Well, I solved my lack of focus!

Yesterday I walked into the city and round the Cathedral ... photos to come. Then I met up with Tim & Claire, which was a really lovely evening. Great to catch up with them.

Then today I spent the morning doing some housework, and shopping ... and got both my flu & Covid jabs. In the past 3 years I have had them done on different days, but decided that I have had double jabs of other things in the past, so had them both this morning ... so far, so good!

Chatted to Christine for a time this afternoon, as well ... arranging to meet up with her next week.

Now I am here. I want to get a couple of icons made, as well ass the photos from yesterday edited, and then posted.

So, before I do that .... I am working tomorrow so am getting ahead of myself -

24. How often do you get your vision tested?
About every 10 months - I have had surgery in the past and am slowly losing the sight ... so I can actually get an appointment whenever I want, rather than wait the 2 years which it should be.

25. It’s World Opera Day - are you a fan?
Some of the music is lovely - I have played it when I was in the orchestra.
I have only been to one opera, and even though I knew, and liked the music, I hated that it was a modern setting etc. Some of the cast were in the audience, and the lead character, rather than carrying "his magic flute", was carrying a teddy bear!!

26. National Pumpkin Day - what’s your favourite type of pumpkin to eat?
None

27. In 1975 Bruce Springsteen was featured on the covers of Time and Newsweek Magazines - have you a favourite Springsteen song?
Off-hand I only know his famous "Bon in the USA"

Right, see you Monday x

Yes, sorry Mum, but I bought some mince pies today!  For Mum, mince pies were what we had from Christmas Eve to 12th night.  Mum used to make them and my memory of them is special.  She made beautiful pastry ... in fact she was an amazing cook.  Last year, nearer to Christmas I made my own which was nice, but seeing these on sale today, I just had to bow to temptation!

Work was actually good for a change, and we finished a bit early so I went and got my flu jab on the way home.  I had my Covid a few weeks ago, and now work is giving both on the same day.  So I confused the system!  Still it's done.  I had asked at my doctors last week when I was passing, but bizarrely they aren'r doing flu jabs this year.  Seems totally ironic given what is going on!  So far the arm feels OK, so hopefully that will continue. - I have had flu jabs for about 20 years now and (so far) never had a problem.

I have an appointment tomorrow with my osteopath for my ankle injury ... and am glad of that as over the last couple of days one of the damaged muscles is really sore.  However, the other one seems to be OK, so that's a positive point.

Well I have loads of letters I must write, so will sign off here ... well, after -

25. Do you own/wear any jumpsuits?
No!

Eat right!

Make sure you get your daily dose of fruits and veggies ... Take your vitamins and bump up your vitamin C.

Get plenty of exercise because exercise helps build your immune system.   Walk for at least an hour a day ... Go for a swim ...Take the stairs instead of the elevator, etc.

Wash your hands often.   If you can't wash them, keep a bottle of antibacterial stuff around.

Get lots of fresh air.   Open doors & windows whenever possible.

Try to eliminate as much stress from your life as you can.

Get plenty of rest.

OR ... Take the doctor's approach.

Think about it ... When you go for a flu shot, what do they do first?  They Clean your arm with alcohol ...  Why ???

Because Alcohol KILLS GERMS   ...  So......

I walk to the liquor store. (exercise)
I put lime in my lager ...(fruit)
Celery in my Bloody Mary (veggies)
Drink outdoors on the bar patio..(fresh air)
Tell jokes, laugh....(eliminate stress)
Then pass out. (rest)
The way I see it...

If you keep your alcohol levels up flu germs can't get you!

My grandmother always said - 'A shot in the glass is better than one in the ass!'

Brief Update On Tim

As I told you at the weekend he has Swine Flu ... Was taken ill 10 days ago now.

I spoke to him yesterday - and although chatty, he was really exhausted.

He is now on TamiFlu, Anti-biotics and Paracetamol ... and is in isolation for at least another 5 days.  He then gets to speak to the doctor to see if he can leave the house.

Yesterday, Claire was starting to cough - but haven't heard if she is going down as well - we wait and see on that one.

So he sits at home - sleeps and has extended his satellite package to get extar films!!!  But is finding that he falls asleep half way through!

Still, he is getting slowly better - so that is the main thing.

I have just heard from my sister-in-law that my brother Tim has been diagnosed with Swine Flu.

He was taken ill on ednesday - and tried paracetamol and hot drinks, then spoke to someone this morning.  So, he is now on Tami-Flu ... And we will hate to wait and see how quicly that starts to kick in.
