Brixham - WWII

As the town faces the south ... and Torbay is an area that is safe for shipping, there were large gun emplacements added.

The harbour was also one of the area used for loading men onto the landing crafts, before taking them to the boats and thus to Normandy in 1944.

Yesterday I posted pictures of my trip onto The Golden Hind And today there are some pictures of the town of Brixham itself.

It was great to spend the day there - and lovely that even though it had rained while we were travelling there, the sun came out for most of our trip.

Enjoy your trip into one of South Devon's towns -

I have been out for the day today - and took lots of photos so have split the post so as not to SPAM you tooooooo badly. I went with a friend from Church to Brixham ... about 3/4 hour on the bus from Mum and Dads. While there we went on the rpilica of The Golden Hind

I can't believe that there were over 70 people on this vessel for 3 years!
