... Yes, I actually managed to get quite a bit done.

Some housework, done and I was happy to wake up to an organised and clean bedroom ... even my kitchen floor is looking clean at present.  I still have my spare room to do, but another day off work tomorrow.

I am off this morning but later this afternoon I am going into work, so it's one of those days where I shall have to keep an eye on the clock.

Later, when it stops raining, I shall walk down to vote (local council elections) and pick up some milk.  The Polling Station is in a local Chapel, which is opposite the supermarket, so that's great.

I need to go and speak to my doctors as well.  They are changing their method of re-ordering prescriptions.  It had been a web site,  but now they are going to an App ... great.  Except I only have a basic phone ... so ...!!!!  Really frustrating how everyone presumes that you have a smart phone.  With my life as it is, I don't need the expense of it.

I shall get on, but as ever I shall do the latest of [livejournal.com profile] kazzy_cee's questions -

Today is a day to celebrate tuna fish. Do you eat fresh or canned/tinned tuna. If it's in a can, do you buy it in oil, brine or water.
Not a great fish eater any way at all.

Right ... I am going to post some icons over at my icon journal - [livejournal.com profile] d4s_icons They will be from BtVS (season 6), Star Trek Voyager & Blakes 7. There will also be some made from photographs with either a travel or Spring theme. As ever they are snaggable.

Right, see you tomorrow

I had a great day in the end, yesterday.

I jad walked to the shops earlier (and caught the bus home) .... In fact I had door-to-door service, as my nearest bus-stop is on a corner, and not nice for the buses to stop at.  The driver asked me whether I wanted to stop before or after, the stop.  I asked for before, and he pulled in literally in front of my house ... door to door!!

I had just packed the shopping away when my door rang ... it was a local counciller canvassing for the elections in May.  He gave me a leaflet which he asked me to read (as his first question was would I be voting for this candidate, to which I had said no) ... so I said I would.  The leaflet ended up just having the name and addresses of the candidate and the secretarial team ... I had expected a promotional flier as to how amazing both Exeter & England would be if I voted that way.  So in the end, it was just a waste of paper!

I then tried logging onto my computer, to get a phone call from Claire asking me to meet her for champagne, to celebrate her 10th anniversary of returning home from her mastectomy ... we met at The Ivy (so it was an expensive afternoon) ... but very nice ... here I am, and you just have to see the loos ...

When we left it was to then walk to a pub to meet Tim from work, so we could have a meal, before walking home.  I had suggested it, even though I had dinner at their's yesterday after our day trip, but Tim has had a super tough week, so said it would be nice to start his weekend off on a positive note.

Now it's today ... I have had a short walk as I needed to post a letter, and want to do some exercise (even though it was only about a mile), but still spotted some more signs of Spring -

Now I am here sorting things out, and will try and catch up with you all in a moment.  So, before I post this let me catch up ... it will be 3 days, as on Monday I meeting up with Christine to celebrate her birthday -

18. National Battery Day. In England, we are not permitted to dispose of spent batteries in the general waste collection. Do you have the facility to dispose of your spent batteries safely where you live?
Local supermarket does a collection ... or I take them into work.

19. National Lash Day - have you ever worn false eyelashes or are yours long enough already?
Don't wear make-up, other than an occasional eye-liner. My eyelashes are very wispy, but I have eczema on my eyelids ... have done sine I was 14. But as I don't wear make-up it's not really a problem

20. International Mother Language Day: What is the mother language of your home?
English

Right let's get this posted

I have just come back from my short walk, having gone via the Polling Station.  I was suprised, as I thought it was local council voting ... however when I got there it was the City, the County & the Police Chief of the County.  So I got to vote 3 times, having remembered to take my pencil with me!  The real problem was that the last couple of times I voted I had it easy, as Jiffy went with me so I took the polling paper and asked him to pick a vote for me!  This time I had to vote it all for myself and decide - very tough!

The other half of my walk was to post off a couple of rings to be repaired.  one of the ladies I work with has a brother who is a "chief" goldsmith in the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter.  I have been meaning to get them done for ages, and when I saw one of them again this weekend I decided I really needed to get Debbie's brother's name.  The 2 rings had both belonged to my Grandmother (Mum's Mum) ... and both were engagement rings!  One was from pre-WWI, but sadly he was killed in 1915, and then the other was from my Grandfather in 1920.  So it will be good to get them both wearable again.  So I am looking forward to re-gaining that part of my family history.  Anyone who knows me knows I adore jewellery (as did Mum), and it's the one disadvantage of nursing in the NHS ... one ring only (technically stated as a wedding band), but I actually wear 2 plain rings on one of my little fingers.  Tim loves his jewellery, as well - but Nick, and my 2 sisters-in-law only wear as minimum as possible.   (Nick never wears any at all now)

So, now I am here, and getting this scribbled ... and then to make some icons.

Hope you are all having a good Thursday

6. What’s the last thing you said out loud?
"Thank You" ... to the lady who gave me my 3 voting slips

For those you read my long-delayed update (here, if you missed it) I forgot to say that I won't be posting photos here (or on Facebook) while I am away. With an unusual surname it would be too easy to track that my house is empty. However I have set up a Wordpress Blog to occasionally update ... if you want to follow me, please ask for the name.

Well I didn't get round to answering your comments did I? I would imagine it will be this weekend before I get full focus.

This morning as I was taking Jiffy for a walk I saw the signs uo for the Polling Station ... I was suprised I hadn't voted, until I realised that they had put the signs up a day early!  Yes, I will be voting tomorrow.

Hope things are OK ... *hugs*

Naughty Deborah!!!

I forgot to vote - something I am passionate about.  I am not very political, but always vote - except last Thursday.

However it didn't help that the polling card arrived weeks ago (and I never keep them, once I have checked where I have to go), and literally NO fliers came through my door to remind me.  I heard it on the news as I woke up .... so the plan was after work ... then I heard it on the following day.  No posters, fliers, no one mentioned it at work ...

Apathy ruled and sucked me in!

Yes, I put my Xin it's box ... then came home and drove mum and dad down for their votes.

What a day so far - had my final Hepatitis "stab" ... so only confirmation blood tests to go.  So, thanks to work 2 MMRs and 3 Heps ... lots more to me now!

Many thanks to the most thoughtful of friends ... I am now protected from adverse programming waves that flow around the Cosmos, due to my flashy new Tin Helmet ... [livejournal.com profile] jaded_jamie  you are the best ... now I just wait for The Doctor to fully protect the world, but until then I have a new fashion accessory!  (Don't know what the hospital will make of it!)

Well, tea is drunk, thanks are said ... I'm off to vote ... a priviledge that we in Britain should never ignore ... don't know if I have Local Elections or just the Vote system ... but either/or I wanted to do it ... hence the reason I'm here today.
