.... Yes, I am sitting in my study typing!

Today has been long ... and I lost my lunchbreak in the muddle.  That meant, although hungry, I got to go home the 1/2 hour earlier.  As I was walking along I got a text to say my internet was ready to connect - so gave it a go ....

And, here I am!

Ironically I am going to Mum & Dad's later, anyway, as Dad has his carpel-tunnel op tomorrow, and I am on taxi service.

However ... as from next week ... Prepare to be spammed by me again.  And, it means I will get to keep up with what you are doing.  Speaking of which, Have I missed anything in the last 3 days?

Hi!!!!!

Did you miss me?  Did I miss anything - after 5 days away I know I won't be able to catch up ... so if you have news, or fun - or something silly, please throw me a link!

Its been a good week - although slightly weird, as I did 2 shifts on A&E ... having been there a year and not going there I had 2 shifts - was I worried!  It was completeyly different and a lot of responsibility, but the support by all the staff was great.  I also did an out-patients clinic, which was different (but wouldn't want to do them too often!)

Lats week I said I had forgotten the camera - so here are the pics of Mum & Dad having lunch in my kitchen ... and Jiffy trying out my new furniture.

At long last I get time to catch you up with my week.

I have finished the bathroom ... all I am missing are a couple of shells that I had in my last place ... they are still in one of my boxes.  But, I am happy - and it feels great - especially after the white with black floor, small washbasin and dead/leaking shower and bath.  So the aching muscles are happy that they were killed in a good cause.
ExpandAnd here is the proof of my hard work! )

On Tuesday I had the day off as my new sofa was coming - a leather one (that I forgot to photograph) ... so the day was spent decorating the study - and boy was I tired at the end of the day.  The sofa had to come in via the back door ... which meant going through next doors garden, as I don't have a rear access.  Luckily the gate is still present.  Ionically I was only wondering when that would be changed, when I realised that it was vary handy that day ... and as the neighbours were in I could ask their permission to move furniture through the back garden!

As I said I was busy painting .....
ExpandA work in progress! )

My other breakthrough is that I have organised my internet - However, I have to wait till the end of the month before the phone line gets laid to the house .... and then they think it will be another week before the internet goes live.

So, it's coming along, slowly. But I really am feeling the it's "my" place now. My next project is to organise my bedroom - I think the spare room will still have stacked boxes for some time - as I have loads of photo albums, so may get some more bookshelves made - that depends on the bank balance though! The extra plumbing bills were unexpected.

So, that's me up to date ... tomorrow I must do cleaning for M&D as well as shopping - it's mum's birthday next week.  But, tonight, I shall try to get a few BtVS icons made.

Not much to say about the week - except it was a good one at work - so nice, busy shifts.  The time goes quickly and the patients were all ill, but not too poorly.

I finished my bathroom - and got the lino down.  So that's one room almost done.  A couple of things are still to be unpacked, when I can get at that box ... an ornament, toothbrush holder, etc.  But other than it, it looks good, and is nice to have a shower in the morning in "my" bathroom.

I have started the painting of my study ... the shelves are all undercoated (it took 3 hours!) ... so hope to get them painted this week.  I also got a first coat of paint on the walls ... a softy orange (Pictures to follow at the end).

One other task I have done is to pay for my sofa and chair, and organise for them to be delivered .  I have always had 2nd hand furniture ... but decided as part of the move to buy new.  An expense, but something I wanted to do ... hppe they are as good and comfy as they felt in the shop!

Started one of my resolutions this week as well - proper reciped for cooking.  Something I had got out of the habit of, and wanted to re-start.  Mum & Dad bought me a breadmaker as a house-warming gift, so have had that, but this week made some rolls as well.  Also a recipe for mince that I first did when I was 11 at school.  I enjoyed it, and will continue to dig out the recipes ... I have promised myself.

The final thing I have done is to check out details of how to order a "telegram" from the Queen.  Come March it is Mum & Dad's 60th Wedding Anniversary ... so wanted to find out how to order their telegram.

Right, I must get on ... and sort out some pictures to make some icons ... Blakes 7 is calling.

Hope you have all had a good week.
*hugs*

Me Update!

Wow - Friday is here - so I haz internet for the weekend.  Well, unless dad wants to use his computer!!

I have skimmed back a few pages on my friends page - but not the whole week, so please, if I missed something, kick me in that direction.

Its been another hectic week - work and decorating ... and to add to my bills, problems with the boiler!  Yes, the plumber was there when it went wrong (moving the gas pipe to fit the oven in) ... so I was able to get him to find out what bits he needs - he hopes to get back to me next week.

The decorating has been continuing -

Photobucket

Not a great picture, but is almost done (in a pale green) ... and last Wednesday I went out to buy the lino (which comes next Wed) ... and on the way back my exhaust fell off!

I had that done today, and as ever my car was one of 2 models, one with the expensive style exhaust, the other the cheepo version - yes, you guessed which one mine was!

Oh well, at least no bills tomorrow (I hope) - I want to get the house cleaned for Mum & Dad!

Hope you are all well - and enjoying 2012 ... miss you!!

At long last I get to try and catch up with the week.

When I wrote last week I was expecting the plumber all day Monday - yes, he came and did all the work ... plus more.  It turned out that as well as the loo not being attached to the floor, the overflow on the bath wasn't sealed in - so I was very lucky not to have lost the floor completely, and had the bath in the middle of the lounge!  Anyway, it's all now done - and I have actually started doing some of the painting ... white wood, and it will be a pale blue-green on the walls, with 1/2 being white tiles.  I just need to get the flooring organised and that's almost finished ... YAY!

On Thursday the plumber had to return as he was worried about the floor, so I ended up having the day off work, because ... YAY ... the bookcases for my study arrived.  This was the one thing I saw as soon as I looked round the house - so now I have the room half full of proper shelves ... so lots of painting to do!  Then I can get the boxes of books unpacked, and maybe get my guest room looking like a bedroom again.  Then I can also get the computer properly set up and look into phoneline and internet services again.

My new cooker also arrived on Thursday - so, a very expensive day!  I now have no excuses to not start properly cooking - one of the things I promised myself ... I will let you know how (or if) that works out!)

Work has remained busy - and good.  Always getting the shifts, and normally on wards I prefer, which is an added bonus.

I have been a bit lazy with the clarinet again - I must get myself more disciplined and practice for at leasta  few minutes each day.  Bude's concert date is less than 7 weeks time, and my mouth muscles are feeling very week ... more practice needed, or maybe take up kissing!!

Well, that's a brief run-down on my week.

I do miss you all during the week, and can't wait to get fully organised, and the internet back on.

House-Move Update

Saturday, January 14th, 2012 05:03 pm
debris4spike: (Stonehenge)
Well I still haven't got round to writing about last year ... and we are now a fortnight into this year and no real update.  Only having internet at weekends, or if I manage to grab a space after work in the internet cafe at work is a pain.  However, I've decided to let it drift for a few more weeks so that I get the current projects done before starting a new thing!

There are 2 things underway at my place.

Fistly I am having major plumbing work done on Monday .... as I have already mentioned my loo is not actually attached to the floor!  True!  So I am having to have a new floor, plus the the loo screwed down properly.  The washbasin was too tiny to be practical, so I'm having a new normal sized one, and the shower needed replacing.  Add to that the timer on my central heating was dead, the plumbers are going to be there all day ... and the bill will be humungous!  Still, I have the advantage in this, and everything that Tim & Claire are perfectionists, and have been able to rec good tradesmen.

The other project in hand is my tiny bedroom is going to become my "studio" ... well I do love my icon-work so the computer will be there, hence the name.  I am having shelves made, floor to ceiling on 1 1/2 walls ao all my books can go there.

So those 2 are coming along well.

I have had all my door and window hinges serviced, and some replaced ... and had the smoke alarm re-furbished (living in a 3 story house it's essential) ... as well as new sockets put in the studio for the computer.

So, as you see, life is coming along well at the house.
