Monday Again ...

... Although this week the washing is up on my indoor airer. I am lucky with a 3 story house so have an airer to hang over the stairwell which means they dry fairly quickly, and still smell fresh (& no electric for a tumble drier).

I realised over the weekend that I forgot an addition to my daily meme question about the history/age of our names. Deborah was early early history, my surname early 17th century ... but the nickname was the early 1990's ... Debris is such an appropriate name for me, especially seeing as the question was on Friday when I had bumps and bruises everywhere!

Weekend shifts went well. In fact I am so thankful that I wasn't on duty on the reverse shifts as Mel who did the other 2 shifts had a couple of heart-attack patients arrive at the entrance rather than A&E ... and sadly one was a baby, who even sadder passed away. We all "talk" about the possibilities, but I don't suppose you can ever come to terms with it. Well maybe it shows we are still human if we find it hard to come to terms with such events.

Now I have a couple of days off. I had aimed to go to see Auntie Joyce to see if she had made any decisions, but seeing as the knee and wrists still ache I had cancelled the trip. On the bad side that means I have no excuse not to clean out that large kitchen cupboard.

Still I am sure I can think of some great excuses! After all I do want to have a walk, and am running low on milk so need to get that anyway. Since my trip to Turkey I do like black tea ... but drink it weak that way, and much prefer strong "builder's" tea with milk.

So ... let's get on ...

6 – Start of the British Pie Week! What is your favourite savoury pie? How about your favourite sweet pie? Is a pasty lid on top of a casserole really a pie?

Mum used to make the most amazing chicken pie. I used to watch her do it at least every other week, and can't remember what she did. And, guess whta, I never got her to write down what she added.
She also made a raspberry pie (as well as apple) to die for ... Dad's favourite.
Most of her fruit pies had a "empty" bottom, but still had pastry sides and top ... her chicken one had a top & bottom.
Now having typed that it makes me wish for a slice of both those pies again.

Right now I am hungry! I shall get myself a cup of tea before I do anything else. I am trying to be a good girl this week, as over the weekend I end up having quite a few biscuits, so I am sure the calories were a bit high!

So, will catch up with you soon x

At Long Last .....

.... I have my new router so can try to keep up to date from now on (*fingers crossed*)

Well that's the good news .... the bad news is OUCH .....

As you know, I have been battling the tooth problem from Easter, and last week had the tooth taken out.  End of problem, HA HA.  Apparantly 1 : 10,000 extractions give something called a "dry socket" ; in other words the hole refuses to heal.  So I had the socket cleaned and packed yesterday and started on penocillin, and have to return for more treatment in a couple of days.  They think it may take up to 6 months to heal :(

I asked "Why?"; and was told there was absolutely no reason .... so I pointed out that my last extraction went the same way.  Apparantly all that proves is that I am incredibly unlucky ... so, for those who wonder how I got the name Debris, you can see why!!!

Also saw the doctor today as my thyroid has decided to pack up.  The good news is that I now get free prescriptions, the bad news is that it makes my tiredness worse ... so not good to go with the CFS!!

Well must get lunch and head into work.

Will try and catch up with some of those back comments this evening.

Day 3 - My Day In Detail

Is it worth scribbling much. I sometimes do "the 12th" meme, so you get specific details then. However at present I am off work sick, so most of the day I am resting, I take Jiffy for a walk, see Dad, and more resting.

So not really worth writing about!

Day 4 - My Name

Debris4spike

Debris = I am accident prone ++++ (some of you will have seen me all but fall off the stage at a James event in Cardiff. Nothing unusual. The orchestra I was a member of were used to asking where the bandages were this week! The conductor gave me the nickname, as a derivative of Deborah (my real name)
4Spike = It is Spike that brought me to the fandom.
debris4spike: (Gardening - cut the grass Avon &Vila)
Last Tuesday I was doing loads of gardening as it needs doing, and we had great weather, so it was a good day.

That was until I skidded off a small wall, tried to save myself, and ended up landing on my side on the same wall .... a real acrobatic move 🙌

So I worked a half day yesterday, and ended up not working today. Nothing broken but very bruised.

And some people wonder how I got my nickname
😉

Day 18 - The Meaning Behind Your Blog Name

I am sure you all know the answer to this!

I got into fandom and LJ via an adoration for the character Spike ... so, let's me a kid and use the "4" Spike!

My RL name is Deborah ... but I am NOT a Debbie. When I met the conductor of the orchestra he was introduced to me as Debbie, and I corrected him, as I do everyone! As I had a black eye he said that he thought Debris was more appropriate! It stuck, especially as by the following Monday the eye was OK, but I had cut a chunk out of the palm of my left hand!!!

I Has Pictures!

I am meant to be ironing ... but decided a mini pic-scam was needed instead!  So, if I had rumpled uniform tomorrow, it's your fault!

Last Saturday I was in Bude for the Orchestra concert (Here is the programme)

It went well - and we had a good audience. However, at the end the conductor said he had a few words to say ... Yes, he gave thanks for all the hard work I had done over the 20 years that he had been conductor, and said that he was missing his "right hand man" ... I was pleased that if it had to bedone, then he was the one to do it. Barry is the one person who has always chatted, and over that time we have met and beaten some great challenges. Yes, I miss orchestra ... but they gave me 25 years of memories, and as a leaving gift, I had a 6" model of a clarinet - plus this wall plaque, which just made me choke. It is Barry, btw, who gave me the nickname of Debris.

Photobucket

I had a bouquet of flowers - and here you can see them on my coffee table in my lounge ... also showing more pics on the wall, and what part of my house looks like -

Photobucket

I said that I bought some flowers ... well here they are in tubs, along with the tubs from Bude. The large square one in the bottom picture (at the top/back) is my Jaykub rose bush.

Saturday Evening.

Just a brief note really - I'm almost done, only my journey home to go.   However, did want to post about this, as I knew it would make some of you laugh - but didn't want to add it to the concert write-up!

~ ~ ~

When I got back to Picadilly on saturday night, I had to re-book in, which didn't turn out to be a hassle, in the end!  I then decided to change my shoes and go for a walk around Picadilly Circus and just let the day soak into me.

So, I took off my sandles, felt sore on my left foot, so presumed I had rubbed a blister (even though the shoes weren't new) ... I looked down, to see I'm standing in a puddle of blood.  Mentally had a moan about the cleanliness of the room, stepped back, to see more blood ... yes, I had managed to take a huge chunk out of the side of my toe that evening!

I always said I would do anything for James - but hadn't expected it to mean me shedding blood for him ... Thank goodness for JamesFog - not much pain!!!!!

And then people wonder where I get my username of Debris from!

No Band practice tonight - I have cut my lower lip badly!  I actually did it a couple of days ago, and thought it would have healed by =now ... Oh, well ...!

It's not suprising that I have the nickname of Debris, is it?

Well - as most of you should know the 2nd half comes from the most amazing character to ever hit the screens!  What more need I say!

The Debris-bit is a nickname I was given 15 (ish) years ago by the conductor of the orchestra - and it stuck - as I think it is funny ... but true.

Take this evening for example.

I was going to type up DJ's morning - have tea and then sort out some pics to put on photo-bucket of hy hols.  So far - so good.

Tea was easy - toast and peanut butter.

So I put 2 pieces of bread in the pop-up toaster, and went to type about DJ.  So fa - so good.

DJ was up on LJ - time for tea.  I opened my kitchen door to black smoke ... and the remains of a toaster - not only had it burnt the toast - it burnt itself!  So I am also now thinking that my smoke-detector batteries are dead!

OK - next plan - once I can see and breath - I still need tea ... I know - toasted cheese sandwich - as I clipped that close the clip broke!

Who said cooking was easy ...

And - Who still wonders where my user-name comes from!!
