6 Months

Yes, it was 6 month from thr time I took off my nursing uniform, until the time I put it on again this morning.

Same clinic as in the past, but so, so many changes with social distancing, PPE, etc, etc.  One terrible thing is we have to wear a mask, all the time.  Technically we can't remove our mask for a slurp of water, but as I saw our Charge Nurse having a drink, I decided that if it's good enough for him, it's good enough for me!!  So, yes, I had a quick slurp!

I am doing 5 mornings a week until the end of July, and then will see what is happening ,,, however I don't want to lose my 3 day weekend long term.  But afetr 6 months of no money (I am on a zero hour contract, so don't get statutaory sick pay ... just a basic allowance) it is good to both be working, as well as earning some money.  Stress wise I won't be doing any admin stuff for a time, so it will mean I rest in an afternoon.  I am also happier doing shorter shifts as it means Jiffy will only be jeft for 4 hours - so I am happier about that.

It's weird how shops are still missing things ... went to get a load from a large Tescos earlier this afternoon ... at least they had flour, but why is dessicated coconut still missing.  Some very random items seem to be popular!

I hope that you are all keeping well, and safe
xx

Are you feeling anxious at all? My wife, a nurse of 30+ years, was transferred from drugs research to A&E for 10 weeks -- now back in the office. She was very anxious to begin with but really enjoyed it after a while. It's not good though. My thoughts are with you. Ju

Good morning [livejournal.com profile] debris4spike.

Thanks for your kind comment.

The UK government seems to be moving apace to put CV19 behind us, even though we still have people dying from the disease and there's no known cure. Still, we've got to take a leap of faith at some stage, as otherwise there will be nothing left of the so-called economy.

Take care.

Ju

Since I work with the public, I have to wear a mask and gloves. We have drive up orders. So I have to wear an orange vest with reflective strips so drivers can see me. I have to take a cart of merchandise into the parking lot. Yes, people do ignore the stop signs in the walkway to the parking lot. I had a few close calls. People are backing up and don't bother to see if anyone is behind them. Add to that, it's very hot right now in TX. My glasses fog up no matter what I do to them. We can only take the masks off in our break room where customers don't see us. By the end of my shift I'm dead tired. I don't know how nurses and doctors deal with wearing PPE all the time.

I am so glad that you are now well enough to go back - and also quietly relieved that you weren't well enough during the worst of times.

I'm so glad you're better! Now that you've been back to work for a week, how are you feeling? Does it make you nervous to be out and mingling with people?
