Today is At Swithin's Day, and this is the view from my front door .... So is that the weather we have to look forward to for the next 40 days?

And, for those who don't know, here is the poem -
St. Swithin's day, if thou dost rain,
For forty days it will remain;
St. Swithin's day, if thou be fair,
For forty days 'twill rain na mair

Actually these plain grey skies were something Mum really hated, and she always said it was a concrete sky!!

I used to know that poem. (I don't know how or why because St. Swithin's day isn't a thing in the US. Probably from reading English books!) I hope it doesn't apply to all weather because if it does, we're do for 40 days of really hot, really humid, nasty weather with neither sun nor rain. Hope yours is better! (I see you mentioned grey skies, so maybe not. Your photo didn't show up for me but may well later.)

I'd never heard of Swithin"s Day. My grandmother always said if it thundered on Easter Sunday, it would rain for seven Sundays in a row. She was all about sayings like that. She always planted her above ground plants like beans on Good Friday. She was a big believer of the Farmer's Almanac. There has been one published since 1818 here in the States. It tells you about the coming weather, when to plant things and all the moon phases.
