No News Friday

And, so we get to the end of the week.

I managed to get a few bits finished yesterday, but the kitchen cabinets are still glaring at me. Well, let's remember the Gone With The Wind Quote -

I have a few things I also want to sort out today, so let's see how much of that I get done.

And, no real suprise, we now have a change of Government.  Whatever my/our politcs I think it was expected.  Hopefully (again whatever your politics) lets hope the shake-up will be good for the country.  After all, that is all any of us want, isn't it?

I spoke to Brenda yesterday and was pleased to hear that one of the 2 nephews who live at home still had voted, so good to know some in their 20's were willing to take the time to make their mark.  Although, sadly, I also learnt that his partner had just been made redundant, due to down-sizing of the company ... and, bizarrely, the other nephew who lives at home was also made redundant on the same day, for the same reason.  The good news that neither of them were individual losses, so it obviously wasn't anything to do with their work abilities, or not.

Well, having said there was "no news" maybe I should change the title ... I found a couple of things to write about after al.  Som before I confuse myself even further ...

5. In 1841 Thomas Cook opened its first travel agency - do you use a travel agency to book a trip, or do you organise everything online yourself?
I use one or two for my main holidays ... I travel on Battlefield tours, with the same company .... but when I go to London I sort that out myself.

Right, let's get on with the day x

Yes, I have voted. We had a choice of 7 candidates in our constituency, including the fact that our MP has, after many years, decided to stand down. I would presume their party will get back in, but interesting to see how the 2 (yes, 2) Independent candidates fair.

I decided that I would go a slightly longer way round ... and lovely to see some of the beautiful creation that this world has -

Now I want to get my last icon made, and the set posted for the latest collection. So, before I go and do that ...

4. Bill Withers who wrote 'Ain't no sunshine' was born today. Is it a sunny day where you live?
At present ... but it is also a bit cloudy.

Right, let's get the last icon made ... will post soon.

......... Yes, we have local elections today. Over the last few weeks I have received 3 sheets of information through the door. However, all of them are for the same person, who I was going to vote for anyway. So, I had to vote just to see who else was standing!!! There were 8 candidates and I could vote for 2 people, so all in all it was not the best way to choose a vote, if you didn't actually know your decision already.

Clinic went well - except for one patient who questioned anything & everything. However one of his opening answers gave me some idea of what we were up against. They are all sent a 3 day "liquid" dieary sheet, and I asked him if he had brought it with him ... his answer was that he hadn't realised we were expecting him to fill it in!

Now I have things to potter through before doing some icons.

I won't be around tomorrow as I am working in the morning and have a dentist appointment in the afternoon (and it isn't local to me so have to drive there immediately after work to get there in time)

But before I post this -

5. Do you always have to have the latest phone?
NO - just a basic model

6. What is something you are obsessed with?

I have some things that I love and do as often as possible ... travel, sight-seeing, etc.
But I suppose that the only thing I won't drop or change is my faith.

Right that's me

I Voted

In fact, I got to vote twice ... as there are local Council elections, as well as European Elections.

I hope those who could also wandered down to the Polling Station.  It doesn't matter if I agree with who you chose ... I just want to know you didn't waste that vote.

We are lucky over here.

Yes, whoever I vote for is almost not as important as the fact I will be voting!

Over the last years I have watched TV coverage of countries where people queue for days to vote, travel miles ... and in the end the vote is probably rigged.

Yet many in Britain won't bother walking down to their local Church hall, school (wherever) to cast a vote.

But I'm pleased to know I can have my say, however small, in what happens to my country ... so now I'm off to place a cross on a sheet of paper ... and wait till tomorrow to see what the rest of the country did.

Although I am not an American, I seem to have been watching what has been happening over the last few months - Thank you USA f-list, for keeping me up to date.

I do hope and pray that whoever you pick will do the best job for both your Country and the World.

But - the important thing is - Vote!

We take that for granted in the western world - yet it is an amazing privilege that we have to be able to do this.

Anyway - onto a MEME that I snagged from [livejournal.com profile] pfeifferpack

1. Stop talking about politics for a moment or two.

2. Post a reasonably-sized picture in your LJ, NOT under a cut tag, of something pleasant, such as an adorable kitten, or a fluffy white cloud, or a bottle of booze. Something that has NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS.

3. Include these instructions, and share the love.

Hope that you all, whatever country you are in, have a lovely day.
