Just Playing Catch-Up!

I am going to be posting in a random order today - so thought I had better start wioth that warning.

Yes, I know I was MIA yesterday - not even a photo, and in fact the one I took won't be up till later as I am typing this in Plympton.

Wednesday was great - more about that in a separate post!

Yesterday was manic  ......


I started the day by going to see my osteopath - something I had been needing to do for months - the stress of last year, the chest infection of this year (and last year), my occupation, my hobbies ... and my general thoughts of the future, are not good for general problems, let alone the multiples of old injuries I deal with - LOL

So, I came home and went back to bed - with Jiffy as a teddy bear ... so not 100% bad news!!!

Then just before lunch, I had a dental check-up ... No problems, well, that was until she examined me - 4 fillings!!!!!  2 in one front  tooth, and my remaining baby tooth needs looking at, as well!!!

So, back home for lunch - cheesed off!

After lunch, Mum had a lie down, which is unusual, and then admitted, she couldn't see out of her eye ... so eventually I managed to persuade her to go to Casualty.  To cut a long story short - she has damaged her cornea, nothing serious, but because she refused to admit when the pain started, she got into a worse state.

She is the most impatient person I know.  She got to see a consultant under 4 hours after addiving, but stll complained how slow things were - and threatened on many occasions to go home.  So, partly sitting on her, I kept her there - she now has cream and drops, and a check-up booked for a week.

Needless to say, by the time I got home again, I was well and truly frazzled - no time for LJ - just time have tea and to play with Jiffy and have an early night!

So - I will slowly catch up as the day progresses - Very little work to do - great to catch up - bad for the bank balance, though!

I'm glad that you were able to be there for your mother and that it wasn't too serious. She sounds like the kind of person who can't sit still for long and has to be busy doing something.

Yes - I think that was part of the problem - she had left some sewing to go to hospital ... the fact she couldn't have seen what she was doing didn't register with her!

Glad you got your mom to finally get it checked out! Did her vision improve after the cream and drops at all?

Also, yucko, fillings stink. :\

Yes, she said by the time she was going to bed, she was feeling a bit easier - I shall have to find out later how it's going.

Grrr - fillings - still, I have had a year without any!

Yes - weird day - still the specialist was very through - so good to know that it appears to be treatable.

Sounds like you had a very stressful day. Too much time spent in doctor's offices. That can tire you out all by itself. My mom had eye problems when she was your mom's age. My mom was not as active as yours. We spent a lot of time at doctors. She had doctors in five different towns. Since she didn't drive I spent a great deal of my time in waiting rooms. Glad your mom is doing better.

Thanks - It would have been easier if Mum had just accepted that we would have to wait "a few minutes" - I tried pointing out (gently) that we are lucky with our health service - but that didn't get me anywhere - LOL

Still, overall it was good news, so hope she now uses the drops and cream as prescribed!

Spooky - I seem to not only have developed a telepathic connection to my own mother but also to yours as well - I was only wondering on my drive into work today how her eye was doing (I've been so MIA lately I don't know half what's going on in people's lives).

Glad you were there to get her to the hospital and make her stay there, and I hope the cream and drops do the trick and repair the damage quickly.

And *ouch* for you too, all those fillings.

Yes - I think it was the fact that she has the op there at Easter that made me persuade her to go in the first place! Basically she is doing well - Thanks.

Yes, fillings - trouble is I had loads as a teen, and they eventually loosen and need further treatment - Won't be happy come August!

Crikey! That was a day and a half. Glad that your mum is going to be okay. I hate going to the dentist - I had to go on Wednesday - luckily I got the all clear.

Hope you're feelng more relaxed now.

Yes, a relaxing day on my birthday - and then ended up frazzled! Oh well, at leats I got the lot over and done with together!

LOL - as I laft the hospital last night with Mum, I phoned Dad and said "put the kettle on"!!! - Oh, the wonders of mobile phones - and the miracle of a cuppa!

Having had a lazy day the day before, i suppose it made up for it!!!

Still, glad I could get her to go - and she is doing OK.
