Remind Me Again - Why Do I Have A Computer?

Yes, my friends are great - and one of the best reasons.

However I have almost given up today!!

Yesterday, I couldn't get a connection on my second (free) phone line which is part of my BroadBand thingy ... So, I e-mailed and got a great help page back ... With about 10 points to follow through.

So, I did #1,2 and 3 ... then the wrong lights were flasing on the box, so went back to the pc page, to see it had disconnected itself ... no internet access!

Then the helpline - whose number had changed!

When I got through I spoke to a very helpful bloke - 25 minutes later, it was back!!  He kep wanting me to reconnect via wire, which I told him was 100% impossile, so at least he worked it out for me ...

Yay, I'm back.

Now I'm off to lie down in a darkened room before I start the rest of my day ... I'll fill you in about DJ's disasterous morning later!  (Don't panic - he is OK!)

*hugs* Computers and cars--when they work, it's great, and when they don't, you wonder why you bother!

Yes, as I typed my title I knew that I would be lost without it - but was upset at missing my friends here ... so the good news it, it makes me remember that I have friends I would miss!

The guy I spoke to was helpful - but I think annoyed that I couldn't do things the easy way ... but there again he doesn't know me ... LOL

Well at least it all got sorted - and the guy was helpful - even if he was annoyed that I didn't know where a cable was ... still I'm back here again. So far, so good!

Don't you just hate it when computers and the internet doesn't behave.
I had a similar problem - we were switched over to another provider (Tiscali *rolls eyes* ) and they didn't bother letting us know what the new details were that we had to put into our router setup page or what the new smtp address was, so consequently we had no internet for four days...it would have helped if they had provided the information when they sent us the letter telling us that we would be moved over and would only be offline for 30 mins.

I just thought it was so classic to ask you to do a couple of stages and then use the internet for the next bit ... when it turned out they had got you to disconnect!

Just got one of those 0845 numbers to phone ... probably that was the master-plan!

Oh well - I'm back ... and so far, so good!

They do that purposely so that it costs you a fortune to phone them - that's where they make their money :(

Yes, we take this for granted - yet it is stunning how the internet/computers work.

My technical abilities when it comes to our internet access is knowing to unplug the router if the connection goes...

I live in fear of my husband leaving me - I would be totally unable to communicate within days... :~)

I thought I would be OK - follow the instructions .... Fine, if they actually made sense!!

Still, at least there was a helpful guy at the end of the phone (this time!).
