Bad weather is causing problems! Yet, I look out of my window here - No snow!!!!! I know it is somewhere else that the weather has stolen you all from me ... but don't think I have run away, or hiding ...

I've been stolen!

Hope to see you soon!

*Waves*

BTW - Special wave to [livejournal.com profile] deborahw37 ... I thought my internet would load, and saw your post before it blanked the page ... I may not be young, but am a lady from Bude ... do I get a special ticket to see James??
