Yes, sorry Mum, but you were, although I know why you did it!  What am I talking about?

Mum made all her own jam, pickles etc.  Yummy taste I know, but it takes forever to do!

I actually decided to make some chutneys as part of pressies for people this Christmas.  I did tomato last week, and beetroot & onion this morning.  And, yes, it's hot in the house now, with a lovely vinegary smell.  Just hope that they taste as good!  I have actually labeled them, saying, "Made with love, whatever the taste"

So Mum, they are your recipes, and should taste OK, but don't think I will bother making stuff for myself; but whether they get eaten or not, I am glad I have made the effort.

Now I need to start writing Christmas cards & letters.  I want to get quite a bit done before the weekend, so a few soon, and then when I get home from work tomorrow the pen will be busy.

I have posted one set of photos already, and have one more to post, but will get them done tomorrow.  For now, I must get on ...


30. What level of brightness do you usually keep your phone at?
Umm, don't know!  I do know my Kindle is just below the half way point, so that will do for an answer.

I did that one year. I'm not sure everyone ate them but two people did ask me for recipes. So I assume those people tried them.

Your mum and my mom were of an age I think. Mine grew up during the depression and was a young mother during WWII. Her family were farmers. They lived off the land. They canned from their garden to feed their large family. No written down recipes. My mom regretted she hadn't saved her mother's recipes after she passed away. I still make the same holiday meals my mom did. Her father made candy for holidays. I have a few recipes that when I make them I feel closer to her. They are time consuming so they are special for holidays.

Yes - it was a struggle for them during those years, wasn't it?

I have Mum's recipe folders and use them a lot ... and love some of the notes she has added over the years.

I actually have my grandmother's cook book from pre-WWI, but although interesting to read I don't use it as a cook book.
