Today would have been Elvis Presley's 90th birthday, and the radio is playing a lot of his music today. I am happy as I am actually a great fan of his music. When I was younger he was one of the "stars" whose poster I had on my wall. I was in France on holiday when he died, and remember that day ... so just thought I would share some of his music in case you are as big a fan as I am.

I have also snagged another meme, from [livejournal.com profile] curiouswombat ... but [livejournal.com profile] kazzy_cee has yet again worked out the full list. Thank you ladies. So it's a photo a week going through the alphabet ... I am actually already behind, but at least I have week 1 of the first half ... ARAN ... this jumper was knitted by Mum for Dad and he wore it every winter for years ... I do still occasionally wear it, and yes, it is still lovely and warm.

Work went well yesterday - and I am going back again later, so that will keep me out of mischief.  I am actually hoping to get some icons made this morning before I head off ... well at least it save me from doing housework, doesn't it?

So, let's get a question done -

8. Do you tend to text people or phone them and chat?
Depends on the person.
I chat to my friend Christine on the phone every week
Others I text – but often just to arrange a get-together.
I have one friend in USA, so, yes we text all the time!

Right, let's get on.

debris4spike: (Happy Birthday)
Today would have been Elvis Presley's birthday ... he would have been 78! Like that of the death of President Kennedy (I was too young for that) and of Diana, Princess of Wales, I do remember learning of his death.

I love his voice, so had to share a couple of songs ... one that I had planned to share for Christmas, but was not on LJ.

Blue Christmas

debris4spike: (Christmas Tree + James)

I've just spoken to Tim, and he still can't move his car - so we have come up with a contingency plan ... I'll go and pick him and Claire up for Christmas dinner, the Queen's speach and a few pressies, before taking them home again!

It just reminded me that with the weather that we have maybe there will be others who won't get to spend Christmas with their loved ones ... and, as ever, there are those who can't be with the people they love over the holiday period.

So, thought I would share my favourite Elvis Presley Christmas song -

I do hope that, even if not with those you love, you will have a wonderful Christmas season.

Music Meme Day 6

Day 01- A song that makes me happy ... Come on Eileen by Dexy's Midnight Runners
Day 02- A song that helps you clear your head ... In My Room by The Beach Boys
Day 03- A song that makes you laugh ... Right Said Fred by Bernard Cribbins
Day 04- A song that reminds you of something ... Two Little Boys by Rolf Harris
Day 05- A song that has a new meaning to you every time you hear it ... If Tomorrow Never Comes by Ronan Keating

Day 06- A song you can always relate to

It took me some time to decide which song to chose - and I started looking at Elvis Presly Gospel songs - I do love his voice, especially in the Gospel genre .... and as you all know my faith is incredibly important to me. So while looking on You Tube, I came a cross a song of his I didn't actually know - but the words are true ... I do relate to them. I have nowhere to go, but "to the Lord"

Elvis Presley - "Where Could I Go But to the Lord"

ExpandThe Lyrics )

As to my James song - "Don't Worry Son" ... although I don't have kids, my family and friends can be assured that I would be there for them - I would travel all night if they needed me somewhere.

Yet again you are going to get more than one song!

As most of you know my favourite song by James Marsters is "London City" ... but what you might not know is that it does make me want to cry ... or at the very least run up and give James a hug.

I thought I would post a seasonal video - which always gets me - Elvis Presley singing "Blue Christmas" -

I am a fan of a lot of Elvis Presley's songs - and this is very typical of him ... even if it does make me sad!
