Change Of Plans!

I should have been working today, but after an hour one of the other workers arrived ... so I came home. It gave me a chance to try to sort out things for the weekend, as I am away from Friday (thus all the questions of the meme below!). Claire (the boss there) is working on a new shift pattern for those with contracts, and thus muddled me ... she is going to sort out regular shifts for me, without contract, so that is great. Even though I have only worked there a couple of times she has always kept me up to date with any changes ... unlike the Matron of the dept that I do the urology clinics in. Soosie is a "lovely" person! I have worked for the dept for about 8 years with regular shifts, and there are going to be some major changes (probably) next year, yet she has never mentioned anything. Sadly I have worked with Matrons throughout the hospital like her ... some just treat me as a nurse doing my job. But some like Soosie don't look at people of a low grade ... no worries for me, just so frustrating when in the end of the day we are meant to be working to help patients, not to see who has the correct colour uniform!

Rant over!

As I said, I am working tomorrow, and Friday morning ... then heading off to near Nick & Brenda's for Andrew & Jess's wedding. Hope to be back on Monday with lots of photos, but Jess is not great at being near a camera ... hope she realises this is one day where we all need to see her!

This afternoon I need to get a new front tyre, so looks like the time off has worked for me. But, before I go -

27. Who was the last person to make you angry?
I do hve a quick temper, but it disappears as quickly, so can't remember.

28. When was the last time you properly cleaned out your refrigerator?
Oh, are we meant to clean them!!!!!!!!!!!! Dad used to do theirs every couple of months, but I tend to only get round to it every so often ... as you can tell it really does need to get done soon.

29. Is there anything you regularly lie about?
The reason a clinic is running late! I will say the physiologist is on the phone ... whereas they are possibly just finishing their coffee

30. Do you mostly do specific chores on specific days each week (e.g. groceries on Saturday, laundry on Wednesday, etc.)?
A day off means shopping. Only Sunday is a set day for me.
Mum had strict routines to the end of her life ... Mondays was wash day, whereas for me, washing is when the basket is full

31. Of this month's questions, which was your favourite?

Good question - if I remembered what they all were!

Right.
I am uploading some photos from Winchester that I forget to post, so hope to get those up at some point ... but basically I am off until Monday, now.

Enjoy the rest of your week x

Yes, she may have died almost 6 years ago, but the year before she had said that there was a reason that they had been put in the same uni house.

Yes, Andrew went to Southampton Uni back in 2014, and was put in a house with 9 other people, one of whom was also a committed Christian. So, Mum said that God realised they would suit!. Anyway they shared a house for 3 years, then she went to Spain to work for 2 years. When she came back she went to college in Bath, and gave Andrew a ring and said that it would be fun to catch up. Eventually they started dating, and yesterday Andrew & Jess became engaged. So both are now 25 and with that history I am really hopeful that they have a great chance to really survive.

Congratulations Andrew & Jess

I do love that top, or dress, she is wearing!

Well while passing on good news, I will also do the 2 days meme to be able to turn off the pc soon.

6. What do you think about hunting?
Sorry it's not PC, but for me I see the history of the English Countryside ... a lot of long term heritage.
In most hunts very few animals are actually caught, as they are mostly cleverer that humans, and can often out-smart us!

7. What places are you really grateful exist?
Museums

Well this evening I shall be watching Sound of Music ... I do love that film, and will honour Christopher Plummer ... may he R.I.P.

Not that there's any real news, but I have been a bit "in and out" so haven't really kept you all up to date with the trauma that's me at present!

On the good news side -

  • Claire is doing well - is now almost back up to full time hours, although some of those are spent working from home ... but she is doing well, and rarely gets super-tired now.  She has been enjoying a "Force" charity return to work thingy.  A charity to support those with cancer, and their families ... she even persuaded Tim to have a couple of massages, so all in all good news.

  • Andrew is already getting organised for his move, sorting out housing, a Church ... so at the moment it's going well ... butterflies have still to arrive!

  • Jiffy is having fun with the better weather - Mum & Dad can keep the back door open, so he can let himself out to bark at the magpies when they land on the neighbours house!  I am sure he sometimes sees invisible rhinoceroses though as he can be charging around more than needed for one bird!

  • Dad still plays the piano at Church every other week - Anne the organist is slowly improving from her cancer ... so they share it, which is great for them both.

Well sadly that's all I can think about on the positive :(  ... so now for the not good news!!

  • Mum is in a lot of pain - she has inflamed one of the tendons in her hip, and despite having an injection she is not much easier.  She is sleeping a lot and is finding movement very hard .. which is really depressing for her.  Sadly she is a bit more intolerant of Dad's poor memory, which causes tension.  He knows it, and accepts it ... until he is having a bad moment, and then it is not easy for either of them.  In calm times they both know that "you only hurt the one you love" ... and sadly being able to snap shows that after 62 years of marriage they are still working well together!  So negative and positive at the same time!

  • I have had to abandon my fence painting - have 1 1/2 sides done ... hope to get the rest done a few planks at a time.

  • I have less than 2 weeks to go now ... and am rapidly losing mobility ... very stiff and achy all the time, despite keeping going as much as possible and taking pain killers as needed.  I have also had to stop wearing my lenses, although have tried a few times, within about 3 hours of them in, despite eye-drops, my eyes feel full of gravel.  I ended up seeing an optician locally as couldn't drive to mine in Bude.  She said that my eyes look ok (so that's good), but that I needed new glasses if I was going to wear them all the time - the cheapest I could get were £400, but I am happy in them ... and am, after all these years, thinking that depending on the diagnosis I may go into glasses full time.

  • Yes, can't drive very far at all - which means my day trip plans with my friend from Church have mostly been missed this summer ... and I had to say I wont be playing in the orchestra concert ... both the drive and the weakness and slowness in my fingers will stop that.

  • Mum & Dad's house and garden are no where near as tidy as I had hoped .... I can't work a full Saturday on it ... even though Jiffy helps!  I have mostly managed to keep the garden about 75% tidy ... as it's good to work outside, but housework has been a  bit sparse ... so don't look at the dust if you pop over for a cuppa ;)

Well that seems about most of what's happening ... in other words not much as I can't do too much, and when I can I can't afford it as I have had to cut my hours back!

Sorry for a  bit of a moan, but mostly this was meant to catch friends back up to date .... and to explain why I am sometimes a bit MIA!!
debris4spike: (Yay!)
I'm very very happy today - one very proud Auntie.

Andrew, my eldest nephew, who has always been a really lovely person worked hard for his A's ... and got A*, A*, A & B ... and got into his first place Uni to study Aerodynamics ... the course he has wanted for quite a long time.

Well done Andrew.

I went onto You Tube to look for the video for my next 100 meme to find my nephew had yet again uploaded some "covers" .... Most of them I don't know, such as this one -

But at least I do know this one he did a couple of months back.

Hair Cut

You all know how much I don't really like FaceBook - well I have just "had" to post this on my eldest nephew's page ... he will be 17 in September and is already trying to persuade everyone to let him learn to drive.

A teenage boy had just passed his driving test and inquired of his father as to when they could discuss his use of the car. His father said he'd make a deal with his son: 'You bring your grades up from a C to a B average, study your Bible a little, and get your hair cut. Then we'll talk about the car.'

The boy thought about that for a moment, decided he'd settle for the offer, and they agreed on it.

After about six weeks his father said, 'Son, you've brought your grades up and I've observed that you have been studying your Bible, but I'm disappointed you haven't had your hair cut.

The boy said, 'You know, Dad, I've been thinking about that, and I've noticed in my studies of the Bible that Samson had long hair, John the Baptist had long hair, Moses had long hair...and there's even strong evidence that Jesus had long hair.'

You're going to love the Dad's reply:

'Did you also notice they walked everywhere they went?'

Andrew's Baptism

Thursday, February 25th, 2010 02:00 pm

I said last week that last Sunday we were going to Andrew's baptism - and I haven't got round to reporting back!

It was a long day - but truly special.

ExpandA long ramble about the service )

After theis we went back to Nick and Brenda's for more chat ... and more food, if we wanted ... and Andrew had his picture taken with each part of our side of the family.  Brenda's family didn't want to bother, sor some unusual reason.  Oh well, Andrew only had to suffer for a short time, didn't he.

Here he is with his Auntie Deborah -

We left about 4.30 (with sandwiches for our tea) and headed home, picking up Jiffy en route.

All in all a lovely day - and I was so pleased to be there, and to see all the family (on our side) celebrating with him - I hope he remembers his day, as I do mine, for the rest of his life.
