Just Some Pictures
Tuesday, July 15th, 2008 10:33 amJust a small pic-scam ... 2 pictures of Bude.
One of which is Mum, Dad and Jiffy standing by the open (damaged) lock gates ... proving the lock opens into the Atlantic ocean. The other picyure is just of Jiffy. They were taken last month when Mum and dad came for Father's Day weekend

Thes 2 pictures are of the 2 different peacocks I saw when I went to Arlington Court in the beginning of June. The pictures of the actual house are very dark, so haven't bothered with those - but these are of a white peacock and a traditional coloured one.
Nature is so beautiful - we have a marvellous Creator.

Date: 2008-07-15 12:55 pm (UTC)England has quite a few locks up and down canals - but in Bude we are the only ones that have them opening into the sea! So unique - although damaged by storms in February - so not such in working order at present! http://debris4spike.livejournal.com/127035.html

Date: 2008-07-16 07:56 am (UTC)The lock gates are "getting there". The gate itself is lying near the canal and is repaired - and they are still working on the actual structure of the wall. While the main basin was drained, they decided to dredge and repair - so it is taking longer, but a job that needed doing. ... I have just hunted out a pic and will load and post ASAP

Date: 2008-07-16 12:14 am (UTC)Waves hello to your Mum and Dad, gives Jiffy a pat and scratch behind the ears.
We had a blue peacock for awhile he was very vocal as he has previously just lost his mate. It wasn't ours, but just wandered in and made himself at home. We still have all his tail feathers from when he moulted. When we left the lady over the road took him in as she has always admired him. Being a fan of - Are you being served we call him *Captain Peacock*!!!
