Pic Scam - Launcells
Thursday, September 23rd, 2010 07:52 pmAs I said, Mum and dad are visiting and this afternoon, we went to see the "Least spoilt Church in Cornwall" - according to Sir John Betjman - Launcells. It is on the outskirts of Bude - and only has the vicarage within 2 miles of it, as the original village was wiped out by The Black Death.
As you can see - even Jiffy had a wander around the outside -

A Medieval wall painting -

The basic age of the chancellery is 1324 -

A Norman font -

Floor tiles in fron of the alter -

The crest of King Charles, as Bude supported the Royalists during the Civil War -

And this tomb is dated 1624 - and is stunning in an otherwise plainish Church -
