Way back some weeks ago I asked a couple of friends to challenge me in the 5 Question Meme that they did ... and I haven't got round to answering them.

So the first set were from [livejournal.com profile] kudagirl .... and she asked me -

1. We both love James, but what other actor living or dead would you love to sit and talk to over a good cuppa?

2. If you had not worked in the medical or music field, what other career would you have enjoyed?

3. I know you have travel quite a bit over the years, what area would you love to visit given the time and money?

4. If you could have lived in another era, would it be the past or the future and why?

5. How do you think your life would be different if you had been born male instead of female?

If you want to see what I ramble about ...
1. We both love James, but what other actor living or dead would you love to sit and talk to over a good cuppa?

Cary Grant - no question about it. He was a great actor - one who loved doing his own stunts (as he was an acrobat). Many of the best films he did showed him as a romanic lead, but often his greatest skill was just in a "look". I would love to know if he was left handed, or ambi-dextrous; would love to know if he found learning lines easy and by chatting to him would see if he was as relaxed as he appeared in many of his films.

(My second choice would be Danny Kaye)

2. If you had not worked in the medical or music field, what other career would you have enjoyed?

I did enjoy my work in retail (although that was only part-time when I was at college). But I think I would have enjoyed being a tour guide of some sort ... especially a large cruise company or something, so lots of sights to see, and history to explore.

3. I know you have travel quite a bit over the years, what area would you love to visit given the time and money?

The States (I have friends there, you know!!!!!). No, seriously I would like to spend time visiting USA, to se you, and other friends, but also the history of the country.

Less time and money would be Scotland.

4. If you could have lived in another era, would it be the past or the future and why?

I love history - Regency England ... but I would like to have been rich! So, I suppose I should say Future ... mainly as I am a wimp about health (even before I started working at a hospital!) ... I think that the future would be, in some ways, more boring, but for health, hygiene, etc it would be safer!

5. How do you think your life would be different if you had been born male instead of female?

Maybe I wouldn't have been bullied (although I don't know about that!) ... but I suppose I may have been more independant of M&D, so hard to say what I would be doing now. I would probably have still been an osteopath (as Nick went to medical school and mum's history of bad injuries had happened), but probably would have been married.

Well, there we are ... ramble over!

BTW, I am back on antibiotics for the tooth and have to go back to my dentist. The GP I saw was stunned at the size of the hole still ... 11 days, and counting, since the extraction! ... Watch this space ("groan")

Thanks for the answers.

I love Cary Grant as well. I think we might only know surface things about him. He hid a great deal from the public I believe. He had a very unhappy childhood. Yes, Danny Kaye was a joy as well.

Medicine has changed even in our life time. I wouldn't like living the a past era just because of that. I want to look forward and see what is next so future it would be for me as well.

Even boys are bullied so I don't know if that would have been different. My family seemed to think males where not to be expected to stay close and do for the family as a female was. It was expected of me to do for my family while my brother was never to be bothered. I just accepted it till I was married and my husband questioned it. Then later on Robert ask why as well. That finally got me to begin saying no sometimes. My life and time was just as important as anyone else's. I began living my life for me in my late fifties. Better late than never. LOL!

Please be careful with your site of your tooth. It's so easy for infection to set in and travel through your body. It happened to Robert and he ended up in intensive care. It was very scary.

Oddly, I agree with both Cary Grant and Danny Kaye as numbers 1 and 2. I really don't think I'd want to meet James Marsters, since my attachment is to Spike, and he's unavailable in the flesh. No substitutes accepted. With Grant and Kaye, it was their body of work and not any one characterization that drew me. Does that sound too odd? And might I add, "The pellet with the poison's in the vessel with the pestle, but the flagon with the dragon has the brew that is true!" I adored Mildred Natwick!

I fell in love with Spike as well, but it's James that keeps me following him and his career. When I first met James, he was so animated all the time. He would have wore me out quickly. Since he has married, he has settled down quite a bit. Not so manic anymore. He is a wonderful person so full of life and ideas. He does love his fans so very much. Not stuffy with them at all. He really takes time to talk with you if you can get a few words out when meeting him.

Yes, I agree. James and Cary both act with their facial expressions. You can see the emotions cross their faces so easily. All three can do comedy and drama easily. They are not one trick ponies and go deeply into character with each role.

I have never been so terrified as I was when Robert went into shock and his kidneys began to fail. All from a small cut the dentist did during dental work. Robert was spent five days in intensive care. Please take care of yourself.
