Still if I didn't have the computer in the first place then I wouldn't have discovered LJ, got a great f-list ... so that I can moan at you that the computer has gone wrong!!

How about that for a conundrum?

Yes - my pc is telling me that the modem is broken - and when I did a check on the modem I am told it is OK!!  Oh well I am at Mum nd Dad's for the weekend and the man from the computer place is coming to hit my computer on Monday morning ...I might even provide the hammer for him!

have you tried switching it all off unplugging and replugging everything then booting back up ?

I tried re-starting.
Then I tried switching off and starting ...
Then leaving some time and trying again.

Haven't tried taking out the wires - will give that a go when I get back home tomorrow - might save the the cost of a call out - Thanks ... will let you know ... or maybe you will just hear the screams of frustration!!

PS - Love the icon ... maybe you could just sent Numfar round with a hammer for me!!

I find that unplugging everything singing the theme tune from The Archers then plugging it all back in and rebooting can often do the trick :)

I don't know where I stole the icon from but I loves it!

Yes - great icon - I don't have "sorry" ones yet!

... But I am now scuppered for the repair ... I don't listen to The Archers .... Would M*A*S*H work do you think?

Dare I say it - just got back - turned on ... and "Hi"!! Yes - it worked .... so why it was on strike on Friday I don't know ... and it wasn't even a Friday 13th!!

You could always use that hammer (but then you'd need to buy another modem. Not good either, huh?)

Well I am still at my parents - so shall try deborahw37s suggestion when I get back tonight - if not the man with the industrial-sized hammer is coming round tomorrow!!
