I may have mentioned in the past that Mum had Bell's Palsey in 2004, just after we lost our Spaniel, Misty.  Well, sadly things never really cleared up 100% and then about 2 years ago her face started getting worse.

She has seen various docs and last year, at long last, saw a doctor who actually realised what a struggle she has with her vision - Having lost most of her sight in the other eye a few years ago.

He tried some injections, which worked for a few weeks, so we were hopeful that a treatment had been found - but the doctor said it would be better if he operated to removed fat and skin from around the eyes (has to be both sides to match), and also to raise her eye-brow.

She hasn't a date at present, as she only heard yesterday ... but thought I would scribble this here, so if I start to panic about her, you know why.

Wow. Good luck to her with those treatments. I'll keep her in my prayers. :)

Hopefully this procedure will help your mom. My mom had tube put into her ears at 80. She had problems hearing and with balance. It did help. Seems there was fluid behind her eardrum. She told me that my voice sounded like I had been breathing in helium before the tubes were put in. It helped her enjoy tv and things again. AT 82 she had cataract surgery. She never gave up and was feisty till she passed away.

Good luck to her, I shall keep her in my prayers. If you don't wanna say on here and if it is okay, can you send me her name so I can add her to our Church prayer list please?

I'm sure it will be fine, and she'll look amazing after it's all healed (it'll probably look fairly bruised straight after the surgery!).

::gasp:: Oh, no! Bell's Palsey... Been there, done that. Wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy! Needless to say, I really hope the operation helps your mum. I will be thinking about her.

Oh dear - but if it is going to make her sight better I guess it's a good thing.

Bell's Palsey? Is that the illness that has to do with temporary weakness or paralysis of the muscles on one side of the face? I'll tried to google it to understand it better. They said good nutrition and rest will help your body. That doesn't sound wrong.

*fingers crossed* sounds as if the doctor knows what to do. I hope it will turn out very helpful.
*hugs*

Oh, your poor mum. I'm sorry the injections didn't work, the thought of surgery isn't nice at any age. I hope this does the trick though.

*hugs you both*
