debris4spike: (Breast Cancer)
.... Claire is cancer free.

4 years ago she had a mastectomy, but didn't need chemo or radio. Since then she has had her annual check-ups on the other side and is fine.

She hasn't worked for those 4 years on the 12th Feb, and normally spends the day with Tim, but this year he couldn't get the time off work.

So, after taking Jiffy for a walk, I picked her up and we drove to Street to "Clark's village". Claire bought lunch, and then we went shopping. I was quite restrained, only buying a couple of pairs of jeans on special offer, and a present for a friend's birthday. However we did also go in the Cadbury shop (enough said!!).

On our way home we had a huge diversion, but as it wasn't bad weather it just meant longer to chat!!

So, a nice way to celebrate her anniversary - it was so lovely to see her looking so happy (while spending money!!)

But I mustn't forget the February Meme, as well.

February 12 - How old were you the first time you made love? Was it a mistake?
Ummm, not applicable!

February 13 - What do you love about yourself.
Nothing really.

Typical Deborah

debris4spike: (Jiffy - sleepy)
Anyway, yesterday was the [livejournal.com profile] monthlydiaryday and I posted there the first time in ages. However, this is all I wrote ...

I slept! Well, drank water, ate some fruit & salad, and slept!

Yes I have managed to get flu, despite having had the flu jab last October!

Hope the rest of you had a better day!

So even though I have loads of comments to reply to, loads of icons to make (I actually signed up for 2 sets of 20), loads of letters to write; but I have a fuzzy brain and an aching body.

Sorry I keep disappearing ... as ever, will try better.

12th February

Another 12th arrives, and I actually have time to scribble.

I have now been off work a couple of weeks, so am beginning to slowly feel human again - viral infections!!!

Anyway - yesterday, started off with the normal brekkie, and the taking Jiffy fo a walk.  Since I inherited him I am learning a lot about local roads, as he loves to explore!  Once back he got his car harness on and we were off to "Mum & Dad's" ... well, up the road from them actually as Jiffy was booked into the hairdressor for his bi-monthly care.

I dropped him off and went back to M&D's and did some more sorting.  The house is cool as we have turned the heating down.  I did mostly my room, as that is less depressing than throwing things away (although there is still a lot to do).  I had lunch ... McDonalds (!!!), and then back for more sorting - starting to empty the kitchen now.

On my way back to pick up Jiffy I dropped some stuff off at a Charity Shop, and stopped at the cemetary there, as I wanted to see my friend's mother's tombstone, which had been put up recently.

Then back to collect Jiffy, and back home.

A nice lazy evening, watching junk on TV and playing Tetris on my tablet.

So, not a bad day overall.
debris4spike: (Mum)
Actually have a free moment to update, again, and find that yesterday was the 12 ... so thought I would do my [livejournal.com profile] monthlydiaryday update ... so you know what I was up to yeasterday.

My 12th )

Yes, Dad does have panics ... this afternoon we spent a lot of time going through photo albums as he was all muddled as to mum, his sister and his mother ... where they lived, etc.  I think I got him square again ... but so, so sad to see.

I have written a basic eulogy, so have sent it to Nick to see what he thinks .... Tomorrow I must take our cards down to the florist, because, although Mum is not being buried locally, we are getting the wreath from a local shop, as Dad knows them well (they also sell pet food).

Thank you for your love & support - it is what is carrying me through.
debris4spike: (Jiffy - painting)
As I have my one evening off of the week, I was planning on another mini update, and realised that yesterday was the 12th ... so will do that instead.  As it was a day at Mum & Dad's it will give friends an idea of what a "non-work" day is!  Writing here and linking to [livejournal.com profile] monthlydiaryday means I only have to type once!!

How to spend a day not at work! )
debris4spike: (James - pointing finger)
yay - I got round to posting in the [livejournal.com profile] monthlydiaryday ... I have been really bad this year.

The 12th Again

debris4spike: (RDE)
I owe a few replies to comments .... but I am going to actually do the [livejournal.com profile] monthlydiaryday as I have missed it the last few months.

So, here goes - a "normal day" for me!

Just a normal day )

Hope you also had a good day.

May The 12th

Tuesday, May 13th, 2014 11:40 am
debris4spike: (Stone sculpture)
Yesterday being the 12th of the month it is "Diary Day", on [livejournal.com profile] monthlydiaryday ... I seem to only get this done every other month.

Anyway ... here goes ....

The alarm sounded too loud this morning ... but I was a good girl, crawled out of bed, showered, had breakfast, got lunch ready, read my Bible reading for the morning (1 Kings 1 - 2) and then headed off to work.

The shift was in "Clinical Measurements" and is part of the technical side of ill health.  I spent the morning ina "flow" clinic ... men with prostrate problems who have difficulties passing a smooth stream of wee.  It's all timed and measured ... then sent off to the specialist.

In the afternoon I was calibrating and cleaning "sleep" kits ... the testing equipment that is used to see if someone has sleep apnoea. So all in all a more different day in a hospital than most people would expect.

Then home, and I made a bacon & cheese pasta (enough for 3 days as there's only me) ... and then computer time.

I started off my checking through LJ, and catching up with comments etc, then updated the great news about my mum's breast cancer improvement, and my dad's skin cancer surgery.  Then I got some final icons made for the [livejournal.com profile] season20in20 latest round (I did a Blakes 7 set), and then wrote to my brother, and also emailed my dad's doc to check on his prescription.  My dad, sadly, has Alzheimer's and so I try to keep tabs on what's happening with him.

And so to bed.

A normal day - but actually got quite a bit done.
debris4spike: (OK - James)
It's [livejournal.com profile] monthlydiaryday  again

I really must post this month - I didn't last month as I sort of "lost" the day it was when Claire was having a mastectomy & reconstruction.  So, here we are 4 weeks later and Claire is doing well, although the healing is slow.  (I think I posted that she got the all-clear on spread of the cancer)

As for my day ... it was "normal"

Breakfast, Bible reading, making sandwiches ... and then off to work.

This morning I was working in a Plastic Surgery clinic (I work as an Auxilliary Nurse for those who don't know), and then after lunch I was working as a runner ... weighing new patients and testing urine for those in a Urology clinic.

Then home to dinner.

In the evening I did washing, which I hung outside, as the weather forecast was good (saves me getting ultra-organised in the morning) ... then watched a bit of a DVD (South Pacific); before switching on my computer and doing some art work for the [livejournal.com profile] slayerstillness competition this week.

And so to bed.
debris4spike: (James - head tilt (white with blue backg)
As most of you know I am a member of [livejournal.com profile] monthlydiaryday and Sunday was the 12th of January ... so ... what did I get up to?

I set the alarm for about 7.45 as I have to make sure Dad is awake and focussed. So breakfast, and organising Dad, then off to Church. My Dad is 89 and suffers from Alzheimer's, but at the moment he is playing the piano for services, as our normal musician is sadly suffering with cancer.

So, off to Chapel (we are members of the Plymouth Brethren) and our group has 2 services on a Sunday morning. The first service was lovely ... especially as we started with one of my favourite hymns. Sadly I decided to head home rather than wait for the next service ... I have a virus on my diaphragm at present, and coughed, coughed, coughed ... so thought I would let the rest of the congregation should have some peace and quiet!

Once home I went to bed for a couple of hours. Mum was on the phone when we got in, so we ended up having a late lunch (roast chicken, and apple crumble).

After lunch I read the paper to Mum while Dad took their Westie for a walk. My Mum is registered blind, so it is good to read things to her ... and to do the crossword.

After tea (of Chelsea Buns - that Mum had made that morning) we chatted a bit more, before I headed off to my place (which is 25 minutes drive away), and once here I got caught up with LJ.

Then early-ish to bed, and a bit of reading, before turning off the light at 10.30.

The 12th Again

Wednesday, November 13th, 2013 08:04 am
debris4spike: (James - buzz cut & name.)
I did say I would try to post - so thought that as yesterday was the 12th I would try to get a monthly entry in to [livejournal.com profile] monthlydiaryday   this time.

So, what did I do yesterday?

Normal 7am alarm call ... at which time I emptied my washing machine onto my whirl-line .... while watching the sunrise clouds changing shape and colour ... normally I'm not awake enough to notice! Then I loaded a second set into the machine. This time I can some of dad's trousers to do ...a rarity as Mum normally does it, but at their ages it's nice to pick up the flack for them when I can. Once I's showered, read my Bible, breakfast, made sarnies ... and hung out the 2nd load I made it to work at 9am (just!)

I was working on Surgical Outpatients. In the morning I was in a breast-care clinic. It never ceases to amaze me how many people come through these clinics ... and sadly how many have poor a diagnosis .... 14 patients in that group ... 2 to receive bad news, and 2 were going off for urgent scans (one male) as the doctor knew they would also get bad news. The rest were scanned, but came back with the all-clear.

Then after lunch I was working in the same area of the hospital, but weighing people as they arrived ... making sure notes were in the correct place ... etc.

Home soon after 5.30, and while the meal was cooking I rushed down the road to the supermarket ... milk, fruit etc a necessity.

After dinner it was ironing ... and more ironing. I watched Robin Hood on the DVD ... Errol Flynn is a great distraction!

Then onto the computer for a bit of a catch up, and to make some Blakes 7 icons ... before bed, with my light off at about 11pm (after some Spuffy reading to relax me, of course)
debris4spike: (Giraffe)
... So what, I hear you say!

Well a few months back I did the 12th diary ... and a group of us said that we would try to do it every month.  I failed miserably, so have decided to make a valient effort today!

12/08/13 )

Hope your day was more fun!!

.
debris4spike: (Procrastinate - daleks.)
[livejournal.com profile] curiouswombat has suggested that maybe it would be nice to do the write up that we did last month on a monthly basis .... For those who don't know what I mean, clickety-click

So I decided I would try to give it a go, as I have been wanting to re-focus my life ... which means my LJ as well as eveything else. As I said I was doing more icons this month, I have also managed to get my decorating almost finished in my spare room - and will do the final bits when I have typed this. So, all in all, focus is happening ... well at the moment anyway LOL

So, as today is the 13th, that means the 12th was yesterday ... so what happened to fill my day?

Wednesday 12th June 2013 )

So nothing exciting - but a normal day ... that actually went quite well.

OK, lets get my furniture put back in place in the spare room ... and hopefully some time for a few icons before bed!

Happy Thursday everyone.
