80th Anniversary - Battle Of Britain

This morning they had the anniversay service at Westminster Abbey for the Battle of Britain.  So thought I would share this picture that Dad drew at the time.  It is one of a dozen that I have that he did - mostly of WWII sights ...



Dad lived in the East of London, and worked on the docks in Barking ... so for him The Battle of Britain was something he lived in.

He was a good artist!

It seems so odd that WWII was 80 years ago - over 80 years ago. In my mind, I think of WWI as being around 80 years ago when it reality it's been over nearly 102. I'm sure I'm not aging! LOL

Mum was always the acknowledged artist of the family - however neither of them would say they were artistic at all.

Yes, I remember watching Dad's Army ( a Home Guard comedy if you don't know it) and thinking of it as history ... when I suddenly thought to ask Dad about his training - that really shortened those years ;)
