Saturday Shopping
Saturday, February 3rd, 2024 01:21 pmYes, this morning I walked to the larger supermarket ... and did a load of shopping, before catching the bus home. This used to be a busy road, but is now blocked half way along, so other than an occasioonal car (there are a couple of houses), mostly, as you can see, there are dog walkers ... it is a very nice walk.

And so to the shop
The letter box has a new "hat"

I have made a "mince-mix" and am catching up here before having a late lunch.
I wanted to get sorted and then sign off until next week ... although I have a few comments to reply, I think that will be a task for Tuesday. Yes, I am working a full day on Monday ... thus 3 days of kazzy_cee s questions -
3. What's your favourite way to cook/serve carrots on this Carrot Cake Day?
I love fresh carrots raw … other than that cooked (julienned preferably). I am not a real fan of carrot cake, but wouldn’t turn a slice down!
4. It's British Yorkshire Pudding Day. Have you ever had Yorkshire puddings and have you ever made them?
I love Yorkshires, and make them often.
Savoury … with a meal, or as Toad-in-a-hole, or sweet with apples, or just syrup.
When I was a kid I grew up with “Sunday Lunch” … in fact it was a common Sunday meal for most of Mum’s life … and, we always had a starter .. Yorkshire Pudding
5. World Nutella Day - yay or nay on the chocolatey nutty spread (and what do you spread it on, or do you spoon it from the jar?)
No thanks
Right, see you Tuesday ... will catch up with you then, I promise x

Date: 2024-02-04 05:21 pm (UTC)And that's a nice post box topper.
I like my carrots steamed, or even roasted, but also make so much carrot cake for church things that I hardly ever eat it! I am still amused to know that the red pandas I met two weeks ago like a bit of microwaved carrot but don't like it raw.
I like Yorkshire puddings if I am at a carvery, but almost never make them.
Nutella is rather good spread on a plain rich tea biscuit, but otherwise I think of it as an ingredient in brownies or in a banana and nutella cake.

Date: 2024-02-08 03:07 pm (UTC)I can't see why carrot cake has got such a popular thing
Well, being bought up eating Yorkshires I suppose I just got so used to helping to make them I have carried on doing it.
Nutella & rich tea bisccuits sound a good combination!
