Some Personal Photos To Share.
Thursday, September 25th, 2008 08:37 amWhen I asked you all for ideas about what I should take photographs of a couple of you asked for some pictures that are more about "me" than the camera" ...
enigmaticblues and
kudagirl to be specific.
So, under the cut are a few things about me ... and the proof that "The Stork Brought Me" ... none of these weird stories about mummies and daddies having a cuddle, please!!
Yes, here is the model of the stork as I arrived back in '61. My parents were able to get the model in time to have it placed on the cake that they had at my Thanksgiving Service.

We have had poor weather this year, but were able to get a few roses. This one is actaully in my garden - and was from a riding friend of mine, Sue, when my Jaykub died. She told me at the time, he was my golden boy.

This is in Mum and Dads garden - and is a scented rose. But, it was dug out of my Grandmothers garden as a gift to Mum and Dad when they married ... in 1952 .... so has now lived in Northamptonshire, Essex, Flintshire, essex, Cornwall and now Devon!

This is my front door!
But - it is also where I sit for some time every morning - in a snuggly dressing gown, with my back against the radiator, while I read my Bible and pray. In fact that is the Bible I am reading this year on the side of the bookcase (which, by the way Dad made for me when I was 11)

My typical house - ornaments everywhere, as is shown on part of another bookcase. This also shows (lying on its side) dad's book; but also a picture of Jaykub, a gift form a friend, a souveneir of a holiday ... the list goes on!

My favourite sweets - Toffee Bon-Bons! There are always some on my coffee table - don't tell my dentist!

Charlie - the only man who shares my bedroom - and has since I started college in 1979 - yes, he is on my bedside table!

Part of my giraffe collection - this is half way up my staires. I have always loved them and Mum and Dad bought me this table a few years ago. The picture on the top is of our family at my youngest brothers wedding in 1990.

So, now you know a bit more about me!!
Hope you enjoyed some more of the madness that is
debris4spike If you ever want to see something specific, you only have to ask, btw.

Date: 2008-09-25 12:13 pm (UTC)Yes, books - both reference and stories - just so great to have around. My youngest brother is very "minimal" - no books, no ornaments ... no nothing ... and no personality.
Glad you enjoyed a corner of my world.

Date: 2008-09-25 11:04 am (UTC)BTW, I noticed the heating element by your door. When I was in UK in '78, I though that no houses had central heating!

Date: 2008-09-25 12:17 pm (UTC)Most houses have radiators around now - although older houses it is hard to get ones that fit in with the building ... and some houses (eg those made of cob or whattle and daub) can't have the heating as the walls have to actually stay slightly damp to maintain them ... so maybe that was the type of property you stayed in. The Cotswol cottages are stone - and again all but impossible to add heating systems to.
But, I am OK - although with the price of oil it won't be on too much!

no subject
Date: 2008-09-25 12:45 pm (UTC)Yes, giraffes - I have them in all sizes, and lots of varying material ... Maybe I should get them "catalogued" at some point!
Haven't yet heard Charlie snore - but I am quite a deep sleeper ... so who knows!!
Books - Bible and Bible note books, hymn books etc
Love history - especially British Royal stuff and the 2 World Wars - so fact and poetry.
I like a selection of stuff - from Jane Eyre, Anne of Green Gables, Gone With The Wind, The Sharpe series ... etc Although I am in a Spuffy phase at present - so a lot of fan-fic!

Date: 2008-09-25 07:28 pm (UTC)Mum named him Charlie ... we both worked at a shop at the time with a "Charles" ... In England we have a phrase that someone who is a bit of a twit is called "a right Charlie" ... and as we met Charles, who was weird, at the same time as I purchased the skeleton the link was made ... and stuck!!
Giraffes is something I have had since I was 2 ... and get something from somebody every Christmas and Birthday - so I have quite a few!!

I just have no training speaking it. Should do that. Watching more English TV to get used to the sound? My French is sadly non existing any longer. :)

Date: 2008-09-26 02:16 pm (UTC)When he was on a ride, before I bought him, he had to be in front - a real leader ... very fast as well! But very willing to learn - it took him about 1 day of being at the back to know what was expected of him - I would yell at other horses and he knew to ignore me ... but would listen as soon as I said his name.
He was a pain in lessons, as he knew a lot of English - his and my names and nicknames ... he knew stand, walk, trot etc ... and would watch to see what the horse in front had been asked to do - and then do it.
He never had a favourite spooky place and only rolled once in a while. he was a a sweet-itch sufferer, which caused him some problems - but was great at allowing himself to be treated.
He wore out shoes at a frightening rate - 3 weeks ... DJ's are average at 10 - 11.
So, he had a lot of differences to DJ ... as well as being my first love!!

And what a perfect house guest Charlie makes, quiet, always smiling and doesn't eat you out of house and home :)
Plus those flowers are just devine, your parents must have the green touch!

Date: 2008-09-26 11:07 am (UTC)Yes, Charlie is certainly cheap to keep ... and I always know where he is!
Mum is very green-fingered, although if you tell her that she will deny it!
