At Least It Is Dry Today ....
Saturday, September 7th, 2024 11:18 amBut for how long is anyone's guess!
I heard from Tim & Claire, and although the weather hasn't been as great as they hoped they have managed to get out for a walk each day .... so that's good news.
I have, however, already packed my summer dresses & skirts away. Normally I wait until October, but have given up already. I decided getting cold was not my first choice ... so all swapped over.
What a short summer!
I have some more photos to share ... when I get them sorted, so hopefully I will do another post later, but until then -
7. It’s World Beard Day - do you know anyone with a beard?
Nick grew his beard soon after they married. Now it is long and shaggy.
Overall I am not a fan of a beard, though
8. In the US it’s Grandparent’s Day. How many grandparents were still around when you were growing up? Have you any special memories of your grandparents?
All 4 when I was born, however Granddad W had a major stroke when I was 3 – 4. He didn’t die until I was 14, but I never actually knew him as a person, sadly.
I have lots and lots of fond memories of Mum’s parents. It is Granddad C who’s WWI history I have been following. He died Christmas Day when I was 17, and soon after Grandma C lived with us much of the time, dying a few days after my 21st.
Grandma W died when I was 30, but sadly (like Auntie Joyce) she was not at all “family” friendly. So I knew her fairly well, but mostly like a friend from my Church rather than a grandma
Right - see you Monday x

Date: 2024-09-08 02:32 pm (UTC)8. All four of them. But I knew my maternal ones better than my paternal ones - we lived with Granny and Grampy, back on the island, once Granny became almost bed-ridden, but Grandma and Grandpa lived in Liverpool, so going to see them was a sort of annual event.
The two grandmothers died within about 6 months of each other when I was 11, and Grampy suggested Grandpa come and live with us, which he did. So I got to know him better in his last years. Grampy died when I was 16, Grandpa about a year later.
