1st July 1983
Tuesday, July 1st, 2008 11:20 am25 years ago today I was travelling up to London on the train with my parents and my 2 brothers. It was a sunny Friday morning and an incredibly special day for me.
Back in 1979 I had left school, with lower grades at A level than I needed, but was given a place at The British School Of Osteopathy as the college was going through some changes and gave 5 of us the chance to prove ourselves. The first year I was at college we were still using the original premises, and then moved to Trafalgar Square. The present location has been used for about 15 years, so I have never actually seen the building shown in the web link!
There were 95 of us enrolled on the course and all 5 of us graduated. So, 25 years ago today I, along with 62 others from the year, were going to receive our diplomas. Yes, 63 of us had survived the 4 year course which, for me, gave me both a career as well as friends and a positive outlook on life.
We received our diploma from Earl Haig, as Princess Anne was unwell - but the main thing was the actual diploma, which is still hanging up in my treatment room.
If you want to be truly scared (!) look under the cut as there is my graduation picture ... slightly faded with time, but proving that in 25 years I haven't really changed my hair style at all!!

And, as to the icon I chose, all I can say is "If Only All My Patients Looked Like Him!!!!!"
