In your own space, share your love for a trope, cliché, kink, motif, or theme. (Or a few!) What makes it particularly appealing for you? What do you like in fanworks featuring that trope?

There are a few that I like, within the fandoms I love ....

1) Time Travel
As seen in the icon above I like ones where time travel is used, however in this episode of SG1, and seen in a 2-parter in Voyager, the aim is to get back to where they came from, without affecting anything.
However in fanfics I love time travel where te protangonists are thrown back in time, to reset the past. It is a line used in a lot of Buffy fics ... however in this the character(s) need to remember why they are doing this.  In fact in a previous challenge this was the theme that I ended up using to list favourite fanfics

2)  AU
One of the things I love about AU is when it is "temporary" ... In Stargate there are a couple of episodes where you see this, as characters from the AU visit each other, but make their way back home.  In some of the fanfics, you see this theme being used, and then when the charater(s) get back to their home then it is good to see them making compromises to their life ... this is often used in Voyager fics.

3)  Claim, in BtVS
In BtVS where Buffy & Spike have found a way to be together (properly), I like it when there is some form of Claim added ... not a controlling one, but one that will end up helping them both.

I love a good claim fic that gives benefits to each of the pairing.

Time travel is a great trope. I hadn't thought to categorize them into the ones where they try not to affect anything and the ones where they are there specifically to change things. I think I also really like the second kind for fanfic (a sort of fix-it fic), but you're right, it often gets tricky for the characters if they don't remember their purpose.
