25 years ago today I was travelling up to London on the train with my parents and my 2 brothers. It was a sunny Friday morning and an incredibly special day for me.

Back in 1979 I had left school, with lower grades at A level than I needed, but was given a place at The British School Of Osteopathy as the college was going through some changes and gave 5 of us the chance to prove ourselves.   The first year I was at college we were still using the original premises, and then moved to Trafalgar Square.  The present location has been used for about 15 years, so I have never actually seen the building shown in the web link!

There were 95 of us enrolled on the course and all 5 of us graduated. So, 25 years ago today I, along with 62 others from the year, were going to receive our diplomas.   Yes, 63 of us had survived the 4 year course which, for me, gave me both a career as well as friends and a positive outlook on life.

We received our diploma from Earl Haig, as Princess Anne was unwell - but the main thing was the actual diploma, which is still hanging up in my treatment room.

If you want to be truly scared (!) look under the cut as there is my graduation picture ... slightly faded with time, but proving that in 25 years I haven't really changed my hair style at all!!

And, as to the icon I chose, all I can say is "If Only All My Patients Looked Like Him!!!!!"

totally boring hair ... Not boring at all , pretty!
It suits you very well.
I used to wear my hair very short and I'm sure I will come back to this style again, I liked it very much.

Look at pretty and happy you are.

It's important to celebrate anniversaries in our lives, isn't it- a chance to reminisce and enjoy the journey.

Aren't you just the cutest thing evah. And if all your patients looked like Spike, you'd never actually get around to diagnosing him - or anyone else.

What a lovely memory. Have to laugh about the bit on hairstyle. I have the same basic hairstyle from my teens. I wore it short sort of pixie style most of my life. I have very thick hair. Could never wear it in a ponytail style. It broke the bands holding it and gave me a headache. Had very dark brown hair which started going grey when I was fifteen. Just a bit back then, but by the time I reached my forties it was very salt and pepper. My mom still colored her hair which was a deep red. So there I was with my salt and pepper hair while my mom was still a beautiful redhead. I had my hair very long in a shag my senior year. Most of the girls grew their hair long then because of the senior photo with the stupid cap we had to wear. Short hair made you look like a boy in the photo with that cap. Took me an hour under a dryer with huge rolls to get the look with long hair. Short hair is much easier.

I think that's a lovely picture :-)
I'm sure that there was a lot of hard work put into that diploma. Happy Graduation Anniversary!

What a lovely picture - such a beautiful smile - and instantly recognisable too.

Great memories too - I don't even remember the date of my graduation (though it has to be sometime in the summer of 1984).
