At Long Last

... Hopefully I will be able to both catch up and stay around now on.

Life just got away from me last week, and that's why I decided to drop LJ, as something small that could give me some extra time & energy.

Thanks for letting me go!

Anyway I had a great weekend.

I worked all day Friday and it was the last day of my temporary contract and the lady who had employed me gave me some flowers and chocolates when I handed back the lap-top. That was a lovely surprise, as I had (obviously) been paid. But nice to be thanked.

Then I had something to eat and headed up to Nick & Brenda's. We had a lovely lazy evening, just sitting chatting & drinking tea. Brenda & I made plans for the day ahead, but the couple of things we had wanted to see were closed, and the weather wasn't great. However we decided we would just go ahead and see what the day brought ... loads of photos to follow, as we were "busy", and the weather was great.

One (sad) photo I will share is of Ollie ... he and another dog fell out with each other, and as you can see they now have a designer Collie

I stayed overnight and went to Church with Nick & Brenda (and Andrew & Jess), then back to Sunday lunch at theirs before heading home.

So a lovely weekend ... Before I get to sort photos ....

13. What is the oldest historical building in your neighbourhood. How old is it?
5 minutes walk from me is a chapel built in the 1400’s … However in the city centre less than 2 miles away, is the remains of the Roman Wall, built 2,000 years ago (approximately)

14. World Blood Donor Day - have you ever donated blood? In your country do you get paid for donating?
The couple of times I organised myself to do it, I was ill. So, no I never got round to it.
No we only get a cup of tea and a biscuit as payment.

15. In the UK it's National Beer Day. Do you enjoy a beer every now and again? What's your favourite brand/type?
Have had lighter beers on holiday in hot countries, but not a great favourite.

16. It's National Fudge Day - you can buy fudge in many, many different flavours - what's your favourite if you have one?
I am not a great fan of fudge … although I love toffee.

17. Charles Goodyear accidentally created rubber and patented it today. Have you ever had something go wrong, but it turned out to be to your advantage?
I suppose my hand injury was certainly something gone wrong … yet I love where I am now, and what I do. Neither of which would be something I would have done without the starting point of the injury.

So, have I missed any vital news, let me know.

I will try and catch up with you, but also have a lot of photos to sort.

See you soon x

One of the locations we visited was the Roman Baths ... it has been adapted and changed over the years.  The tour is well organised, so nice to see 2000 years of history laid out ina clear way so we could see what all the various parts of the complex that have been excavated.
