Back in 1986 Tim & I went to a service at St Paul's Cathedral to celebrate the 450th anniversary of our school. As Nick wasn't able to go, we were able to sit under the dome, as we had 2 ex-students with 20 years of attendance. I do remember one of the questions was ... where will you be at the 500th?

Anyway, St Paul's was one of the places I visited when I was in London ... here is a small sample of that amazing Church, which is stunning, but also very much a working Church.

As I went on a free guided tour I got to see a couple of places that are normally closed - so well worth doing if you ever get a chance to visit.

I loved St Paul's Cathedral when I was in London. I especially liked the American Memorial Chapel.

I remember being so surprised to see it. It was like, "Oh, you remembered us!" Because we're always late to the party. I thought it was very nice of Britain to recognize us like that.

I worked at a school which took everybody from 6 to 18 to St Paul's in 1986 to celebrate 275 years. It was hard work, but worth it. My last school hit 450 while I was there, but our service was in Coventry Cathedral, not nearly so glamorous.

ETA: The photos are lovely. My favourite thing in there, though, is John Donne's memorial, which he insisted on posing for while still alive but very sick, and which miraculously survived the Great Fire.

That's him. I'm a bit of a nut for his poems, I confess.

Always enjoy your photos. Since I'll never get to visit in person, your lovely work makes me feel like I've been there!
