I forgot to vote - something I am passionate about.  I am not very political, but always vote - except last Thursday.

However it didn't help that the polling card arrived weeks ago (and I never keep them, once I have checked where I have to go), and literally NO fliers came through my door to remind me.  I heard it on the news as I woke up .... so the plan was after work ... then I heard it on the following day.  No posters, fliers, no one mentioned it at work ...

Apathy ruled and sucked me in!

We have had vote-by-mail in Oregon for years now. I actually don't prefer it - going to my polling place felt like a special event and was a source of civic pride. However, it is very convenient.

In other political news, Little Boy Blue and I were snuggling this morning and he wondered if Donald Trump became president if he'd bring back racism and racist laws. That led to a very good discussion, but I'm sad that this is something he worries about.

I am worried about it too. I have my eye fixed on the Canadian border because I cannot imagine trying to live in Trump's America.

I had my polling card. I also received no literature about who the candidates were, their parties, what they stood for. And it seems like this was the norm
How is anyone supposed to make an informed choice when we have nothing to base it on? Surely that defeats the purpose. I also have NO idea what a Police & Crime Comissioner even is - see aforementioned lack of information available.
*grumbles*
Sorry got a little grrr there

Voting is compulsory here, so if you don't vote you get a fine, and we still have to go to the polling booth to vote. We have a federal election coming up in July and I wish we won't receive any literature but I know we will be bombarded with leaflets and ads, so it's going to be a longgggg... campaign.
