Sadly I have just heard the news the Prince Philip passed away this morning at Windsor.

Below is the statement from the palace:

“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

“His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.

“Further announcements will be made in due course.

“The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss.”

I feel very lost - but not as much as The Queen I am sure.  My thoughts and prayers are with her

It is very sad - I read somewhere a few months ago that he was determined to make it to 100, such a pity he didn't quite make it.

The death of Prince Philip is certainly a significant milestone for the country as well as his family. He and Queen Elizabeth are part of the generation of people who played an important role in World War II.

As I have heard said, he lived a good long innings. Bless.
