As I said earlier I went to Totnes on my way to see Jiffy's grave.

Guildhall
The Guildhall


Totnes Castle was started in 1068, although the (now) stone building was made of wood in those days. In some ways Totnes Castle looks typical of what a "proper" old castle should look like

What a fascinating church - I especially love the map on the floor - it reminded me of the Marauders' Map rug we got NYK2 for her bedroom :)

And yes - that is a prpoer motte and bailey type castle!
