Just Catching Up!

No - I didn't make it out of Bude today! 

The town itself is clear, but drive a couple of miles up the road and it was snow, a few miles further and it was deeper snow and un-treated roads.

I could neither get to work, nor Mum and Dads as between here and there are a strip of Moors ... and snow and even the main roads were blocked.

So I had a lazy morning and am now trying to get some jobs done.  Later this evening we actually have an orchestral rehearsal which I will be attending, and seeing how much I can play.  Tomorrow, there is (weather permitting) another clarinetist coming to play for the concert.  The plan had been that I would be at the rehearsal, as the other player is coming in cold, and then I would go to Mum and Dads for the rest of the day and Sunday.  However as the weather is bd in the midle of the county, with ice forecast, I am seriously thinking of staying here.

This is where I meet a snag though - my Mum is always so, so upset if I don't make it home - parental guilt is sometjing that she is great at!

So, I shall have to see how she is when when we speak later.

As to health - yes, the last lot of blood tests were (yet again) clear.  I asked the doctor about allergy testing, but he says that it is very unlikely as all my blood levels are so, so normal.  Whatever it is is long-term and if it were an allergy then there would be some change in the latest figures. 

So, he is sneding me to a chest specialist - ASAP.

I really can't breathe still, and my voice comes and goes.  Sadly I am also finding walking harder, but am still able to work!

Oh well - as he said, there is nothing serious!!!

How frustrating for a doctor to say nothing is wrong and you know there is something going on. There is no guilt like the guilt a mother can cause. I try so hard not the do the guilt trip thing when it comes to my sons. My mom was so good at it. She only had to look at me in a certain way and I knew I had disappointed her. Hope you can figure out what is going on and a way to get better.

I have now spoken to Mum and she is "OK" about me not travelling!!

No matter how guilty your mum makes you feel, if the roads aren't safe don't go and see them. She'd feel awful if you had an accident.

Glad you're still able to work, but if walking and talking are getting more difficult I'm glad you're seeing a chest specialist soon.

I hope whatever it is goes away and lets you catch your breath again. And is it possible to get a second opinion re: the allergies? I don't know what he means by saying it's nothing serious. In my book, having trouble breathing is very serious.

Moms are very good at parental guilt. I think it comes with the hormones after delivery. :P I'm sure though if you explain to her the road conditions, she'll be happy for you to stay put this weekend. She sounds like an eminently (imminently?) sensible woman from your posts about her. :)

I had similar about 15 years ago which turned out to be viral pneumonia! ... So long as I don't get worse then I shall wait to see what the specialist says.

Is there any possibility that the chest thing is scarring due to an old infection?

Thanks Deb - I think Mum is "OK" (ish!) But that is something I have to learn to balance - and I am getting there!

Mmmm - good idea about the scarring - I have had viral pneumonia in the past - and 2 major infections in the last 2 years. There is no scarring on the X-ray, but hard to say at a cellular level. Thanks for that thought.
