I Am Truly Upset
Friday, September 8th, 2017 05:04 pmIn England we are so lucky to have the NHS.
I work for the NHS - and love it.
However people are always complaining about it - especially the waiting lists.
Well, a colleague of mine's husband found out last month he needed a heart proceedure. He was told it could be a year before he got his appointment, but as they said they could take a cancellation they were lucky and Freddie had his proceedure yesterday ... Yay (and all went well).
HOWEVER, when they got there just before 8 am they were the only ones there ... there were 5 slots. About 20 mins late one of the others turned up, but the others never did.
So all these people who complain should see this, and the fact that 75% of the clinics I work in have at least one non-attending. Routinely they are offered another appointment, and thus more money, more delay in waiting lists .
I don't often get political, but was just so annoyed about these other 3 missing people.

Date: 2017-09-20 07:01 am (UTC)Here, they charge you if you don't show up, so we pay whether we're seen or not. However, you are lucky to have the NHS. We are doubly insured, which is quite costly, plus I pay for my doctor separately, as she does not accept insurance. Still, I have a co-pay, so more money out of my pocket every time I'm seen for anything at any clinic.

I have NHS dentist but I still have to pay towards treatment, however much cheaper ... so the theory is that the equipment used is poor quality. Again we pay an amount for our opticians check-up .... However with all these, if you are receiving unemployment benefit then these are free.
