Sorry I haven't been around much, but my tooth has caused me a lot of pain. It slowly eased as the week progressed, but I felt slightly poorly, slightly "off" ... I put it down to all the pain killers I was swallowing.
However today I saw my dentist (well, not mine as she is off on maternity leave) and he said that the dentist that I saw on Sunday had the correct tooth, but the tooth itself was totally infected so it had to come out. That took a bit of time as I have over-crowding and it was impacted ... but the tooth is out and I now have a very sore mouth again. But the weird health feelings have gone.
As to my title ... I am 51 and that tooth had been in my mouth 46 - 47 years as it was a retained baby tooth. So, sad to say Goodbye ... and I didn't even get it so I could put it under my pillow for the tooth fairy to collect.
My other "moan" is that in England children get dental treatment for free .... so shouldn't I have had that treatment done free!!
###
Anyway, if I have missed anything in the last few days let me know.
On a side note - 1 year ago today it was M&D's Diamond Anniversary - we had photos in the garden ... today it is 2'C and howling gales ... "What a difference a year makes"

Date: 2013-03-23 11:05 pm (UTC)That reminds me to check my mail (I was at the dentist too):
The doctor plans two crown / caps because those teeth are mostly fillings, not much tooth left.
I've got a cost budget today: Dentist: 542,00 Euro; laboratory 460,00 Euro.
The insurance (Krankenkasse) pays 300 Euro so that's around 700 for me when I use porcelain. If I read this invoice plan thing right, using metal would cost me 200 Euro?
It's very complicated, the whole thing. The insurance pays a certain amount, you pay the rest here. That's why I've got an extra teeth insurance. But I have to ask if they pay the whole amount when using metal. Oh and they use a German laboratory. There is one that has stuff produced from abroad, that would be cheaper too. Complicated, eh?
But having the pain stop should be make the loss of the tooth sweeter. (I'd rather keep them too and have them crowned/cap but when the tooth is too bad you can't do a thing.)
*sends hugs*

Date: 2013-03-26 11:59 pm (UTC)The normal fillings fall under the things the Krankenkasse insurance pays. But I remember that I had to pay for fillings too with my previous dentist. Not with my new one (I wonder why?), I don't have to pay for fillings yet.
With 4 fillings for translated to 56,73 Euro that's cheaper like what I paid back then. But we don't have to pay for Check-up any longer. That is around 20 Euro's today, that is again double of what he had to pay but only if the doctor had to do some work. Just checking and nothing found didn't costs.
Very complicated and not easy to compare, both systems. I wouldn't mind if it was easier and cheaper for us all. But I fear the system would break down then, huh?
