Yes, his back was injured, but also healing.  I am sure over the years he has had worse problems and not bothered contacting me.  However it was lovely to see him ... until we started chatting ...  It turns out their neighbours who, until now, have been good friends, have put in for a super large extension.  It would take light out of their study, kitchen & utility room ... and leave them with a view of a wall in doing that.  So they were both very upset, and angry over what was happening.  About 3/4 hur later Claire arrived and we talked a lot more.  Claire & I then went and got chicken & chips for us all (my first time of that meal since Jiffy crossed Rainbow Bridge ... it used to be our regular Saturday tea).  So I opened wine, and Tim had beer ... and we had a good evening.

So, all in all, whether I was able to help Tim much or not, it was good to see them and let them let off steam.

Just got in from work this morning ... a good shift, although very cold this morning.  I now have furry slippers on and waiting for the toes to thaw,

I want to get some icons done, as I didn't get many done yesterday with the emrgency house-clean I had to do yesterday.  As ever - (and how did I miss a day??)

7 – World Ballet Day: Have you ever been to a ballet performance? If not, is this something that might interest you? Have you ever had ballet lessons?
1979 - 1983 I was at college in central London. A group of us went once a year for the 4 years.
But, no, I am a fairly elephant when it comes to my feet

8 – World Opera Day: Are you an opera buff?
I know a lot of the music, as I played in a "serious" classical orchestra for years.
I have only been to one, a Mozart one, but it was with friends and was done in a modern re-think ... so although I like some of the music, I truly hated the performance

And, yes, I really will catch up with you later x

A Super Day Out

Yesterday Christine and I went on a day trip ... Berry Pomeroy Castle, a Tudor mansion within the walls of an earlier castle, is near the village of Berry Pomeroy, in South Devon, England. It was built in the late 15th century by the Pomeroy family which had held the land since the 11th century. By 1547 the family was in financial difficulties and sold the lands to Edward Seymour, 1st Duke of Somerset. Apart from a short period of forfeit to the Crown after Edward's execution, the castle has remained in the Seymour family ever since, although it was abandoned in the late 17th century when the fourth baronet moved to Wiltshire (Thanks Wikepedia)

We had a self-guided audio guide, and spent a n amazing hour and a half walking around the extensive ruins, re-hearing of the history of the Seymour family, Henry VIII, Edward VI, etc as well as learning about a couple of ghosts

Wouldn't it have been lovely to have seen it when it was lived in )>

However what with work, and a day out I am behind again (as I am with my replying!) ...

25 Would you rather be a scarecrow or a scared crow?
A scarecrow ... that way I am being "paid" to be nosy! Anyway, I am not great at flying!

26 What's the most un-breakfasty food you've ever had for breakfast?
Chips!
When I was in my mid 20's we broke down coming back from Spain so ennded up being 3 days for our ferry.  Our insurance got us on the next one (a 7.30am crossing), and they were still serving chips (at request), so Mum & I had some!

27 If you had to have a tail, would you prefer one like a rabbit, a monkey or a donkey?
Monkey - I am always running up & down staires more than once as I had too much to carry ... this way I could buy a basket, and fill it, thus saving myself the extra trip

oh well - hope your weekend is going well.  I have had a busy morning doing cleaning, and washing ... now I am going to have a bit of me-time ... although it will probably mean I will end up writing some more of my holiday journal.
debris4spike: (Tempt me!)
I hate it when I get an open question like this!

So - I decided that if I removed the word "tickles" then I would have "Whatever your fancy" ... as it is a whatever, not a "whoever" I am going to just share this picture -

Photobucket

Chips - covered in salt and vinegar - I can eat them at any hour of the day (or night). And if I have a choice they have to be chip-shop chips ... you just can't better them.

Now looking at that picture has made me feel really hungry!
