100 Meme - Film #9

The first book I ever read without stopping (well, only to go to scvhool) ..3 nights sleepless nights!

Gone With The Wind  was a book that was filmed and won 10 oscars in doing so.

Everyone has heard about it, full of big name stars, memorable music and a time in history that is no more. A story of adversity, war and love. A film that has a sad ending, yet I for one hope that they do get back together.

Having written this and watched the above trailer I must now dig the film out and watch it again (complete with tissues, of course.)

There actually is a sequel to GWtW, written, I think, by one of her relatives? Don't remember now, but you should be able to find it somewhere (Amazon?) I also don't remember how it ends, although I do remember she lives in Ireland for a while. It's possible I didn't finish it.

Yes, I "struggled" through the sequal. It is OK, but not as memorable, as I can't remember how it ended, even though I know I finished it.

I think, in many ways, the angsty end of GWTW makes the film that much more special.

*nods* Yeah, I think I bailed on it partway through. It was just too much an ordinary "romance" novel to keep my interest.

Oh I really like that movie, have only seen it twice, I particularly love the angsty ending :D

It is just so brilliant, and that ending was (sadly) necessary to make it a film-of-win!

Years ago I saw GWtW in the theater (on one of its may theater runs) It was spectacular on the big screen, so much so that I can't bear to watch on a television.

Great movie, with another great ending line.

Yes, I first saw it on the big screen and it's never quite the same on your TV, is it? However I think this film works - there is so much going for it.

I love GWTW as well. Irish said he got tired of it as a boy because it was his mother's favorite movie and any time it returned to the theater she dragged him along to watch it. Not really a boy movie! I got to see it once in an old theater, the kind with a huge screen. It's magnificent on a big screen.

On a big screen it is truly amazing, isn't it.

Yes there is a lot going for it, but not all boys cope with that much emotion and story. Sorry Irish, but it's a great film!
