Day 13 - Three Confessions Of Your Choice

Hard to think .... I am pretty open so I am sure most people know most things about me ... Anyway, here goes -

  • I love chewy sweets - toffees, fruit flavour sweets, pastels, etc

  • One job I do love is mowing the lawn, another is ironing ... 2 things many people don't like

  • I have never been on a date, at all.

Well there you are, three things.

Screenshot Your Desktop

Well, as I said in my last post, which yes I know I still have to reply to (I am meant to be sorting books instead of here!!!), I now have new Windows, so am finding my way round.  I have set my desktop to shuffle my pictures, and as it is only this last 18 months I will have to download some James pics from my cloud to liven it up!!  So, the first shot is -
Jiffy, of course )

Oh well, those books won't sort themselves. I will return later, to reply to people before you all ignore me and to post some photos, after all it is Friday.

See you soon xx
debris4spike: (Hardest thing - live in the world)
What Is Your Favourite Quote

Hard to decide, as for me it depends on why I need it.  However here are a few -

  • Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, You are with me.  Psalm 23 v 4

  • The hardest thing in this world is to live in it. Buffy

  • I'm going to live forever, or die trying.  Vila (Blakes 7)

  • Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there. From "What a friend we have in Jesus"

I am sure that as I post this I will remember loads of others, but my brain feels extra fuzzy at present.
debris4spike: (Tongue!)
If you could live off one food and one beverage for the rest of your days, what would they be?

FOOD

I think it would be roast chicken (preferably leg), chips (fries) or roast potatoes and  garden peas.

However I adore raw tomatoes, and in fact when I was 19 and very ill with measles I actually did live on them for a week - it was the only food I ate.

Fruit would definately be pineapple.

DRINK

Hard - I love cold tap water, but some places don't taste as nice as others, so maybe I had better say squash.  There is one I love, which is actually a cheepo brand, but I find it better than most.

However how can I lose a cup of strong tea?  ... so can I cheat and have both, please.
debris4spike: (No time)
At long last I am going to get back to that first 30 day meme, especially as there is now a second one to do!

Pet Peeves

  • Sulking

  • Two-faced people

  • Lateness

  • Snobbery

  • Bad manners

  • Large social get togethers - so many people smiling, yet most wishing they were elsewhere.

I am sure there are loads more, but they are the ones that top the list.

Three Things You Want To Say To Different People

This is the one tha I have seen many struggle with, and even without my hectic life I have been putting off answering it!!!  Oh well, here goes -

  1. One thing I am glad I did say, on a regular basis was, "I LOVE YOU" to Mum ... and I still say it to Dad.  I often say it to by brothers, as well, but will admit I don't often say it to my 4 nephews.  We are meeting up next week to move Dad's piano (etc), so I must say it to the 4 of them, then.

  2. There are a couple of people I pray for regularily, for their health and happiness.  But have never told either of them ... maybe I should (one especially knows how mad I already am!!)

  3. I suppose, overall, I wish I could speak to people who mean something to me.  I can chat to strangers, chat at work, but friends and family (and James) make me totally freeze ... so much so "hello" is all I manage.  I need to break through that incredible shyness ... but sadly doubt I ever will!

Yay, I managed it!
debris4spike: (Kindle Readers (7 & the doctor))
I really have been missing, haven't I?

I actually worked half days over this last week, but found it pretty exhausting, so have rested quite a bit.

I am also trying to empty all my lounge display cabinets and cupboards as they are going to charity on Wednesday and I am having Mum & Dad's here instead ... lighter colour, and better quality.  So with stuff coming from M&D's as well, I am literally "knee-deap" in boxes of things, mostly china, glass or books.  Jiffy and I have had to learn hopscotch!

Still will try to get back to LJ - for one thing I owe loads of replies ... I may sit and do some on my tablet while I wait for the Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race to start.  (Go, Cambridge!!)

Day 7 - Do You Read?  What Are Your Favourite Books?

  1. I love reading the Bible, both in modern versions and in the traditional King James version.  I have loads of Bibles, both old ones of the family, plus mine that have been used, or are being used.

  2. I love my Spuffy fan-fic.  Yes, I am one of those who never read the comics, and believe that Buffy and Spike ended up "living happily ever after"!!  I do like a what-if story from the actual series especially.

  3. I love the Harry Dresden series by Jim Butcher.  A good friend sent me the first book on CD as it is read by James.  Yes, I adore listening to him read them, but do love the series.

  4. I love a "Regency Romance" sort of book ... and have found a great site that gives me free Kindle books!  Mum has a set of Georgette Hayer, so they will be slowly worked through.

  5. I do love the Anne of Green Gables series, and a few other random books of that generation.

  6. I do love my history/travel books, and have loads, and more coming as Dad loves them as well.  He has some with him, and I shall be able to swap around to keep us both happy!

So, the answer is, yes, I do read!!
debris4spike: (James - Rock On!)
What Band or Musician is Important to you?

I was born in 1961, so as a kid the radio was on - The Beatles, The Seekers, The Monkees, The Beach Boys .... and I still do like their stuff.  Weirdly, having no friends at school (due to bullying) I was isolated, so much of the 70's music passed me by then, but I do like it now ... The Rolling Stones being my favourite of the bunch.  From then on nothing!

I also love music of the 20's, singers like Frank Sinatra; and classical music, especially Beethoven.

HOWEVER

As my longer term f-list will know, there is only one singer I have heard live, and one band gig I have ever been to.

James Marsters, and Ghost of the Robot (although James was not there as he was filming).  I will admit that I loved the atmosphere of GotR, but if I had to pick just one event, it would be James by himself (not that I don't like Charlie, Sullivan, etc), but I like how he relates to his audience while performing.

So, yes please - more James Marsters!!!

Five Places You Want To Visit

As I have read on other lists, it is hard to decide where to visit ... whether it's for a day, or a month, plays a big part in that choice, I suppose.  Anyway - here goes:-

  1. Italy - I have been to Italy a few times as a teen/20+ with the family back in the early 80's, but I would love to return.  I would like to go back to the places I went to last time - Venice, Rome, Sorrento, Pompei & Vesuvious, Pisa; but this time also see Monte Casino, Florence, etc, etc.  So I suppose I need a rich guy, and a couple of months.  Or, maybe I can get to see these places one at a time.

  2. The States - again, I would like to go back to some of the places I saw before - New York, Washington, Niagra, Williamsburg; but this time I would also like to see Boston, and the S.W. ... Los Angeles, San Fransisco, Las Vegas, etc.

  3. Scotland - I would love to see more of England, but do that whenever I can, however I really would like to see Scotland - to visit Edinburg, to go to John o Groats, to see the Loch Ness Monster, etc

  4. I would love to see Disney (the Florida one), so I could see all the parks as well.

  5. I need a helicopter (that rich guy again), as I would love to see assorted places in assorted countires.  So would need to hop around the world .... Christ Redeemer Statue, Machu Pichu, Pyramids, a Thai Temple, Ayers Rock, Blaney Castle, the Taj Mahal, etc

So, as you see I need a rich guy, a camera plus some spare memory discs, and loads of time, and I will be sorted!!!

Day 3 - My Day In Detail

Is it worth scribbling much. I sometimes do "the 12th" meme, so you get specific details then. However at present I am off work sick, so most of the day I am resting, I take Jiffy for a walk, see Dad, and more resting.

So not really worth writing about!

Day 4 - My Name

Debris4spike

Debris = I am accident prone ++++ (some of you will have seen me all but fall off the stage at a James event in Cardiff. Nothing unusual. The orchestra I was a member of were used to asking where the bandages were this week! The conductor gave me the nickname, as a derivative of Deborah (my real name)
4Spike = It is Spike that brought me to the fandom.
debris4spike: (Spike - two faces)
So, I actually have posted this on the appropriate day ... immediately after the last one.  SHOCK.

I wanted to be more focussed, and looking at my great f-list, as well as actually feeling a bit healthier today, so all in all it looks really positive.

As I said when I found this meme I would be doing it, although maybe not each day. However the following day [livejournal.com profile] teragramm started to "wake up" LJ, and so I am now using it to do an intro to those who don't me.

So for those who know me, you needn't read and get bored!

It's me, me, me )

I am aiming to get back to LJ more, as over the last couple of years I have had to be more absent than I used to be. At least this LJ-push has really pushed me as well.

30 Day Challenge Meme

I don't have time to start this today, but will do this off and on over the next few days/weeks.  I snagged it Tumblr, via PinInterest.  I don't do Tumblr, but do occaisionally scan through Pin.

I do hope others snag and use, as LJ has been so much quieter recently.
